"The Stand Your Ground movement, in my surmise anyway, includes the battle against the abuse of invoking eminent domain, as many states have re-examined eminent domain and have passed laws making it more difficult for authorities to back the confiscation of private property for the investment/so-called better use of others."

"Who knows? Maybe America is turning back to its core values with the realization now of what its really been all about all along. Freedom from ambitious officials. The never-ending battle against the looting of America."

"Stand Your Ground laws such as affirming self-defense and disallowing confiscation of weapons from law-abiding, not to mention confiscation of private property reflect a respect of constituents and an understanding of the nature of the relationship between officials and the governed. As an official, its hard to go wrong when you listen to the will of the people and have a similar values system, and across America, the Stand Your Ground movement has gotten legs in the multi-faceted protection of the Home."

"The recent 'gun summit' led by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was yet another example of the anti-gun movement proving that their own cause has failed." ...

"Considering the mountain of evidence that disproves gun-control as a viable way to reduce crime it is inexplicable that the mayors of two of America's largest cities could be so ill-informed on the issue."

"The Illinois State Rifle Association said Thursday it is taking a second look at a planned July boycott against Jewel Food Stores and Osco pharmacies."

"After learning the partnering stores donated $10,000 instead of $100,000 to the 'Save a Life, Build the Dream' fund, the ISRA is rethinking its boycott plans."

"There is a reasonable level of concern that every Kansan who receives this permit will not be able to handle the responsibility that comes along with being a gun owner. Sure there will be National Riffle Association members and some citizens who view this concern as an exaggeration. There will be those who argue this law is a victory for individual freedom that puts the power back in the hands of the people. But while they are celebrating, lives are being put in jeopardy as guns take center stage in violent activity throughout the state."

"Senate Bill 318, introduced by Sen. Peter Bragdon, R-Amherst, and passed by the House on Wednesday, allows citizens not on their own property, but in a place they have a right to be, to use deadly force against an aggressor without first trying to flee or surrender property."

"Opponents have focused on guns and claimed, as always, that more freedom to use firearms would lead to trigger-happy vigilantism and fill the streets with blood. That is baseless fearmongering. ..."

"No citizen should face prison for standing up to an attacker. With the stroke of a pen, Gov. Lynch can remove the unnecessary flight-or-surrender restriction that curtails our right to defend ourselves. He should do it without hesitation or regret."

FULL TEXT BELOW:

A real pistol made almost entirely of plastic has turned up during a drug bust in New Jersey.

And that's adding to fears that something similar could pass right through an airport security scanner.

The unusual weapon concerned the Essex County Sheriff so much, he took it to Newark Liberty Airport to see whether it looked like a weapon in the X-ray machines. It didn't. Only the benign-looking metal barrel was visible.

The guns are known to police departments, but haven't turned up often in public.

The sheriff tells The Star-Ledger newspaper he wants to warn other law enforcers that drug dealers may be getting their hands on the plastic pistols, putting them into wider circulation.

" 'Shelton's attitude is outrageous, especially for someone who holds public office and is supposed to serve the people, not violate their civil rights,' said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. ..."

"...Unfortunately, Shelton's attitude reflects that of far too many Democrats, whose party leaders still seem far more interested in locking up people's guns than they are in locking up criminals."

"Mayor Bloomberg scored a major legal victory yesterday when a Brooklyn federal judge ruled that the city can use federal data tracing the history of illegal guns in its suit against nine weapons makers."

"But Judge Jack Weinstein ruled that the ban - attached to a federal budget bill - only applied to the future use of such information."

"The city was exempt from the measure, he said, because it received the data before the ban was approved."

"...Up to now, Bloomberg has been playing footsie with pro-gun politicians, knowing full well that the number of horrendous deaths of children in our city would drop if grinning pols, their campaign accounts flush with gun-lobby cash, would stop voting against restrictions on the sale of firearms."

"That brings us to the case of Rep. Vito Fossella of Staten Island, who co-chaired Bloomberg's reelection committee last year. Fossella, who has a B-plus rating from the National Rifle Association, along with $9,000 in contributions from the group since 1999, has a long record of battling the reforms Bloomberg now champions."

"Gun control isn't working for Boston. Maybe it's not the way to go. Maybe the best thing that Boston and New York can do is call for the common citizen to learn how to use a gun, and to take gun safety courses. I would say, 'Hey Mayor Bloomberg. Mayor Menino. Mayor Greg Nickels of Seattle. Encourage the average, law-abiding, responsible citizens of your cities to apply for concealed carry permits. Encourage people to be capable and well-trained to use guns.'"
