Hawaii lawmakers in both chambers agree that legal permission for police to have sex with prostitutes should end. House and Senate members are still negotiating on the version of House Bill 1926 they will send to the governor. But they concur that the crime bill should revoke a peculiar exemption that permits police in Hawaii, in the course of their duties, to have sex with prostitutes. The bill began in the House and was amended as it passed out of that chamber's Judicial Committee. At the time, Honolulu police told lawmakers that vice officers needed the exemption in law to prevent pimps and prostitutes from knowing the limits of police methods. |

Gov. Nathan Deal plans to sign legislation next week that would vastly expand where Georgians can legally carry firearms.
House Bill 60, which passed in the final hours of this years legislative session, would expand where Georgians may legally carry firearms, including schools, bars, churches and government buildings. A recent analysis also said it could let felons use the states stand your ground rules to claim self-defense if they feel threatened. |

What Mr. Bundy's personal views about the federal government are has little to do with whether he's a domestic terrorist. And by most accounts, a large majority of demonstrators on the ranch were not armed and those that were never made any threatening moves toward the more than 200 armed federal agents who surrounded the ranch last month.
It's Harry Reid's attitude that is going to get people killed. When the government sees peaceful demonstrators as terrorists, and descends on a civilian's property with overwhelming force designed to intimidate the citizen into complying with the law, the question of self defense becomes relevant. |

Another month into 2014 means more victories for the Second Amendment Foundation.
SAFs latest victory came in New Mexico when the chief U.S. District Court judge granted a permanent injunction against the State of New Mexicos citizens only concealed carry law.
This discrimination ruling makes it increasingly difficult for gun control advocates to chip away at gun rights. It helps build case law. If legal aliens have rights, citizens obviously do, too. The more people that have rights in the U.S, the harder it will be for the anti-gunners to take those rights away. |

Springvilles Joylan Theatre was packed to the gills by Southtowners interested in hearing their elected officials thoughts about the New York SAFE Act.
The event was held April 14, the day before owners of military-style assault weapons were required to register them, according to the SAFE Act.
But speakers and attendees alike expressed their intent to exercise civil disobedience en masse, in opposition to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomos 2013 legislation. |

In coming days, approximately 80,000 Second Amendment enthusiasts from across the country will congregate in Indianapolis at the National Rifle Associations annual meeting. Last years annual meeting came on the heels of a huge victory for Americans and a humiliating loss for Michael Bloombergs campaign to ban guns. On the eve of this years meeting, Americas least liked billionaire once again opened his wallet and declared war on the Constitution.
Bloombergs initial multimillion-dollar investment into his anti-Second Amendment crusade failed. So here we go again, another $50 million and a new so-called gun safety organization dedicated to taking Americans guns. |

Gun rights protesters sure got to the meat of their arguments when discussing their issues with the Second Amendment and the National Rifle Association with MRCTVS Dan Joseph, and one anti-NRA woman even said only law enforcement officers should be able to have firearms.
Joseph headed down to the National Rifle Associations headquarters in Fairfax, Va., to tango with Second Amendment opponents set up in front of the building. |

Luckily, next weekends events in Indy will also feature another voice: Everytown for Gun Safety.
Launched this past week, Everytown combines the grassroots strength of Moms Demand Action and Mayors Against Illegal Guns. It will function as the most organized and passionate counterweight the Washington gun lobby has ever seen. And unlike the NRAs leadership, Everytown stands with the 90 percent of Americans who believe that support for the Second Amendment goes hand-in-hand with common-sense safety measures like background checks that we know keep Americans safer. |

If Michael Bloombergs pledge of $50 million to beat the NRA and his aggressive funding of Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (MDA), and now Everytown for Gun Safety teach conservatives anything, its that a tunnel-vision-like focus on Obamacare is a loser in November.
Conservatives are going to have to take up gun rights. They are going to have to champion and proudly own them as an expression of their commitment to the natural rights of the people defined in the Bill of Rights. |

While Senate action on S993 (gun ban / mag ban) still appears suspended without explanation during the legislatures April budget recess, Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs has learned that the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee is next scheduled to meet on the morning of Monday, May 5 2014.
While the agenda of that meeting has not yet been set, it should be regarded as the Senates next available opportunity to move this horrific legislation.
Gun owners should tentatively calendar May 5 2014 and be prepared to come to Trenton to attend the hearing in person and testify. We will issue follow-up alerts to confirm / clarify as we learn more about the schedule. |

Gun-free zones are targets. It is hard to grasp that military bases dont allow people to carry guns but most states do. Evidently Fort Hood has not done much to stop a second shooting from inflicting injury and death because it is not practical or feasible without treating everyone as if they were boarding a flight.
The right to carry for self defense should not be restricted for ones we have trained to carry and use weapons in defense of our country. Military and civilian personnel that work on federal property should be subject to the laws in place for the state in which they reside while on state-regulated property. |

This time, South Carolina lawmakers are attempting to expand their stand-your-ground law to give pregnant women the right to use deadly force to protect their unborn children, reports The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C.
Critics argue that the bill is unnecessary because the state already has one of the countrys broadest self-defense laws. |

A federal judge yesterday ruled that two Bay State men previously convicted of marijuana possession in other states could not be denied the right to have guns in their homes for self-defense purposes based on their prior drug crimes.
U.S. District Court Judge Richard Stearns ruled that Michael Wesson of Salisbury and Thomas Woods of Natick have a Second Amendment right to own firearms despite being convicted of possessing weed in the past. Sterns said the portion of the Massachusetts Gun Control Act that disqualifies gun applicants who had previously been convicted of possessing a controlled substance was unconstitutional, as applied to the two men. |

In Tennessee this past week, a bill designed to uphold Second Amendment protections with the implementation of Constitutional Open Carry was defeated in the Tennessee House. SB-2424, sponsored by Sen. Mae Beavers, passed the Senate by a vote of 25-2.
The corresponding HB-2409, sponsored by Rep. Micah Van Huss, was killed this past Monday night in a House subcommittee by a vote of 10-1, thereby ensuring the bill will not be allowed to come to the floor of the House for a full and open vote.
Why would politicians who earlier voiced support use every trick in the book to torpedo a bill overwhelmingly supported by the people of Tennessee and both the Tennessee and U.S. constitutions? |

In my mind, it is no coincidence that a similar line in the sand took place here in the middle of April, 2014, in the Nevada desert at a place strikingly similar in name to a famous Revolutionary War battlefield: a place called Bunkerville. |

When anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg announced 48 hours ago the launch of his $50 million grassroots gun control campaign, it took genuine grassroots gun rights activists only a few hours to create a major embarrassment for the ex-mayors new Everytown for Gun Safety (EGS) by grabbing the name, registering it on hundreds of Facebook pages, and creating a tsunami-sized backlash against this new anti-gun effort.
The man in the middle of all of this is Eric Reed, a Texas activist and founder of Gun Rights Across America (GRAA). He spoke last year at the annual Gun Rights Policy Conference in Houston and was awarded as the Grass Roots Activist of the Year by the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands? Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836 |
