Despite coronavirus lockdown measures, murders in New York City have doubled for the second consecutive week.
But over the last 28 days -- during which the city has observed lockdowns and other pandemic safety measures -- that number has spiked. Murder has increased by 55 percent: 28 murders vs. 18 in the same period last year.
Submitter's note: Of course it wouldn't have anything to do with the police practicing self preservation instead of policing. |

A DW investigation has found that protest groups in various US states against recent coronavirus lockdown measures were set up by conservative gun lobbyists. The coordinated effort seems to be driven by the apparent long-term aim of building a larger base of support for gun law relaxation.
This comes after thousands of people across the US organized online and started to demand an end to stay-at-home orders. Protest organizers claim on their Facebook pages that the lockdown restrictions are a result of "politicians on a power trip," who they allege are "destroying our businesses, passing laws behind the cover of darkness, and forcing us to hand over our freedoms and livelihood." |

Judge Frank Patrick Yeatts of the Lynchburg Circuit Court will make a decision on Monday regarding a challenge to Governor Ralph Northams Executive Order 53.
The plaintiffs in the case; the Citizens Defense League, Gun Owners of America, SafeSide Lynchburg, and the Association of Virginia Gun Ranges; argue that indoor gun ranges should be considered essential and allowed to reopen. Attorney David Brown cited the Second Amendment and argued that ranges are needed for gun owners to be properly trained to handle a firearm. |

Three-term New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo recently bemoaned President Donald Trumps leadership during the coronavirus pandemic, stating We dont have a king in this country. We didnt want a king, so we have a Constitution and we elect a president.
Perhaps the Guv should look in the mirror before opening his mouth.
Gov. Cuomo has used his daily time in front of press conference bright lights to knock the president. But he has his own king-like history of overstepping as the Empire States top elected official. Thats especially true now during the pandemic, and especially when it comes to the Second Amendment and the Constitutional rights of New Yorkers. |

The woman called her husband before calling 911. By that point, Reyes had noticed the woman and began trying to break into the house. By the time the husband got home...
He got back up again, and came at the homeowner and the homeowner fired one shot with a shotgun, hitting the guy in the right knee/upper leg, and breaking his femur, said Duke.
Reyes is now at a hospital in Fort Worth, while the Wichita County sheriffs office works to present this case to the district attorneys office. The homeowners case will then be heard before a grand jury to decide if he was acting in self-defense, something Sheriff Duke believes is evident. |

Nearly 20 years ago, the Fifth Circuit held that a federal law prohibiting people subject to domestic violence protective orders from possessing guns or ammo was constitutional. And the caselaw has not developed in a way to change that conclusion, says the Fifth Circuit, though two-thirds of the panel separately encourage the court to take the issue en banc to consider an entirely different framework for Second Amendment challenges. |

Currently, regulations pertaining to these areas authorize the use and possession of firearms only for specified purposes, including hunting or at designated shooting ranges, or with written permission from the District Commander who has jurisdiction over the area in question. |

A Middleborough gun shop owner is defying Massachusetts Governor Charlie Bakers ban on gun shops during the coronavirus emergency, instead offering curbside service to customers similar to the way restaurants are offering takeout food to customers.
This thing with the governor, all the rest of the country, most gun shops are open. This governor, his plan is to shut down the gun shops, not because the spread of the pandemic, its all about taking away our rights. Its all about preventing the sales of guns, said John Costa, owner of The Gunrunner, of Midddleborough, according to MassLive.com. |

Gun control activists from coast to coast are cheering Virginia Democrats who have accomplished what most of them achieve only in their dreams.
Lawmakers in the Democratic-controlled legislature put the finishing touches on enacting Governor Ralph Northam's destruction of Second Amendment rights in the state. Earlier this year, Democrats passed 5 bills, each one worse than the last, including laws that make it illegal to purchase more than one gun a month, background checks on all state gun sales, and being fined $250 for not reporting a stolen gun in 48 hours. |
