Dan Wesson DWX, Tested and Reviewed

The Dan Wesson DWX was first announced in 2019 as an idealistic blend of CZ 75 ergonomics and 1911 function. Both pistols are popular worldwide, and the DWX, or the idea of the DWX, cultivated in a pitched anticipation among pistol shooters well before the first ones hit the shelves. The rollout was delayed, but as of now, the Dan Wesson DWX pistols are shipping out to customers.

Pistols based on collaborative and blended-design are nothing new. Favorable features are often borrowed from successful designs. The VIS P35 that my grandpa brought back from Europe at the end of WWII is a beautifully-shooting Polish mash-up of 1911 and pre-production FN/Browning Hi-Power features.

Although the names may give the impression that these are two similar rounds, that 1 mm makes a huge difference between these cartridges. While the debate may not be as hotly contested as 9mm vs. 45 ACP; there is enough here worth mentioning. Read on for our 9mm vs 10mm review.

Several of my readers and followers have asked if I would write a 2023 article about my opinion of the top value or budget-priced 9mm compact pistols that are reliable and specifically priced under $400. Given the high inflation rate and the state of the economy now, they want to buy a reliable and accurate compact pistol that is made by a reputable manufacturer for a low price. And several have said they do not want a very small, sub-compact, or micro-compact pocket pistol, recognizing that they are generally more difficult to shoot accurately, although easy to conceal. And there are many excellent ones out there. Another article for another time.

What was going through your mind at this particular moment? Thomas Binger, the prosecutor, asked in court.

On Friday, Governor Kristi Noem signed an Executive Order to protect South Dakotas Second Amendment rights from being infringed upon by financial institutions.

This Executive Order will protect the God-given right to keep and bear arms from being infringed upon by financial institutions, said Governor Noem. South Dakota is setting the standard for the most Second Amendment-friendly state in the nation. But its not just the media and big government that are attacking our rights. Now, we have seen banking institutions go after law-abiding gun owners. Well, not on my watch. I wont stand for it, not in South Dakota.

On the Saturday before Easter, the state Senates majority Democrats passed what they call an assault weapons ban. In reality, the bill targets several of the most popular sporting and self-defense firearms in the country, including most modern sporting rifles and even some shotguns used for hunting and competition shooting.

My Republican colleagues and I debated the measure for nearly three hours, using the amendment process to try to point out the fallacies of their arguments and mitigate some of the damage the bill would do to the rights of Washingtonians and small business owners who work as legal firearms dealers.

On the same day a jury convicted 35-year-old U.S. Army Sgt. Daniel Perry of murder, Fox News host Tucker Carlson blasted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for failing to appear on his show to discuss this legal atrocity.

So that is Greg Abbotts position, Carlson said. There is no right of self-defense in Texas.

Abbott responded the next day.

I am working as swiftly as Texas law allows regarding the pardon of Sgt. Perry, he tweeted.

Never mind that a jury had sat through more than a week of testimony and about 15 hours of deliberations before returning that verdict.

Two years ago, a pregnant Florida woman, armed with a semi-automatic rifle, gunned down one of two home invaders who had broken into her Tampa home.

The woman, who had a concealed weapons license, said the men were pistol whipping her husband when she grabbed her legally possessed firearm and fired one round.

The woman, who requested her identity be withheld, is one of the 2.5 million people who have a concealed weapons license in Florida, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. As of Feb. 28, one-third of the license holders were women.

Two years after a mass shooting at a FedEx facility in Indiana, survivors and victims' family members are suing the company that distributed the magazine used in the killings.

New York-based American Tactical sells high-capacity ammunition magazines (HCMs) that allow shooters to fire off 60 rounds of ammunition without reloading. That feature is "not necessary, or even useful, for lawful self-defense or hunting," a federal lawsuit filed Thursday argues. Court documents also allege that American Tactical is aware of how many times high-capacity magazines have been used in recent killings and that its decision to continue selling them is "reckless."

When a gunman entered a west Omaha Super Target in late January, he carried 13 loaded rifle magazines and a weapon that has gained symbolic stature in the national debate over guns: the AR-15.

Initially created for war, the AR-15s popularity among firearm owners has skyrocketed in the past two decades, thanks largely to marketing by the gun industry, the sleek American aesthetics of the weapon and other factors that have contributed to an overall jump in firearm ownership.

A bill that proposes banning paramilitary training in Vermont is poised to become law.

Gov. Phil Scott has indicated that hes likely to sign S.3, a bill lawmakers in the states House of Representatives passed on Friday after the Senate passed it in February.

The Governor hasnt reviewed the latest draft, but he is not opposed to the concept and barring any new additions that significantly changed the bill since the version the Senate originally approved, it is likely to become law, Jason Maulucci, the governors press secretary, wrote in an email.

A young husband and father bled to death after sustaining an accidental gunshot wound while driving home from work. As if that isnt sad enough, the man called 911 but never got through to a dispatcher. This tragic story illustrates some very important lessons that we would be wise to learn.

I came across a story posted this week on the KSDK St. Louis News 5 website. The article documented the tragic death of Richard Schlesing. Based on the news report, here is what happened.

The warring sides in the Rhode Island gun debate are headed to the State House on Monday for this year's battle over proposed new "safe firearm storeage" requirements and a proposed "assault weapons" ban.

And the battle once again pits those with heart-wrenching stories of lives lost to gun violence against those with an unshakeable belief in their right to own whatever firearms they choose for self-protection and sport. And the written testimony is already streaming in.

The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution states that we Americans have the right to keep and bear arms.

It is a constitutional check on power by the federal government and clearly intended as a means of protection for an individuals right to self-defense.

It was never intended to be restricted by Congress or the courts to just sporting events and hunting. Today the foundation of the Second Amendment is under attack by progressive politicians and a judicial system that believes the constitution is a fluid document that must evolve with the times.

Its become virtually impossible to find reliable data or polling on gun violence these days. A new Kaiser Family Foundation report being shared by virtually every major media outlet this week offers us a good example of why. The headlines report that 1 in 5 adults in the United States claim that a family member has been killed by a gun. And, lets just say, thats a highly dubious claim.

A federal judge in San Diego doubled down on a stay of his order forcing California to stop enforcing important components of its handgun control laws while the state appeals the ruling.

In March, Chief U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw sided with a group of gun owners and gun lobbying groups who claim provisions of Californias Unsafe Handgun Act violate their Second Amendment rights.

In his ruling, Sabraw also stayed his injunction pending the state's appeal of the ruling.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
When Pa was at home the gun always lay across those two wooden hooks above the door. ... The gun was always loaded, and always above the door so that Pa could get it quickly and easily, any time he needed a gun. Laura Ingalls Wilder
