If you dont have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one, Jesus once told his disciples. Also Jesus: all who draw the sword will die by the sword and turn the other cheek. These words exemplify the very different portraits of Jesus that Christians have when it comes to issues like gun control, gun rights, and self-defense. Is it ethical to defend oneself or ones family? Does Jesus want his people to be packing?

Police claim they saw Zhao at a local range shooting a semi-automatic rifle with a 30-round magazine. Virginia prohibits non-citizens from having guns with magazines holding more than 20 rounds. |

Rare is the day that someone doesnt walk into CI Shooting Sports and ask to see one of the semi-automatic rifles hanging on the wall behind the counter. Recognized as the most popular rifle in America, the ArmaLite-15 (commonly known as the AR-15) is a variant of the M-16 series of rifles and carbines used by the military. Gun owners admire its lighter weight, ease for modifications and accuracy at up to 500 yards. |

Gun control advocates have long complained that Second Amendment supporters balk whenever it comes to giving the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) tax dollars to study gun uses. Its not so much that we oppose research about gun violence; its more that we have some apprehension about a predisposition toward anti-gun bias in such research. After all, the CDC, in one of its early ventures in the gun violence research field, published a flawed study in 1993 that was designed to support the gun control argument. |

Remember the case of the second-grader who was suspended because he supposedly bit his toaster pastry into the shape of a gun on purpose? If you thought the war on guns couldnt get any more ridiculous, you might be wrong. News flash from anti-gunners: Beware of the killer T-shirts! Thats right. The latest death threat that anti-gunners see comes from a simple piece of cotton with some ink on it. Here are some recent examples of why methinks theyre taking this to the absurd. |

Last month, Martin Palla, a police officer in Western Pennsylvania, learned this the hard way. Palla, who polices Rostraver Township, stood watching the March for Our Lives anti-gun rally in nearby Greensburg, dressed in a deep red flannel pullover jacket and khakis with his AR-15 slung over his shoulder and his dog by his side.

There was a time when horror over gun violence stood a chance of prodding national politicians to act on their outrage. Half a century ago, politicians seemed particularly amenable to tougher measures if a shooting victim was one of their own. After the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and then mere months after the murders of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Congress was moved in 1968 to enact a gun control law. |

A Crawfordsville church says it is trying to make its community safer by giving out grocery gift cards in exchange for peoples unwanted guns. And while the goal was to get firearms off the streets, it also got people talking. The debate over guns is always one that gets folks fired up. But if this event proved one thing, its that people who have completely different opinions can still find a way to agreeably disagree. |
