Weisers remains were discovered Tuesday morning, and police revealed a timeline of her disappearance on Thursday.
She was seen leaving the drama building on campus bound for her dorm between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. on Sunday night. She never made it to her dormitory that night, Gay said.
Weisers roommates called university police the next day to report her missing and her body was found in a creek on campus Tuesday.
An autopsy concluded the death was a homicide and that she had been assaulted.
Submitters Note: And UT at Austin is doing everything they possibly can to restrict concealed carry by licensed individuals when it becomes law in August.

Sgt. Dumer said detectives checked out the surveillance system and the case cracked wide open.
"He was just under the belief they weren't recording. He even told us that night, they are there, but they don't record," said Sgt. Dumer.
"We found a very different account of what happened that evening and from all that we could see and hear because audio was present as well," he said.
The sheriff's office said the video shows an unarmed Jason Head coming up to the home and Robert Cain ultimately shooting him. Investigators said the Cains were seen and heard talking about Head's lifeless body before "putting a gun in his hand and staging a crime scene."

Gen. Mark Milley, the Army chief of staff, came out strongly against the carrying of private guns on military bases as a security measure in the wake of shootings at Fort Hood, the Washington Navy Yard, and a recruiting station in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Milley, who assumed his current post in August 2015, was testifying alongside acting Secretary of the Army and former democratic congressman, Patrick Murphy before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Sen. Mike Lee (R., Utah) asked Milley about what the Army has done to better protect personnel and if the Army would consider letting soldiers carry their own weapons on bases. |

This is how it goes in politics, especially now that this presidential season finds its way to New York: Every week a new candidate comes in and talks to the Daily News Editorial Board and says something chuckleheaded and cowardly about guns.
Last week it was Sen. Bernie Sanders, when asked if victims of a crime, the way family members of the dead of Sandy Hook Elementary School are victims, should be able to sue a gun manufacturer.
No, Sanders said, I dont. |

As a result of House concurrence with the Senates amendments to House Bill 786 by a vote of 85-35 this week, Mississippi is in line to become the third state to approve permitless carry of firearms legislation during the 2016 legislative session.
The Mississippi Church Protection Act permits armed security in churches, concealed carry without a permit and addresses local enforcement of federal executive orders conflicting with the state or U.S. Constitution.
The measure was sent to Gov. Phil Bryant (R) on April 5 for his action. He must sign or veto the bill within 5 days after transmittal (excluding Sunday), or it automatically becomes law. |

The View panelist Raven-Symone made her thoughts known during Thursdays episode of the ABC talk show, as she and her colleagues discussed presidential candidate Bernie Sanders assertion that relatives of the victims in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012 shouldnt be allowed to sue the gun manufacturers.
Raven-Symone agreed with Sanders and asserted that the victims families should take their complaints to the government instead.
I dont think its fair for the families to sue the gun manufacturers, Raven-Symone said. I think they should talk to the government, because theyre the ones who put it in law that these kinds of guns can be sold.

During the April 7 airing of ABCs The View, host Jedediah Bila countered anti-gun arguments by asking why law-abiding citizens should be denied an AR-15 if the criminal who attacks them is armed with one?
Bilas comments followed Whoopi Goldbergs assertion that Sandy Hook families are suing Bushmaster for advertising AR-15s as a normal gun for regular people. She said people involved in the case are looking at the gun from another perspective, saying It should only be used by the military. |

The satirical petition that went viral last month demanding that the Republican party live up to its pro-gun rhetoric and allow openly carried firearms at its nominating convention has drawn a counterpunch. And unlike the call for more firearms at Clevelands Quicken Loans Arena, whose origins could only be traced to an anonymous liberal, this latest provocation is the handiwork of a prominent gun-rights group.
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, an organization chaired by Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb, is circulating a call to ban armed security including law enforcement officers and Secret Service agents from the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. |

The Implicit Association Test has drawn a lot of attention over the years since the media got ahold of studies that suggested whites implicitly link good words with whites and bad words with blacks. I put quotation marks around those two since the studies typically insist on defining good and bad without allowing participants to indicate how they regard a given word. For example, awful, is declared to be bad, even though as a student of the English language, I cant forget that this word originally meant worthy of fear or respect. But no nuance is permitted with words on these tests. |

My comments simply pointed out that, given all the gun stores that closed in anti-gun San Francisco and considering the anti-gun attitude among Los Angeles elected officials, it might be time to consider purchasing a gun for your protection and the protection of your family. Time may be running out before more restrictions are imposed on the few remaining gun stores in Los Angeles. I wrote this article after my neighbor, a liberal Democrat and staunch Obama supporter, contacted me about purchasing a gun. He feared for his family after the power in our neighborhood was knocked off for many hours and was scheduled to be off for many more evening hours. |

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton on Thursday came out strongly against soon-to-be-released double-barreled, .38-caliber handgun designed to look like a smartphone.
"I don't know how we can legislate thoroughly against human idiocy. It just boggles the mind that somebody would invent something like this and then there's a market for it," the Democratic-Farmer-Labor governor said Thursday.
Dayton said he would write to New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer, who plans to ask the federal government to investigate and potentially stop sales of the iPhone-resembling guns, about the subject. |

The genius of John Browning can be seen not only by the fact his basic 1911 design is still going strong after more than a century, but also because so many things have been done to it and continue to be. It has been chopped, channeled, expanded, downsized, chambered in everything from .22 to .50 and shows no signs of slowing down. Today some of the finest and most innovative 1911s are coming out of Springfield Armory.
A few years back Springfield Armory took their basic 1911, added match-grade barrels, excellent adjustable sights, left off all useless frills, and the result was a 1911 which could be used as a competition pistol right out-of-the-box. They called it the Range Officer. |

A group of former Wal-Mart workers in Utah who said the company violated their right to self-defense by firing them for disarming suspected shoplifters has settled their lawsuit against the mega-chain.
The workers argued that Wal-Mart's policy barring workers from fighting back when customers get belligerent forces employees to choose between their safety and their jobs. Wal-Mart has argued they have the right set their own store rules, and they tell employees to stand down so confrontations don't get out of control.
The Monday settlement comes after the Utah Supreme Court ruled workers can't be fired for defending themselves if they could be hurt or killed. |

Vice Speaker Joseph Deleon Guerrero put in language stating that a firearm can only be used for self-defense:
An individual is allowed to use a firearm or deadly force in self-defense if: the individual is protecting him- or herself and the use of the firearm or deadly force would prevent the immediate use of force by an aggressor. Provided further that this use is based upon the reasonable belief that the aggressor is about to inflict an intentional contact that would or could be reasonably thought to result in serious bodily harm or death and the use of force by the aggressor can safely be prevented only by the immediate use of a deadly force.
Ed.: Still a duty to retreat, and no defense of others. |

Understanding when you can legally shoot your gun in self-defense and knowing the law as it concerns deadly force were the focus of a three-hour seminar that drew more than 100 people to the Veterans of Foreign Wars post on Route 522 on Tuesday night.
Leading off the program was attorney Michael Antonio Giaramita Jr., of Harrisburg, who lectures around the state on the legal protection afforded gun owners in Pennsylvania. |

One of the biggest complaints of modern polymer pistols is that they do not fit/feel like steel or aluminum framed pistols. In the early days when Glock was really the only polymer pistol on the market that was true. Today pistols from H&K, Springfield Armory, CZ, Ruger, Sig Sauer, Smith&Wesson and even Glock have begun offering pistols with interchangeable back straps, more aggressive stippling or complete frames to achieve a personalized fit. We are going to look at three of the latest models to see what the designers have done to make their pistols fit a broad spectrum of shooters. |

I went one step further. Ive sent a note to Harris Teeter letting it know Im shopping there because their policy so far reflects a genuine concern for its patrons and safetyand thats the most basic principal of customer service, something its nearby competitor recklessly abandoned.
The response from Harris Teeters customer service was better than I expected. Good Morning Guy, thank you for your e-mail and support. Harris Teeter has and will continue to adhere to the firearms and concealed handgun laws as outlined by states in which we do business. We believe this issue is best handled by our lawmakers, not retailers.
If that doesnt make you nod with an approving smile, check your pulse. |

You would think our first responders would be allowed to legally carry their concealed carry weapons for self defense not only off the job, but especially on duty.
Now, a grassroots petition aims to persuade Tennessee lawmakers to take action and not only pass legislation to support first responders right to carry, but to recommend it.
The petition, started on Change.org by Brandon Gross of Westmoreland, TN, says Due to changing times it is no longer safe for our first responders. We deserve the right to be able to protect ourselves and go home to our family. I feel that not only should it be legalized but should be recommended. I also feel there should be state approved training available as with law enforcement. |

The problem with broken clock politicians like Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe is that though they might get things right on rare occasions, there are still those other 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 58 seconds of the day that theyre wrong.
McAuliffes latest screw up (and assuredly not his last one) is the veto of Virginia House Bill 766, which would have granted immediate concealed carry permits to victims of domestic violence with the issue of a protective order. |
