"This city's police department has joined the ranks of those in the state that offer public handgun-carry permit classes."
"After two trial sessions, Mt. Juliet had its first handgun safety class leading to state certification for the citizens on Saturday, with the second class this coming Saturday."
'The main reason a lot of people don't offer handgun safety courses is because of the liability,' said Kenneth Martin, just promoted from lieutenant to police chief as of July 1. |

"It's too much to expect even the most macho airline pilot to turn the cockpit over to a co-pilot, get a gun out of a lockbox, open a bulletproof door, shut and lock it behind him, go back to the coach section, shoot a terrorist dead (making sure not to kill a passenger or break a window), return to the cockpit and land the plane."

"Democratic governors from the South aligned themselves Monday with Georgia Sen. Zell Miller's call for Democrats to be more sympathetic and supportive of people who own guns."
"It's a rite of passage," Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes said. "We like to hunt."
"There was a perception in the last election with Vice President Gore that he was out of step with what most of us thought of that issue," Barnes said.
KABA NOTE: It's wonderful to see the Southern governors coalescing for firearms liberties. Hopefully, they'll surround a better issue than the mere "right to hunt." The right to keep and bear arms was not about hunting; it is about LIBERTY. Senator Miller knows that; hopefully he'll convert a few of these sportsmen into thinking harder on patriotism.
We certainly owe a debt of gratitude to the NRA for bringing this issue to a head, too! |

It was developed at the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt, Germany, which was founded in 1923 and came to be known as the "Frankfurt School." It was a group of thinkers who pulled together to find a solution to the biggest problem facing the implementers of communism in Russia."

"Politics does have its delicious moments and one of them is looming: State Sen. Marilyn Musgrave, R-Fort Morgan, is finally going to have to come out of the closet and declare where she stands in regard to a responsible bill authorizing citizens to carry concealed weapons."
"The fact that Musgrave's vote is in doubt will surprise many voters familiar with her noisy "Get out of Dodge" pro-gun rhetoric."
KABA NOTE: Musgrave has introduced concealed carry bills, has supported the least intrusive CCW bills and is touted by GOA and RMGO as an ally. Given the fact that this 28-page bill is promoted by NRA but the 8-page HB1242 wasn't, one must wonder if this article is written by an NRA person attempting to undermine a committed pro-RKBA ally in order to get the bill passed -- regardless of how intrusive the bill might be, and regardless of whether or not everything stated is factual or fair.
Musgrave later voted FOR the bill even though NRA ignored the better bill she wanted. This information is included here not as an attack on NRA, but rather as a defense of a very RKBA-supportive legislator who has been under attack based on half-truths. |

Police break into man's home and shoot him 7 times to prevent his suicide. ~~~~~ "The family of a man shot and killed last week by a local police officer wants an independent inquiry into the events that led to his death. William Weibel said his son was shot and killed after the family called Henniker police for help."
As the family of William Joseph Weibel, shot seven times in his home last Monday, by a Henniker police officer, we welcome calls for an independent, public inquiry into the events that led to his death and a process of public accountability that is open and transparent, wrote Weibel.
New Hampshire law enforcement officials have provided us with no information. However, we read in the newspaper that they claim Joe left a note. All we know is that we called the Henniker Police Department for assistance for Joe that night and that the police entered his home uninvited and shot him to death, he wrote. |
