A swatch of color reined me in. Over the next hour several elk winked in and out of timber below but the slope was rock-rolling steep. I dared not move. Then, an aspen shivered. The cows eased by it, passed my K4s crosswire in a gap not much wider than a Harley, then vanished. The aspen kept shaking. Suddenly a long antler slammed it down. |

Bad ideas are hard to kill, especially in Congress. One of the worst has been this notion of licensing gun owners at the federal level. This was something anti-Second Amendment extremists have wanted since 1968 and you can read how angry Lyndon Baines Johnson was that such provisions were not in the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Washington Street in Newtonville is a bustling, commercial street. Lots of traffic. In the 700 block are a variety of shops, including a massage business and a pot shop. So when Newton Firearms quietly emerged, few people knew it. There is no big sign. Just a piece of paper taped to the door, saying to call for an appointment. We tried, with no luck. |
