Choosing the best gun for hog hunting could be as simple as grabbing your favorite deer rifle, but wheres the fun in that? Any excuse to buy a new rifle is a good excuse, and there are plenty to be found when hunting hogs. They are pursued across a wide variety of terrain using a host of hunting strategies. You might glass from high ground and execute a stalk ending with a long shot. You might take a stand and intercept hogs as they move between bedding and feeding areas, or ambush them when they go to water. |

Leesburg Town Council denied a request to change a zoning variance Monday. Jacob Riebe approached the council because he currently lives with his parents and wants to use his parents home to start a gunsmith/manufacturer/dealer business. He said there are a lot of hoops to go through and he wanted to get approval from the town council and Area Plan Commission before applying for his federal firearms license (FFL) in order to save money in case his request was denied. |

Glocks have always been popular handguns, mainly because of their rugged and reliable nature. But if you hang around Glock owners long enough, theyll either start talking about things theyve modified on their Glocks or things they want to modify. The trigger and sights are typically the top two modifications done to a Glock, so seeing an opportunity, Glock decided to capitalize on the growing custom trigger trend and offer a factory version. Enter the Glock Performance Trigger (GPT). |

FN finally jumped into the micro compact 9 game on Tuesday by announcing the new Reflex pistol line in multiple colors and optics-ready variants. FN's small handgun game has been evolving over the years, to include the palm-sized FN 503, a well-done single-stack that rivaled the G43. To this, while the company introduced Compact and Compact Compensated Edge models of the double-stack FN 509s, it was still lacking a real equivalent to guns like theSIG P365 or Springfield Armory Hellcat.

A wise man once said, One of the fallacies of our era is the notion that equipment is the equivalent of force. Some of us get too wrapped up in trying to select the latest and greatest defensive handgun, just the right ammunition and the newest style of holster. All of that is nice, but the fact is that the defensive handgun and assorted gear is only one small part of the personal-defense program. Every so often, we need to step back and look at the big picture. |

Gun control advocates are ceaseless innovators in the realm of limiting freedom. They continuously devise new and bizarre policies to undermine the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. The U.S. Supreme Court decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen (2022) poses a serious problem for these gun control pioneers. In striking down New Yorks discretionary carry permitting regime, the court emphasized the proper test by which gun control measures should be judged against the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. |

Like many a 2nd Amendment-loving teenager of my generation, I was introduced to the FN 5.72x28 via the Showtime television series Stargate SG-1. Fans of the show will remember how the main characters, played by Richard Dean Anderson and Amanda Tapping, would travel across the galaxy battling alien forces armed with their full auto FN P90s. |

Two weeks after a school shooting in Nashville, a pair of GOP lawmakers have proposed a bill that would allow school administrators and other officials carry guns in Wisconsin schools. Under the bill, school boards would have to create and approve their own concealed carry policy to allow it, according to a co-sponsor memo issued by Rep. Scott Allen (R-Waukesha) and Sen. Cory Tomczyk (R-Mosinee). |

The writing of such authors as Skeeter Skelton and other lawmen/scribes like Bill Jordan and Charles Askins influenced me to enter the field of law enforcement. After receiving a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice in 1976, I started out as a police officer, then deputy sheriff, and in the spring of 1982, I received my appointment as a Patrol Agent in the U.S. Border Patrol, El Paso Sector.

I wrote this article long before the latest mass shooting that just happened, this time in Louisville, Kentucky, because we all know the pattern, and it never changes. Theres a mass shooting and dead innocents, often children. Angry calls for Republicans to do something, and nothing gets done. The incident fades from the 24-hour news cycle, and we resume the waiting game for the next one. Its Sisyphus with a boulder that rolls downhill and crushes him over and over for eternity.
