Wayne Shaw seemed to have all the conservative credentials needed to win reelection to his state Senate seat in Oklahoma two years ago. The mild-mannered pastor with deep ties to the community had a solidly conservative voting record during his eight years in office. But when Shaw, as chair of the Senate Public Safety Committee, declined to hear a bill to allow people to carry guns into bars, he drew the ire of an unemployed truck driver who was passionate about gun rights.

Florida-based SAR USA is now importing a new polymer-frame striker-fired 9mm, the SAR9 Compact X. A more carry-friendly take on the SAR9 X, the Compact X runs a 4-inch hammer-forged barrel, giving it an overall length of 7.2 inches. When coupled with its standard 15+1 capacity, this puts the new SAR in the same neighborhood as the Glock 19, FN 509, CZ P-10C, and S&W M&P9 M2.0 Compact both in terms of size and capacity. Standard features include a modular frame with interchangeable grip panels, slide lightening cuts that double as forward serrations, a factory optics cut for a micro red dot, and a Cerakoted slide.

He must have been thinking about those days long past, for Tony Egan emailed more to me the next day: The fox hunt back in the 1960s, and 1970s and I think even later is a whole Valley story unto itself. The organization was called the Green Mountain Hounds and if you want a full rundown and history, you should probably call Jane Hobart. The most important thing to know is that the GMH Hunt was a "drag" hunt. Live foxes were never part of the equation.

These days, women are a rapidly growing percentage of licensed hunters in the state. From 2010 to 2020, the number rose from 17,078 to 23,723, an increase of 39 percent.

As we look at the new guns being introduced this year, some trends seem to be emerging. While micro 9 mm carry guns are still being introduced, some established manufacturers of such pistols are making versions just a little longer for improved ergonomics. Optic-ready or optic-equipped pistols continue to increase in number. Also, enhanced-capacity pistols chambered in the new 30 Super Carry are already hitting the market, but these are just the tip of what is predicted to be an iceberg. While it might be tempting to think older technology like revolvers isn't seeing much innovation, there's still a lot of new wheelguns coming to the market in 2022.

Action shooting organizations divide their semi-automatic handgun competitors into separate divisions to assure that like guns shoot against like guns. The United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) and its affiliate Steel Challenge (SCSA) use the same gun division rules, although SCSA has no Power Factor (PF). Further, the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) has its own gun division rules.

In 1906, the U.S. Army adopted the .30-06 to stay ahead of the advancing technology of firearms and ammunition. The U.S. military based its primary battle rifles on this cartridge for the next half century. And although created for battle, the .30-06 was also rapidly accepted by civilian shooters. At first the round was not standardized, though this later changed.
