The .30-30 (pronounced thirty-thirty) cartridge was Americas first small bore sporting round that used smokeless powder. The round served as a transition between the traditional black powder of the 18th and 19th centuries and the smokeless powder that became popular during the turn of the 20th century and remains so today.

The .30-30 is a rimmed, bottlenecked cartridge that houses a lead, semi-jacketed bullet with a diameter of .308 inch. The .30-30 casing neck measures .330 inch, while the base has a diameter of .422 inch. The case is 2.039 inches long.

I have received no direct response from Senator Tester about any one of the series of letters I sent to him explaining the Montana take on gun control likely to come before the U.S. Senate. I did receive a form email that a lot of you may have also received, wherein Tester was carefully unclear about his position concerning Universal Background Checks (UBC).

Trust but verify. Those words were spoken by NRA Honorary Life Member and 40th President of United States Ronald Reagan. He was talking about the Cold War, but Im choosing here to apply it to new firearms. Modern firearms manufacturers are very good, indeed, at producing firearms that work well pretty much out of the box. But should you trust the gun completely straight from the box?

Elected politicians in North Carolina who hold concealed weapons permits including General Assembly members would be allowed to bring their guns into places that are currently prohibited, under legislation a House judiciary committee approved Monday. Local prosecutors, judges and court workers already receive special exemptions to state rules that prohibit concealed permit holders from bringing guns to schools, parades and funerals; to any state and federal government buildings, or to any establishments where alcohol is served. Local sheriffs issue permits that last five years. Recipients have to receive special training.

According to reports by the Canadian Shooting Sports Association (CSSA) and news media, there is good reason to believe that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has retained the long gun registry records.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
You must understand, therefore, that there are two ways of fighting: by law or by force. The first way is natural to men, and the second to beasts. But as the first way often proves inadequate one must have recourse to the second. Niccolo Machiavelli in "The Prince."
