"With an election hanging in the balance, Angel Shamaya and members of his organization initiated a campaign in 2000 to make sure the votes of military personnel were counted with hopes of getting George W. Bush in office."

"Shamaya, the executive director of KeepAndBearArms.com, said he will not be voting to re-elect the president this year and that the organization he founded, which he said has thousands of members, may endorse a third-party candidate."

" 'The Bill of Rights is on fire,' he said."

"The Supreme Court of the United States this week denied the petition of two California men who helped initiate a recall election. Mr. Russ Howard of Californians Against Corruption led a successful campaign to oust State Senator David Roberti from his powerful position as President Pro Tempore of the California State Senate."

"Senator Roberti was forced to expend vast amounts from his huge campaign war chest and lost his next election. During the recall effort, CAC and its supporters were constantly harassed. Intimidating phone calls and even death threats were received. Burglaries occurred, and calumnies against supporters appeared in newspapers. In response to these tactics, Howard made complete financial disclosures but temporarily declined to provide contributors' addresses in order to protect them from harm. Senator Roberti complained to the 'Fair Political Practices Commission' and they levied the largest campaign disclosure fine in American history against CAC Treasurer Howard and treasurer-elect Cicero, for the sum of $808,000 (about $1.5 million today with interest). This amount was larger than the total of all previous fines levied by the FPPC in its 15-year history, and greatly exceeded the fines imposed by the Federal Elections Commission on all Democrat participants in the 1996 illegal Chinese campaign contributions scandal."

"Amendment VIII, United States Constitution states: 'Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.' ..."

Cheney, NRA to Discuss Issues on Gun Owners' Minds

Vice President Dick Cheney will be in town Saturday to address the National Rifle Association and NRA executives say they'll be speaking with him about issues that have troubled some members.

A number of gun-rights groups have criticized the Patriot Act as an infringement on the Bill of Rights.

NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre says the organization won't endorse anyone for president until after national conventions this summer.

While an endorsement of Democratic candidate John Kerry appears unlikely, the NRA has withheld endorsements entirely in past elections.

President Bush has said he would approve an extension of a 10-year ban assault-style weapons that expires in September, though the NRA opposes the ban.

"Chase believes all gun owners should be required to have a microchip implanted in their hand to be able to own a gun. While yesterday's Associated Press story on the prototype is primarily from the angle of police usage, WND reported two years ago that from the he outset of the company's acquisition of its 'Digital Angel' implant patent said to be GPS trackable Applied touted the implant as a potential universal method of gun control."

"...The common definition of the term 'militia' as recorded in the Second Amendment is archaic, but at the end of the 18th century, its common usage meant 'all able-bodied males.' 'The right of the people' refers to a self-granted right of all citizens. 'Keep and bear arms' means to privately own and carry firearms on one's person, and 'shall not be infringed' means that this right cannot be reduced, changed or modified, even for those who own military style long guns or pistols. The fact that this right makes people who don't own guns uncomfortable does not change its meaning or intent."

"Acting in his self-styled 'public interest,' he intends to buy control of the electoral process with the goal of throwing President George W. Bush out of the White House and creating a Congress dominated by radicals who call themselves 'progressives.' "

The Success of 9/11

"What troubles me about Fielding's statement is that all of our system's did not fail. One of them succeeded --- the ability of the citizens of this country to identify a threat and take action as individuals to elminate it. The ability that was demonstrated so dramatically --- and successfully --- by the passengers on Flight 93, the only hijacked plane where the terrorists failed in their mission to crash into a valuable target."

"As I wrote one year after the 9/11 attacks, I don't believe that America began responding effectively to Al Qaeda when we invaded Afghanistan. I believe we began responding effectively the moment that the passengers of Flight 93, fed information via cellphone calls from the ground, recognized what the terrorists on their flight planned to do --- and acted to stop it."

-------
It remains abundantly clear that the people themselves are the last line of defense against armed thugs (or tyrants). Imagine what would have happened if just one of those passengers had a firearm!

"Today Drug Enforcement agents are reminding retailers to be their eyes and ears inside stores. It's not really what customers are buying that concerns agents, but how much of it and in what combinations."

"A couple red flag items include cat litter, Sudafed cold medicine, matches, and these are just a few of the common items." ...

"Another big indicator could be that a person comes back for similar items in the same day or you have a group of people buying a lot of the same thing."

"The DEA brags they've made a dent in this problem and a lot of meth makers are in prison, but it is also realistic; the drug is cheap, easy to get, and very addictive."

-------
Well, God forbid if you have 10 cats and want to buy kitty litter in bulk! And don't even think about purchasing Sudafed for that cold! You run out? Too bad. You can always drag your rear end out of bed and buy some more when you run out.

"For the sake of freedom and this democratic republic, the military must be cut back. ... " ...

"There is no doubt that The Founding Fathers wanted to rely on the various militias rather than a standing army for most of our defense. We had just won our independence with a military force that began as a rag tag group of rebels from militias that had coalesced to defeat the mightiest nation of the time. The best example was the famous Minutemen and the informal network that was used to alert the Americans to danger with The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere. What would there be to fear from invaders? Evidently, they felt not much."
