A shop owner in Baltimore asks you for advice about saving his store. Hed like to survive the night, and tomorrow night, and this weekend. Assume he does not have insurance and can not walk away from his convenience store. It is a stand alone building several blocks from the first riots. What should he do given 72 hours to prepare?

Ann Arbor Public Schools officials say they are prepared to meet the challenge of a lawsuit Michigan Gun Owners filed against the district, which claims a new weapons policy violates state laws.

On Monday, April 27, Michigan Gun Owners and Ann Arbor parent Ulysses Wong filed the suit against the district in Washtenaw County Circuit Court.

In April, the Ann Arbor school board passed three policies that effectively ban guns from school buildings and school property.

However, Michigan law allows concealed pistol license holders to openly carry guns in schools...

"Ann Arbor Public Schools does not have power to do what they have done," Wong said. "They were pretty much inviting a lawsuit."

National Rifle Association (NRA) Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre relied on numerous falsehoods to claim that President Obama will move to ban sales of all firearm ammunition before he leaves office, thus making "the very real nightmare of every single gun owner in this country" a reality.

In the May issue of the NRA's magazine, America's 1st Freedom, LaPierre wrote, "President Barack Obama is setting the table to ban your ammunition -- all of it," and claimed that "the remaining two years of Obama's term pose the greatest threat ever to the Second Amendment and our freedom."

Among the bills on the calendar was an omnibus gun bill known as the Second Amendment Affirmation Act which would loosen gun laws dramatically. The House didnt vote on the bill yesterday but a committee voted to put a $20, 000 appropriation fee on the measure, keeping it eligible as a fiscal bill past the crossover deadline.

Lock up your guns.

It remains to be seen if the parents will face charges for failing to store the handgun properly. As their unwillingness to store their weapon securely after knowing they had a young man with issues in their home, I personally think that the prosecutors should throw the book at them.

It comes as the gun prohibition lobby has launched an attack on 17th District freshman Rep. Lynda Wilson. They complain that the pro-Second Amendment Wilson spent the session co-sponsoring bills designed to repeal Initiative 594. Based on comments left on the Facebook page where this little drama is playing out, under the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibilitys (WAGR) Hold Them Accountable campaign of intimidation, Wilson has a lot of fans out there urging her to keep up the good work.

Thousands of gun owners in Mississippi are off the mark, experts say.

People feel their guns will be taken away and they run out and buy as many guns and as much ammunition as they can, said NRA certified firearm instructor Cliff Cargill.

Cargill said there are a lot of inexperienced shooters on the streets because most new gun owners are barely trained.

We have sacrificed personal safety for a fraudulent claim of freedom which benefits gun manufacturers and merchants. On May 6th, SB116 allowing concealed carry of guns without a permit will be voted on by the full New Hampshire House. Please ask your representative to vote no on this bill. Lets reverse this disturbing trend and begin working for a safer America where guns are about recreation, not violence against people.

Females of all ages across southwest Louisiana are learning how to protect themselves with a variety of tools ranging from martial arts to other non-lethal means to the most common form of protection: Firearms.

Girlie Girls is one of the states mentoring programs, and recently offered a martial arts class for nearly 50 young girls. Program founder Anita Barker told KPLC in a recent interview that many of the girls in the program often stay home alone, and part of the focus is teaching the teens to be aware of their surroundings and what can be done if they ever do find themselves in a potentially dangerous situation.

In other wordsprofessors may fear that law-abiding citizens with concealed carry permits will go off the deep end and start shooting if they get a bad grade.

State Rep. Jamie Boles says legislation approved by the House that exempts large urban counties from permitting hunting with firearms on Sunday is unfair to rural counties.

"It is another example of rural versus urban and that North Carolina is not equal," said Boles, a Southern Pines Republican whose district includes most of the county. "This would have been a great opportunity for rural counties to stand up to urban counties.

The bill, which now goes to the Senate, would take effect Oct. 15 and would apply just to private lands. Boles said Wake and Mecklenburg are the only counties that would be exempt. The bill excludes counties with population of 700,000 or more.

Remember when wheelguns reigned supreme and semi-automatic pistols were largely just for SWAT teams and bullseye shooters? In the 1960s and 70s, a police officer attracted attention if he was seen carrying a cocked-and-locked M1911 or, later, one of those new Smith nines. That was when .38 Spl. brass was gold, and police officers such as Jeff Hoffman of Black Hills Ammunition got their start reloading .38 ammunition in their garages and basements. Colt, Smith & Wesson and, later, Ruger dominated the market. From 2" Chiefs to .357 Mags., the revolver rested in perhaps 90 percent of police holsters, in nightstands and in the hands of shooters on the line at center-fire matches.

In 1990, Sanders then the mayor of Burlington challenged Vermont Republican Rep. Peter Smith. It was a rematch of the 1988 congressional race, which Smith won. Despite previously promising to oppose gun control, Smith came out for a so-called assault weapons ban.

The Texas Senate voted Thursday to create a tax free weekend for guns and hunting supplies. On the weekend before hunting season begins in September, Texans would be able to buy scopes, ammunition and firearms without having to pay sales tax on the item.

The bills author says Louisiana has a sales tax holiday on hunting items and Texans cross the eastern border for cheaper goods. He wants that business to stay in Texas and to promote hunting in the state of Texas.

In Virginia, as in most states, you can get a gun without ever having fired one.

A push for new gun laws was one of the hot topics of the General Assemblys 2015 session. Both the gun lobby and gun control advocates sought legislation regarding firearms.

Second Amendment groups wanted to loosen the laws to allow, for example, concealed handgun permit holders to carry loaded shotguns or rifles in their vehicles. Gov. Terry McAuliffe vetoed that bill.

House Bill 562, the Second Amendment Affirmation Act, says healthcare providers, "do not need to know whether a patient lawfully possesses or uses firearms and ammunition unless the patient (i) specifically exhibits symptoms of illness or injury that the health care provider could reasonably attribute to the possession or use of firearms and ammunition or (ii) has expressed a desire to harm self or others."

The bill also says patients cannot be compelled to take part in the gathering of statistical information about the use, storage and possession of firearms.

Gun rights advocates support the language, saying it's a privacy protection.

Gov. Rick Snyder is renewing his support for banning openly carrying firearms in Michigan schools.

Right now, people with concealed pistol licenses can legally openly carry in schools. But they cannot carry weapons that are concealed.

Snyder says banning open carry in schools is something he and lawmakers are discussing.

I would imagine therell probably be ongoing discussion, he said. Because, again, open carry in Michigan schools is not a good thing. And most states dont allow it.

When a cop shot teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, last summer, the death sparked protests, a militarized law enforcement response, and finally looting and destruction. But the Huey P. Newton Gun Club was ready. The Dallas-based group had formed in June 2014, more than two months before the shooting.

Charles Goodson, the club's founder, started recruiting members after he learned that Dallas police officers had shot at 40 unarmed citizens over the past 12 years. "We are proposing armed self-defense as it relates to the situation with black people here in America when it comes to dealing with police departments," he explains.
