The jacketed hollow point (JHP) is designed to expand rapidly when hitting its target, which increases the effectiveness of the bullet and decreases the chances of over-penetration. Jacketed hollow points come in a massive variety, separated by shape, design or simply the company that manufactures them. When comparing JHP vs. HP, some jacketed hollow points will look just like traditional hollow points, but will be obviously coated. Others will have a more advanced and high-tech appearance. The nose is coated in a harder metal, helping prevent lead issues in your gun as well as the air and ground. The coating also helps this type of ammunition function better in automatic feeding pistols and rifles.

Whether youre looking for an alternate means of concealed carry or the situation requires a level of discretion befitting a subcompact handgun, a pocket holster, like the DeSantis Super Fly, may be the solution. In addition to a pocket holsters biggest benefitthat being deep concealment without the need of a cover garmentthe Super Fly is designed to keep the handgun oriented in an upright position, as its butt remains in a consistent and easily accessible position.

When the Ruger Custom Shop introduced its Super GP100 eight-shot .357 Mag. competition revolver in 2019 it was almost inevitable that a 9mm version would follow. That occurred in 2020 and should find favor with USPSA, Steel Challenge and ICORE shooters who favor an eight-shot moon-clip-fed 9mm wheelgun.

Gov. Evers' Safer at Home order recognizes outdoor activity as an essential activity. As such, the 2020 spring turkey season will proceed without changes to the season dates or management zones under the Safer at Home order. Due to COVID-19, distance is critical. Social distancing the practice of always staying six feet away from others outside of household members is vital to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

The FBI conducted background checks on 96,654 transactions in Minnesota last month, the most ever in the state for a single month. That number is part of a record 3.7 million background checks processed nationwide, the Star Tribune reported.

Since dry fire training is pretty much all most of us can do these days, the topic of recoil comes up. Obviously, recoil management for shot strings, target transitions and so on requires that you actually experience it, and you cant when you arent shooting an actual bullet.

An employee of a Florida Gun Shop called me last week to let us know that a very liberal customer was quite angry that he could not pick out a gun, pay for it and walk out of the store with it. This is the story he shared in pretty much his own words... After filling out the 4473 Form, and showing his drivers license, the customer was annoyed that he had to go through a background check. He angrily questioned, "Don't you know who I am?" (He is a City Commissioner) When I told him it didn't matter, he said it was a waste of resources to do background checks on law-abiding people and said the law obviously "needed exceptions."

When it comes to concealed-carry gear, one of the unsung heroes is the belt. Relying on a standard dress belt will lead to problems with your holstered firearmthe box store $20 dress belt is intended to keep your khakis in place, not hold up 2 to 3 pounds of gun and gear. However, purpose-built gun belts can often be extra-thick, hard to feed through standard belt loops and too stiff to put on quickly. The same thickness that helps hold your gear in place works against you when you try to buckle the belt, adjust your holster and sometimes even bending/sitting.

Two Ohio judges recently rendered a decision. They told the three thousand school staff members who were trained as first responders that they can no longer bring their firearms to school unless they pass police officer training.

I'm not sure what problem this ruling was trying to solve.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821)
