"In 1995, when I moved to Knox County from northeast Ohio, I looked forward to subscribing to The Dispatch. But after a year or so, I became disenchanted with the editorial slant of the paper. In particular, I found its incessant anti-Second Amendment editorials and its relentless anti-gun stance a source of irritation.

So, I dropped my subscription.

I still would pick up a Sunday edition occasionally to catch up on columnist Dave Barry."

"It is incredible to me that there are people, such as the one who wrote the April 1 Dispatch editorial, who simply can't understand that not all of us are sniveling cowards ("Gunning for votes?').

Not all of us are willing to stake our safety and that of our families on a 911 call. Some of us have been robbed at gunpoint by a stranger who very easily could have killed us. And some of us are perfectly capable of protecting ourselves without having to call for help."

The stepfather found the suspect running from the building, and the two men fought. The suspect broke free and ran away. Because he suffered blood loss, the man probably suffered injuries significant enough for him to seek medical treatment."

In 1999, according to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 28,000 Americans died by firearms, giving guns the infamous distinction as the second leading cause of product-related death behind motor vehicles.
