The Michigan Legislature resumed its session Tuesday following a two-week spring recess. One of its first acts could be wrapping up action on a gun safety package. Theres a batch of gun bills already waiting on Governor Gretchen Whitmers desk. Shes expected to sign the bills soon. One thats still waiting on final action by the Legislature would allow courts to order authorities to seize guns from someone deemed an extreme risk. That bill is on the House Judiciary Committees Wednesday agenda. |

Within the realm of optics, few names are as trusted as Trijicon. After all, the companys U.S.-made products have been field-proven by U.S. armed forces and law-enforcement personnelalong with civilian devotees, who top their trusted firearms with Trijicon-branded units for self-defense, competition and hunting. Of the companys diverse lineup, though, the standout remains the compact, self-illuminating Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight (ACOG), of which more than 1 million have been manufactured. |

Illinois ban on certain semi-automatic firearms and magazines is set for a hearing in an East St. Louis federal court Wednesday afternoon. Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the Protect Illinois Communities Act on Jan. 10. The measure bans all sales of more than 170 semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and handguns, and bans the sale of magazines over 10 rounds for rifles and 15 rounds for handguns. All grandfathered firearms legally purchased before the ban are required to register with Illinois State Police by the beginning of next year. |

Tomorrow, the Senate may take up House Bill 674 on second reading, to create an optional, enhanced carry permit. Please contact your state senator and ask them to SUPPORT HB 674. House Bill 674 creates the option of an enhanced carry permit. While Montana is fortunate to have constitutional carry, many Montanans still choose to get a carry permit to take advantage of reciprocity or recognition allowing them to exercise their right-to-carry when visiting other states; but not all states accept Montanas permit. |

President Joe Biden wasted little time calling for gun control following the tragic murders of six innocent Americans by a mentally unstable person who was known to be a threat. Similarly, White House Spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre demanded a litany of gun control in a press briefing following the tragedy in Louisville, Ky., before the basic facts of the incident were known. |

The National Instant Background Check System (NICS) gun sales and background checks for March, 2023, are the fourth highest on record since recording of background checks started in 1999. In March of 2023, there were about 1.51 million gun sales and about 3.04 million background checks total. Having about half of background checks done for gun sales falls well within the expected range in recent years. In some instances, gun sales have been less than 40% of total background checks done in a month.

When state lawmakers removed a cap on carry permit fees in 2019, gun rights advocates warned something like this would happen. The Democrat-controlled City Council of Morgan Hill, California last week gave a 4-1 thumbs up for a plan that establishes a fee scale for city-issued concealed carry permits. As the city fundamentally had a "no issue" policy when it came to such CCW licenses, the Morgan Hill Police Department has none in circulation. Those who sought a permit from the city were left to prove a subjective "special need" to authorities. |

The vote came one day after the Senate passed another gun control measure already sent over from the House, leaving the gun prohibition lobby in an exuberant mood. |

Hornady Zombie Max (Z-MAX) ammunition was a special line created for killing zombies. Yes, thats right zombies. No longer in production, this specialty ammo was basically a fun gimmick with surprisingly good performance. Paired with a cool packaging design, Hornady Z-MAX made for a great conversation piece and was very popular among shooters mainly because nobody knew how long it would be in production. Here are some of the features and uses of these fun zombie bullets (other than zombie control, of course). The official webpage also has a fun video and a great disclaimer thats worth a read. |

Quite possibly the most iconic cartridge in the United States, the .45 Colt was developed by gunmaker Samuel Colt as a black powder cartridge in 1872, for the Colt Single Action Army (aka the Peacemaker) revolver. This cartridge features a .454-inch bullet inside a rimmed, straight-walled case that measures 1.285 inches in length. Commonly called the .45 Long Colt (LC), the overall length of the round is 1.6 inches. It features a large pistol primer and is pressurized to 14,000 pounds per square inch (psi). |
