"Paradoxically, the Ohio Court of Appeals decision may, therefore, finally drive the Ohio governor and legislature to enact a "shall issue" licensing scheme. It may be the only way left to address the terrible fear that Ohioans may begin exercising their rights without benefit of state supervision or approval. Heavens!" -- Jeff Snyder

"President Bush took an oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." The time has come to prove it emphatically and precisely with official notification to the United Nations that the United States hereby "unsigns" the ICC Treaty or whatever fancy diplomatic sweet talk will let the globalists know that America is having no part of their World Court. Period!"

Lee Leonard of the Columbus Dispatch (a statehouse reporter) has written a very good op-ed piece about Concealed Carry legislation.

Unlike other articles on this issue, Mr. Leonard discusses how the SAF/OFCC/PRO legal victory which has made one county in Ohio "Vermont Carry" will play a role in future legislative developments, such as improving upon the bill itself.

* "Refuse to supply stores that sell more than 20 guns used in crimes in a year."
* "Refuse to sell guns to dealers who resell them at gun shows."

"Guns do not kill people! ... The truth is people kill people. Sometimes they use guns; sometimes they use blades; sometimes they use baseball bats; and sometimes they use their hands. ... People were killing each other long before the first black-powder device was invented (remember, Cain killed Abel with a rock) ... It is insane to disarm ourselves only to be left at the mercy of criminals who are no more troubled by the States new laws than they were with the old ones."

"The post-Sept. 11 policy for screening passengers at U.S. airports does not single out anyone because of race or age. As a result, a 70-year-old grandmother might find herself being frisked. Security screeners might also ask the elderly woman to take her shoes off so they can check for a shoe bomb."

"A Hooksett man who thought and acted fast is being credited with helping to catch a suspected bank robber. James Cartmill, a 6'5", 250lb father of two, was in the Cathedral Credit Union in Manchester on Friday afternoon when the teller told him a man who just left the bank had robbed her."

"Cartmill walked up to the man and announced he was making a citizens arrest" and "used tricks he had learned working in security to grab the man and pin him to the ground."

KABA NOTE: Interesting story of a heroic man, but this is definitely NOT a good idea for everyone to try.

"I was recently quoted in Jon Doughertys WorldNetDaily piece about H.R.218, titled Gun-rights groups oppose police exemption. The response has been polar. Interestingly, lawyers, Ph.D.s, civil libertarians and some law enforcement types agree with me. Others (despite my 30 years of supporting law enforcement) feel I am being anti-cop."

"Rampant crime, a police force riddled with corruption and a growing conviction that authorities were powerless to guarantee safe streets has pushed Mexico's elites to turn to armor-plated vehicles."

"The reasons behind the boom are readily apparent ... congressmen estimate that among Mexico City's 18 million inhabitants, there are 500,000 illegal handguns, which are available on the black market ... All types of arms are out there, which makes armor-plating a general necessity."

KABA NOTE: Another "victory" for gun control -- creating victims out of law-abiding citizens.

"From the Maine woods to the New Mexico desert, rural America is disputed territory in the battle for control of the House this fall, and Democrats are appealing for votes across a cultural divide of gun control, abortion and religion. Which helps explain why Stephen Udall, running in Arizona, says, "In my pickup truck I've got a shovel, I've got a set of wrenches and I've got my rifle."

"Munden says the gun was her dad's, Horton Williamson, but that gun is normally locked up. She says, "The last thing my daddy wanted to happen is for one of his guns, the bullet to go through a child." Just like many families, they didn't think it could happen to them, but it did. No charges are being filed."

KABA NOTE: Tragedies happen. But remember that many more children are killed every day in vehicle accidents, and every year in drownings.
