... "How American Jews can miss this lesson is frankly baffling to me. As far as I can see, any American Jews like Rabbi Yoffie who urge citizen disarmament are merely the Judas goats of a future Holocaust. And if you think it can't happen here, Errol, you're whistling past the graveyard of history. As an African American, you should know this. It wasn't that long ago that the Deacons for Defense and Justice rose up in a perilous time and faced down their own would-be murderers with guns in their hands." ...

"What do you do when the police can't protect you? Police may be the single most important factor for reducing crime, but there is something the police themselves understand: They almost always arrive at the crime scene after the crime has occurred."

"Expecting people to trust the police to protect them and to behave passively is a recipe for disaster."

"The last couple of weeks have seen a couple prominent murders where restraining orders did women little good. ..."

"Unfortunately, despite acknowledging that 'many women find themselves on their own,' the media are drawing the wrong lessons. To simply advise that women 'Get the hell away him' often doesn't go anywhere near far enough." ...

"For the past 30 years, residents of the District of Columbia have been threatened with conviction and imprisonment simply for having a gun in their homes."

"In keeping with a District-wide law, all handguns were prohibited, unless they were registered before 1976. Even pistols registered prior to the ban could not be carried from room to room within a home without a license. Furthermore, licensed guns had to be kept locked up or disassembled."

"Critics have long decried the District's gun ban ... But Shelly Parker and five other D.C. residents went a step beyond complaining to challenge the law in federal court, claiming that it barred the very protection the Second Amendment guaranteesthe right to self defense." ...

"I've been quite open about my former liberalism. I am dismayed at today's liberals ... I certainly resent their opposition to the Second Amendment. ..." ...

"Their media is worse on Second Amendment issues. Every gun use is evil, statues with guns in them are evil, and gun owners are white and male and redneck and evil."

"Every now and again, though, someone makes a statement in a liberal forum that bears repeating. Camille Paglia is a liberal and libertarian at the same time. She is published in Salon magazine, a very left-wing institution. She writes a column that periodically answers readers' letters. A man from Brooklyn wanted to know her stand on the Second Amendment. Here is what she had to say in total:" ...

"When Sen. John Edwards ran for president four years ago, the North Carolina Democrat declared that President Bush had divided the nation into 'two Americas ... one America that does the work, another America that reaps the reward.'"

"Turns out that the other America lives right next door to the 28,000-square-foot, $5.3 million mansion Mr. Edwards has built near Chapel Hill, N.C."

"The Edwards' neighbor, Monty Johnson, lives on 42 acres that the Johnson family has owned for decades. Mr. Johnson, 55, has been known to brandish firearms to chase away trespassers, which frightens the former senator's wife, who called the Johnson property 'slummy' and condemned its owner as a 'rabid Republican.'" ...

"From the viewpoint of a Second Amendment supporter, it doesnt matter whether Mitt Romney is an expert varmint stalker. It does matter whether he is sincere in his support of the Second Amendment. "To Mayor Mike, of course, comparing someone to the NRA is the vilest of epithets." ...

"Actually, the mayor's analogy is just slightly off-base."

"Say this for the NRA: The group is up front about its agenda and its interests: Gun owners are its constituents - and it openly admits that it advocates on their behalf, not someone else's." ...

"Many times Ive heard people say that, 'all politicians are the same.' Nothing could be further from the truth. All politicians are all different."

"Sure they have some similarities, just like members of any other group, but they are all unique people with unique thoughts."

"Recently, U.S. Congresswoman Jean Schmidt and State Representatives Joe Uecker and Danny Bubp joined fellow shooters for a day of fun at the Buckeye Blast. They were there for the same reasons as all the other participants. They care deeply about our personal freedoms, and they support groups that work to protect those freedoms. Of course they were there for the fun and comradery too ... Have you been shooting with one of your legislators yet?" ...

"Despite his promise to appoint 'strict constructionists' to the Supreme Court if he is elected president, Rudy Giuliani recently said he has no interest in overturning Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that discovered a previously unnoticed constitutional right to abortion. ..."

"Since Giuliani also claims to support 'the right to bear arms' (a right that is actually mentioned in the Constitution), he should, by similar logic, advocate the use of taxpayer money to buy guns for poor people. But the idea would never occur to him, because his sudden interest in the Second Amendment, like his sudden interest in strict constructionism, is merely an affectation intended to allay the concerns of Republican primary voters." ...

Buy me a gun, Rudy

... "So if government has a 'duty' to pay for women who want to have recreational abortions, then, Rudy, does government have a duty to pay for my firearms? Conservatives are a bit antsy when you have said that gun control in New York is way different than gun control in Flyover Country ... We could, however, buy that if you bought the argument that abortion, too, is an issue that each state should decide for itself. ... But if you believe that the law, as passed by that legislative body we call the Supreme Court, provides rights, then surely those rights should be the same everywhere. And if constitutional rights should be funded by taxpayers, then I have a request: Rudy, buy me a gun."

"The National Rifle Association is cruising."

"A controversial bill that would make it illegal for businesses to keep employees from bringing guns to work and storing them in their vehicles passed another committee in the Senate on Tuesday."

"The swiftness contrasts sharply with a protracted debate last year that split Republican lawmakers between two favorite interests - business and guns - and competing visions of constitutional rights."

So, when he read the text of a bill introduced in Pennsylvania's House of Representatives last month, the timber worker 'about flipped.'"

"...there are numerous kinds of actions in respect of which men would not, if they were asked, agree with anything like unanimity to be bound by the will of the majority . . .  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Our Founding Fathers were proud that Americans were trusted with arms because they knew that only when people are armed could they truly be thought of as free citizens. And that's where the circle closes. Those who want to deprive you of your right to keep and bear arms are intending to deprive you of your freedom, period. Like the criminals their policies encourage, these elitists know that it is always best to disarm victims before you enslave them. Charley Reese
