In 2020, guns caused more deaths than car accidents among U.S. children and teens for the first time in the last 40 years, according to a paper published in The New England Journal of Medicine. Researchers used data recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to quantify the leading causes of death nationwide for individuals ages 1 to 19 and found that firearm-related deaths among children and adolescents increased by 29 percent from 2019 to 2020.

A Turkish import via Florida-based EAA Corp, the affordable and well-made MC P35 is set to go the distance for those looking for an affordable Hi-Power clone. EAA announced the MC P35 late last year and it is finally filtering out to distributors' warehouses and gun store shelves. A resurrection of the classic late 1980s Browing/FN Hi-Power Mk III design, it is a short-recoil-operated single-action pistol with a frame and slide crafted from 4140 steel.

Is the Gun Sales Boom RIP? U.S. firearms sales fell in April, but they are still well above pre-pandemic levels. According to industry data, monthly sales of guns have surpassed 1 million units for 33 months in a row. Monthly sales of at least 1.25 million firearms could be the new normal.

Uberti's Hombre .45 Colt

The Uberti Hombre is the cowboy pistol for the Working Man. This no-frills rendition of Colonel Colts timeless Peacemaker is produced as cheaply as modern industry might facilitate. The pressure-bearing bits are formed from quality ordnance steel, but the backstrap and trigger guard are brass. The stained furniture is varnished, and the steel is finished in a pleasing, though historically incongruous, dull charcoal gray. For all its unremarkable plebeian attributes, however, the Hombre is a rugged, accurate and reliable all-around utility gun.

The One Rifle I Wish I Hadnt Sold

Have you ever sold a rifle only to regret it later? I dont mean a little regret as in, I probably shouldnt have sold that gun. I mean the type of sellers remorse that stings every time you think about it. If you were to find that gun again, youd pay almost any price to have it back. I vaguely remember my dad selling his Ruger .22-250 when I was a little kid, which was a rifle that shot coyotes so well that I still hear stories about it. My uncle still brags about shooting a coyote across one and half sprinkler quarters (three quarters of a mile) with that rifle. Im sure my dad regrets selling that gun, but I wont ask him about it.

In this day of injection molded pistols and 3D printed gun parts, many forget there are still rarefied near-magicians here in the states who produce what I like to call Bespoke guns. In the spirit of the best British gunmakers and the iconic Rolls Royce automobile from, say, the 1930s this cadre of talented people create an exactness in design and engineering hard to find today.

Why Every Outdoorsman Needs a .22 Pistol

When most of us think of outdoorsy guns not singularly focused on hunting, we think of trail guns, truck guns, or survival guns. Guns like a big-bore pistol to fight off a grizzly, or a truck gun in case youre accosted by a biker gang, or a survival rifle thatll help you make it through the imminent apocalypse. But the truth is, few of us hike in griz country, attacks from biker gangs are exceedingly rare, and even given the wretched state of both our national and international politics, the apocalypse may yet be a long way off. Im not saying you dont a need a gun, of course. (You should know me better than that by now.) Im just saying that the gun you probably need more than any of the ones mentioned above is a .22 pistol.

To echo Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities, this is the story of two Henrys, and like the 1859 historical novel, it focuses on resurrection. In this case, however, it is the not only about the legendary 19th century rifle with the famous name, it is also about an entirely new and modern family of innovative rifles and shotguns. These latter guns have created their own legacy through the Henry Repeating Arms (henryusa.com) brand, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As an individual, I believe, very strongly, that handguns should be banned and that there should be stringent, effective control of other firearms. However, as a judge, I know full well that the question of whether handguns can be sold is a political one, not an issue of products liability law, and that this is a matter for the legislatures, not the courts. The unconventional theories advanced in this case (and others) are totally without merit, a misuse of products liability laws. Judge Buchmeyer, Patterson v. Gesellschaft, 1206 F.Supp. 1206, 1216 (N.D. Tex. 1985)
