Here's another story Greg Truscott probably wouldn't want us to run, because it exposes him as a savage who would rather hide the fact that his country's gun laws terrorize and victimize innocents and sic lawyers on those who would expose that fact.
The UK gun ban still doesn't seem to be working Mr. Truscott. Will you try to silence the messengers who would broadcast this truth? |

"For instance, Hemenway pointed out, 'all evidence' shows that a gun in the home increases occupants' chances of dying as a victim of homicide, suicide, or unintentional shooting. 'All the data' are consistent in finding that geographic areas and populations with greater gun inventories experience greater rates of gun death."
------- Objectivity to Hemenway is what garlic is to a vampire or showers are to Michael Moore. You would think a Harvard researcher would better understand that he has repeatedly failed to establish a CAUSATIVE link. "Those who deny that the original meaning of the Second Amendment protected an individual right to keep and bear arms on a par with the rights of freedom of speech, press and assembly no longer claim that the amendment refers only to a collective right of states to maintain their militias. Instead, they now claim that the right, although belonging to individuals, was conditioned on service in an organized militia. With the demise of organized militias, they contend, the right lost any relevance to constitutional adjudication. In this essay, I evaluate the case made for this historical claim by Richard Uviller and William Merkel in their book, The Militia and the Right to Arms, or, How the Second Amendment Fell Silent. I also evaluate their denial that the original meaning of Fourteenth Amendment protected an individual right to arms unconditioned on militia service. I find both claims inconsistent with the available evidence of original meaning and also, perhaps surprisingly, with existing federal law." |

A 14-year-old student has been suspended from his school after police received reports that he was waving a handgun from his school bus.
The gun turned out to be a plastic lighter. No one was injured.
According to East Providence police, a teacher driving by the bus early Wednesday spotted the boy holding what appeared to be a gun.
Police were alerted and officers boarded the bus.
When they approached the student, the boy said all he had was a lighter.
Police and school officials said the teen could face charges. He was suspended because of the school's zero-tolerance policy on weapons.
The teen is not being named because of his age. He attends the Watters School in East Providence. |

"After hearing his apology for making a mistake, the School Committee last night agreed to reduce a 13-year-old middle school students suspension for bringing a knife to school."
"The decision lowering the suspension from 10 to six days came after the committee reviewed the 13-year-old boys case in a rare public disciplinary hearing." "Yesterday was apparently 'Second Amendment Day' at CU-Boulder. Who knows their Constitution?"
"The right to bear arms seems to rear its debatably ugly head every few years at CU. Though the Colorado Attorney General found last year that the CU Regents' ban on concealed weapons on campus was legal, CU's College Republicans are hardly surrendering their belief in their right to carry a gun on campus."
"For their 'Second Amendment Day' Wednesday, the Republicans held a presentation at the University Memorial Center's Dalton Trumbo Memorial Fountain featuring speakers and informational displays about guns. CU Republicans contend that the Regents' laws banning concealed-carry are unconstitutional and are asking they be repealed."

"About 100 middle school students wore pink to protest restrictions imposed by school officials concerned that the color was associated with gang activity."
"The protest Wednesday at Clifford Pierce Middle School resulted in mass wardrobe changes, said Principal James Joiner." ...
"No students were disciplined for wearing pink, he said."
"Joiner said he understood that students might feel the policy is unfair, but he said the protest -- which included roughly one-tenth of the student body -- distracted from education." ...
"Superintendent Tony Lux said the policy had been misinterpreted as a ban." ...
"However, the wearing of any color when worn by groups of students to set themselves apart as an exclusive group ... will be investigated as possibly violating the student handbook regarding the wearing of gang colors."
------- Not only was the ban an asinine idea in the first place, but now the school administration is backtracking and claiming that there never was a ban, even as they continue enforcing it. Lessons from the Ministry of Truth:
1. Putting gang activity out of sight and out of mind is a viable solution.

"A UM student is facing a felony criminal charge accusing him of firing a toy pistol out of his dormitory window and striking a passing motorist in the face with a plastic pellet."
"The newest case renews the controversy over airsoft pistols, which have been classified as firearms by the County Prosecutor's Office."
"At least three men have been charged locally with carrying a concealed weapon for possession of airsoft guns."
"But Conover's attorney said authorities misjudged the weapon used and he was confident that it did not meet the legal standard of a dangerous weapon under Michigan law."
"The law defines a dangerous weapon as one that when used, is likely to cause death or serious injury, said John Shea." |

"The pistol and rifle club is holding its first meeting today at the University of Florida. Treasurer Andrew Kwan hopes the new club will encourage responsibility and safety among students who own firearms."
"Kwan started the club with co-founder Robert Shulte and says the club will cover all aspects of firearms including improved marksmanship and gun-handling. Kwan hopes one day the pistol and rifle club will be able to compete against other universities." |

"Businesses throughout Ohio are taking measures for when the state's new concealed-carry law takes effect April 8, the Akron Beacon Journal reported March 29."

"The law allows business owners to prohibit guns in their offices or stores, but signs have to be posted at all entrances." ------- Criminals: Look for the signs.

"Now comes the new federal No Child Left Behind law's little known regulations, one of which mandates that students who are suspended or expelled for fighting or carrying drugs, alcohol or weapons at school must carry the record of their wrongdoings with them when they move to a new school." ...
"No one should be unfairly flagged. But information about what one did in the past certainly gives those in charge of our school system a heads up about the possibilities that could occur in the future. ..."
------- With children getting disciplinary records for carrying lighters and keychains in the form of a gun, getting suspended for threatening to shoot a rubberband at another student or bringing a small knife to school to cut their fruit, is it any wonder there is hesitation about their "records" following them for the rest of their school careers?
With kids being disciplined for lending a friend Advil or asthma medication or even sharing a lemon drop and being prosecuted for it, is hesitation so surprising? |
MI: ERIC SHARP: Advice to Granholm: Don't veto dove bill

"Here's my suggestion: Let the bill become law without Granholm's signature, then give us a dove season next fall to see how it works out. Tens of thousands of people would take part in the hunt. A lot of them would be the same deer, duck and grouse hunters who told pollsters they oppose dove hunting, but will try this new sport and find they like it." ...
"If Granholm vetoes the dove bill, she will give ammunition to Second Amendment zealots who have tried to label her as a gun-grabbing friend of the animal rights movement. ..."
------- Funny how people who support the Second Amendment are labeled as "zealots," while people who use the First Amendment to vilify the Second apparently don't recognize their own hypocrisy.
