MD: Is Maryland Attorney General Frosh Ignorant or is He Dishonest?

Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh said that the state is justified in banning modern rifles because those weapons have been used to commit mass murder. The Attorney General failed to mention the far larger number of cases where honest citizens used a rifle for justified self-defense. If this is an omission then it is an oversight the size of the Grand Canyon.

Several high-profile homicide cases in the Lubbock area have involved one common element: the claim of self-defense.

Rene Quintanilla was arrested and held on murder charges for fatally shooting Robert Rodriguez in 2020. However, he never faced a criminal trial after a grand jury deemed his actions as self defense and declined to indict him.

William Kyle Carruth also claimed self-defense after fatally shooting Chad Read on November 5, 2021, and he was never arrested or charged. Similarly to Quintanilla, a grand jury declined to indict Carruth.

Permitless carry will put our communities in danger, says Cathy Weinmann of Indiana Moms Demand Action. We cannot let this attack on public safety go unanswered and must hold our leaders accountable at the ballot box.

However, multiple studies show no violent crime increases because of the growing constitutional carry trend. Law enforcement in West Virginia, a state that passed constitutional carry in 2016, is on record saying there is little to no policing issue with the change or an increase in violent crime.

Congressman Chris Jacobs, R-Orchard Park, led 15 representatives in introducing the Protecting Gun Owners in Bankruptcy Act to ensure an individuals right to self-defense is not stripped due to financial hardship.

The legislation would modify federal bankruptcy law to allow an individual debtor to exempt from their bankruptcy estate one or more firearms up to a total maximum value of $3,000.

The bill also specifies that such firearms are household goods that are not subject to liens in bankruptcy.

The importance of this issue is on full display in Indiana, where concern about crime has risen dramatically. According to a recent survey by SafeWise, 68% of Hoosiers think crime is increasing, with 44% saying theyre concerned about it daily. In addition, only about one in two Hoosiers feel safe in the state. While these statistics are concerning, theyre not surprising given rising crime has been a national trend in recent years. After the most violent year in Indianas history in 2020, a new criminal homicide record was set in early November 2021. Rightfully so, Hoosiers are worried about unexpected danger that could come their way and many are taking active steps to protect themselves.

Yesterday, the Senate Transportation Committee held a public hearing and immediately went into executive session to vote ought to pass on ATV Carry, House Bill 1636. Thanks to the strong support of NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters, this legislation will move to the Senate floor for further consideration this session.

House Bill 1636: ATV-Carry allows the carry of a loaded firearm on an Off-Highway Recreation Vehicle (OHRV) or snowmobile. This legislation also helps to clean up the law from when Permitless Carry was passed and a snowmobile prohibition remained.

First, the bill is not effective until July 1, 2022, so the permit requirements remain in place until then.

Once July 1 comes, any individual wanting to purchase a firearm from a Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer will still have to undergo a background check in order to complete the purchase, just as they have always done. The FFL dealers will check the FBIs National Instant Background Check System to verify that an individual is a proper person under federal law to possess a firearm. Individuals will not be required to complete fingerprint testing for this.

Nikki Fried, Floridas agriculture and consumer services commissioner, filed a Second Amendment lawsuit against the federal government Wednesday that seeks to allow the states medical marijuana cardholders to purchase and possess firearms.

Fried announced the litigation at the Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference in Miami Beach on the 4/20 cannabis holiday.

The lawsuit targets what Fried said is a conflict between state and federal law, with medical marijuana being legal in Florida and 37 other states and no evidence suggesting medical marijuana use makes people more dangerous or violent.

When Russias president, Vladimir Putin, unleashed World War II-style horrors on the Ukrainian people, those Ukrainians stood up to this tyrant and showed the world why, to really be free, the people need their natural right to keep and bear arms.

Just after Russian forces began the invasion in late February, a member of Ukraines parliament told Fox News he got a gun from a local police department that was handing them out like candy. Indeed, more than 25,000 firearms were handed to residents of Ukraine just after Russia began its attack.

The embattled Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives was rocked again this week when an insider favored for the bureau's top job was abruptly demoted after being passed over a second time by President Joe Biden.

Reports said that acting Director Marvin Richardson, the highest-ranking black man at the agency who had 30 years of experience with ATF, announced Monday that he was being shoved aside by the White House. Biden last week chose a white lawyer to head the sprawling law enforcement agency after his first pick, another white male, bowed out under pressure.

Gov. Brian Kemp is making his way around South Georgia to talk about what he believes are several key issues in his re-election campaign.

Many people gathered together at the Southern Woods Plantation in Sylvester to hear him speak.

Kemp said the number of Republicans on the ballot in the governors race this general primary doesnt bother him.

I feel great. You know were working hard, not taking anything for granted. You can see were drawing great crowds. A lot of enthusiasm going into the primary, Kemp said. But look, my ultimate goal is to make sure that we keep Stacey Abrams from being governor of Georgia.

NY: A landmark gun case could change New Yorks concealed carry lawor worse

The case currently before the Supreme Court really has the potential to totally upend the system that New York has had in place for over 100 years, says David Pucino, deputy chief counsel at Giffords Law Center, which filed an amicus brief in the case. Should the court rule in favor of the plaintiffs, it would strike down New Yorks stringent law and potentially allow anyone to obtain a concealed carry permit; an even broader ruling could open the floodgates to revisiting a host of other common-sense gun laws. Its the most significant Supreme Court case to determine the fundamental intent of the Second Amendment since 2008s District of Columbia v. Heller...

.44 Magnum Concealed Carry

One rule of thumb in the shooting world is that bigger guns are easier to shoot but harder to conceal, whereas small guns are easy to conceal but more difficult to shoot. Ive spent most of my shooting career in the big gun arena due to a penchant for handgun hunting, but as more and more states have acknowledged the validity of the second amendment and the need for personal self-defense, my attention has been captured by the importance of concealed carry. Ive always been comforted by the presence of large calibers when afield, especially the .44 Magnum, but when one leaves Americas vast hunting areas and ventures back into civilization, how does one maintain some level of comfort with the idea of a .44 Magnum for concealed carry?

Today, the Nebraska Legislature adjourned from its 2022 Legislative Session. This session saw the introduction and strong support of Constitutional Carry Legislation, Legislative Bill 773. Unfortunately, the measure failed to garner the required 33 votes to pass on its second round and failed. Bill sponsor, Senator Tom Brewer, has vowed to bring the measure back next year, and your NRA-ILA will be there to see it through!

Thank you to NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters who consistently contacted their legislators in support of Constitutional Carry this session. Also, thank you to those Senators who supported our right to self-defense and continued to vote in SUPPORT of Legislative Bill 773.

Bob Ed Culver, a Republican, has filed for reelection in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

"We've made great strides, ensuring Cherokee County is strongly represented at the state Capitol," said Culver. "I'm proud to protect our values, defend our rural schools and stop federal government overreach. This is not about partisan politics; it's about Cherokee County roads, schools, small businesses, institutions and health care facilities. It's about working together without compromising on core principles."
