Introduced by Hornady in 2002, the .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire (HMR) was designed for shooters who desire a fast, lightweight rimfire cartridge. It's especially popular among varmint hunters, who prefer the .17 HMR for its high velocity and flat trajectory.
The .17 HMR has impressive ballistics. Bullets weigh between 15.5 grains and 20 grains ammo this small, propelled by the comparatively large powder loads in the .22 Magnum case, travel at high velocities. Some loads have a muzzle velocity as high as 2,550 feet per second. But even with those high speeds, muzzle energy for this round is only about 250 foot pounds, which is plenty for shooting varmints and targets at long distances.

A federal court case out of California which might ultimately wind up before the U.S. Supreme Court offers proof beyond a reasonable doubt elections matter, especially when it comes to the presidency and U.S. Senate so always vote. The case in question is Duncan v. Becerra, with a remarkable history, considering its origin. California, and more importantly the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, has not been friendly to gun owners or the Second Amendment. However, this one could provide some balance to the books. |

Fire-rated gun safes represent the most secure storage option available to the average gun owner. The heavy-gauge steel of the outer box, the complex locking mechanism and security features of the door all work together to frustrate the efforts of burglars and to keep firearms tucked away from those who are not authorized to use them. Many models are designed to be bolted to the surfaces on which they rest, making them much more difficult to carry away. They also provide dedicated rifle racks, handgun storage shelves and lined interiors, which keep collections well organized while protecting gun finishes from dings and scratches. |

While innumerable people love to travel and see the world, it can still often times be a stressful event until you arrive at your destination. Sometimes you cannot get to the airport on time, your shuttle is late, the security checkpoint is log-jammed with people, and/or you get an all too friendly pat down you did not sign up for. All in all, I love to travel, but like many people there are a lot of tiny, stressful obstacles in the way.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation is reporting that the NSSF-adjusted figures for background checks related to gun sales in March were the second strongest for the month on record, and were likely spurred by calls for tougher gun laws following two high-profile mass shooting incidents.
It is clear that firearm sales in March were driven by gun control calls from politicians to ban entire classes of firearms and enact onerous gun laws, suggested Mark Oliva, NSSF public affairs director. Americans continue to vote with their wallets when it comes to lawful firearm ownership. |

Yesterday, the Colorado House gave final approval to gun owner victimization legislation, Senate Bill 78. Following a procedural vote in the Senate, the measure will soon be sent to the desk of Governor Jared Polis, and he needs to hear from you now! Senate Bill 78 victimizes gun owners who suffer loss or theft of their property with a fine if they dont report a lost or stolen firearm within five days of discovering it missing. A firearm owner should not be held liable for the crimes committed by a person who has illegally obtained their firearm. Individuals should not be further victimized after experiencing a burglary or other crime. |

After then-presidential candidate Beto ORourke proclaimed in 2019, Hell, yes, were going to take your AR-15, dozens of counties across the State of Texas passed resolutions pledging to refuse the enforcement of any unconstitutional firearm restrictions. With the increased likelihood of stricter federal gun regulations coming into fruition under the Biden administration and a Democrat-controlled Congress, the idea of a Second Amendment sanctuary has been brought to the limelight in Texas again, this time at the state level.

Carrying a firearm without a permit in Texas may have a new chance to become law this year. The Texas House Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee favorably reported a bill that would allow permitless carry in the Lone Star State. House Bill 1911, would allow Texans over 21 years of age to carry a firearm without the standard licensing. It would also eliminate required firearms training.

Governor Brad Little has signed the Shooting Range Protection Act, Senate Bill 1055, into law. The signing of this legislation is a huge victory for Idaho gun owners, sportsmen, and shooting ranges. The measure went into effect on March 19th. Senate Bill 1055 clarifies and enhances the protections on sport shooting ranges under Idaho law. So much fuss in the past several weeks has been about the Georgia election bill. Naturally, given the legacy medias editorializing of the false premise that Republican Gov. Brian Kemps signed measure restricts voting rights, the leftist mob has sought to put pressure on corporations to denounce S.B. 202. Thus, Major League Baseball cratered. The MLB announced last Friday the relocation of its All-Star Game, which was scheduled in July at Truist Park, where the Atlanta Braves play. The game will now take place in Denver, Colorado, at Coors Field, the Rockies home field. |

While Illinois residents continue to wait for their state-issued Firearm Owner Identification card, all neighboring states now have no such requirements for gun owners. In Indiana, a permit is required to carry a gun, but no permit is required to purchase one and open carry is allowed. The same goes for Kentucky and Wisconsin. Missouri doesnt require a purchase or a carry permit. |

The origin of the .45 Colt goes back to the early 1870s. When the military called for tests to select a new sidearm, Colt produced the 1871-72 Open Top. This revolver looks much like the original 1860 and as the name suggests did not have a top strap. As cartridges go, both the Smith & Wesson .44 American and the .44 Colt as tested were not very powerful offerings, using bullets of approximately 210 grains at a muzzle velocity of 700-750 fps. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
For, in principle, there is no difference between a law prohibiting the wearing of concealed arms, and a law forbidding the wearing such as are exposed; and if the former be unconstitutional, the latter must be so likewise. But it should not be forgotten, that it is not only a part of the right that is secured by the constitution; it is the right entire and complete, as it existed at the adoption of the constitution; and if any portion of that right be impaired, immaterial how small the part may be, and immaterial the order of time at which it be done, it is equally forbidden by the constitution. [Bliss vs. Commonwealth, 12 Ky. (2 Litt.) 90, at 92, and 93, 13 Am. Dec. 251 (1822) |
