Many deer have been harvested using a 30-30. It was marketed as a sporting cartridge, and it's held that reputation for over 100 years. A new cartridge on the market is ready to challenge the legendary 30-30. The 350 legend is eerily similar, with a few slight modifications to meet hunting regulations.

When it comes to self-defense, many shooters hold to the belief that you should shoot the caliber that has the best ballistics and the most stopping power that you can handle. These shooters like to favor a larger caliber bullet, such as the 10mm Auto.

Other shooters believe that the ideal defense round should be lightweight and low recoil, allowing for accurate and quick follow-up shots as modern jacketed hollow points (JHP) have made the caliber debate moot. These are typically your 9mm Luger concealed carry permit holders.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was scheduled to return to work in the Capital today, April 17th, 2023, after a six-week absence due to a severe fall and head injury. One of his top aides has denied widespread rumors of his impending retirement either from his leadership position or the Senate itself which have been picking up steam in recent days. Upon the 81-year-old McConnells return, hell face the issue of his colleague, 89-year-old Dianne Feinstein, who has also been absent due to illness. Her absence from the Senate Judiciary Committee has caused delays in the confirmation process for several of Joe Bidens judicial nominees.

In a single veto letter Monday, the governor vetoed both measures saying they do nothing to prevent gun violence. And she said if safety of school children is really a concern of lawmakers there are better ways to do that ways the Republican-controlled Legislature has refused to consider.

Rock Island Armory XT22 Magnum 1911

Rock Island has a well-earned reputation for guns punching above their weight class and for unexpected innovation. Their .22 TCM, a shortened .223 round adapted to a double-stack 1911 platform, easily rivals the performance of the 5.728 in a far less expensive package. Not only is the cartridge good, but the Rock Island pistols Ive shot it in functioned flawlessly and produced groups that could hurt the feelings of many more expensive handguns.

[O]ne would think supporting policies that let Americans carry any type of gun, anywhere, at anytime would be a losing proposition for any politician, much less one who wants to be president. And yet as I listened to Trump and the parade of equally craven Oval Office hopefuls who preceded him onstage I began to realize that he just might be right in his political calculation. Because, far from losing, the NRA seems to be winning. In fact, it might already have won, polls be damned.

Bond Arms continues to deliver Texas-made double-barreled derringer-style handguns, and the new Stubby fits the bill for an ultra-compact two-shot 9mm. Guns.com made sure to swing by the booth for one of Bond's principal distributors at the NRA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis last week to see just how Stubby the new pistol is in person. Based on Bond's Rough Series Stinger line, which deletes the trigger guard seen on most of the company's other pistols in the interest of increased concealability, the Stubby has a 2.2-inch barrel and an overall length of just 4.5 inches.

A pair of Michigan-based pro-firearm organizations, Great Lakes Gun Rights and Michigan Open Carry, Inc., have sued the state Legislature over its passage of gun safety bills recently signed into law by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, arguing lawmakers violated the Open Meetings Act by not properly allowing public comment on the legislation.

Last week, Whitmer signed legislation expanding background checks on firearm purchases and creating criminal penalties for gun owners who fail to keep firearms out of the hands of minors, commonly referred to as "safe storage" laws. A third proposal to temporarily confiscate guns from those deemed a risk to themselves or others by a court is also making its way through the legislature.

MI: Next round of gun safety bills pose bigger challenge for Michigan Democrats

Michigan Democrats ran into few hurdles during their first round of legislating on gun safety bills, easily passing laws that mandate safe storage of firearms and expands background checks during gun purchases.

A third law that deals with extreme risk protection orders or red flag laws looks like it will clear the legislature after passing on a narrow vote in the state House. The first round of bills could be considered low-hanging fruit.

The next round of gun safety bills comes with risks.

"It may take a little harder push for some of our activists gunfights activists on our side of the aisle when we go a little further," said Rep. Tyrone Carter (D-Detroit).
