The march planned for May 29 is being called the "2nd Amendment Armed March." Organizers said it is not about violence but self-defense.
The Elmer Geronimo Pratt Gun Club out of Austin, TX, and the national Black Panther Party are organizing the march.
Organizers said up to 1,000 legally armed citizens will descend on Greenwood to pay homage to the armed Tulsans who died defending the neighborhood during the Tulsa race massacre. |

People could have concealed weapons on Montanas public college campuses if they have firearms training and keep the guns holstered or locked in their rooms, with an exception for self-defense, under a policy proposed by the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education.
Under the proposal, students, faculty and others would be allowed to carry on campus if they can certify they have a concealed firearm permit in Montana, a similar permit from another state or firearms safety training. The university system is also proposing a course for those wanting to possess weapons while living in campus housing. |

The good news is that a jury returned a not guilty verdict with less than three hours of deliberation.
This case illustrates that even if you do everything right and within the law, your life can still be horribly affected if you are forced to defend yourself with deadly force. The total cost, financially, morally, and relationally, of his actions is probably impossible to calculate which is why it is so important to avoid the fight if at all possible. And why it is so important to have some way to pay for competent, experienced legal help if you cant. |

I believe the Constitution of the United States of America is the backbone of our country, the sheriff said in the statement. The constitutional amendments are absolute; they are the building blocks and the very fabric that makes us different from other Countries.
Mikesell then hinted to the belief that the states new gun laws were not constitutional. The Second Amendment states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, the statement said. Some believe the right to keep and bear arms is not absolute. I am here to tell you, it is. Your right to bear arms is absolute and will not be infringed by my office, regardless of any orders or legislative decrees. |

The fact that the NRAs petition to reorganize was rejected should frighten every loyal Ammoland reader. Those who celebrate need to answer one question: If this can happen to the NRA, what do you think happens to other pro-Second Amendment groups?
The Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms are headquartered in Washington state and presumably were incorporated there. Does anyone recall the track record of Governor Jay Inslee and Attorney General Bob Ferguson of that state on Second Amendment issues? Heres a hint: Its lousy.
Gun Owners of America, like the NRA, is headquartered in Virginia. Anyone remember the records of Ralph Northam and Mark Herring on Second Amendment issues? |

At the State House, Republican lawmakers are hoping South Carolina will join the list of states signing up to be part of the convention of states.
The U.S. Constitution allows constitutional amendments to be proposed by Congress, which is what typically happens, or by a convention of states. For the convention of states to propose changes to the Constitution, 34 states must pass a law saying they will be part of the group. |

At least seven candidates on major party and independent lines are emphasizing everything from police brutality to refusing enforcement of "unconstitutional" mandates topics raised this year more than any previous law enforcement election.
Now, as several candidates spar over enforcing the strict gun control law known as the SAFE Act, a major pro-Second Amendment group is assailing endorsed Republican Karen L. Healy-Case. Its president says she called for tougher gun laws as a Buffalo Police Department lieutenant, while promising "non-enforcement" of certain SAFE Act mandates as a candidate. |

Representative Scott DesJarlais (R-TN) has introduced a resolution (embedded below) in the House of Representatives that is a shot across the bow of Bidens anti-gun moves.
The resolution to oppose Bidens gun policies calls the Presidents gun policies unconstitutional and makes the case that they should never be approved. It mentions that the right to bear arms is enshrined in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. It highlights the Founding Fathers views on firearms as being fundamental to a free State. |

The race for Sen. Pat Toomeys seat in Pennsylvania just got a bit more crowded. Sean Parnell, a Republican army veteran who unsuccessfully challenged Democractic Rep. Conor Lamb last year, formally announced his bid for Toomeys seat yesterday.
Our Second Amendment is under assault, our First Amendment is too. The Democrats are not shy about their agenda, Parnell said at his announcement event in McCandless, just north of Pittsburgh. It is our duty and our responsibility in 2022 to stop them. |

Known by his tens of thousands of YouTube fans as "SoloYaker" and "The Armed Fisherman," 41-year-old Michael Taylor was arrested in late March for allegedly illegally recording a phone call with a Brevard Parks and Recreation employee. Last week he was notified that the State Attorney filed no information in the case.
"It's always important to record your public officials so you have a record of what they are saying to citizens," Taylor told FLORIDA TODAY Monday. "Whether it's a conversation or a police interaction, the camera doesn't lie." |

A man who fatally shot two men in a parking lot outside a northeast Reno bar last month appears to have been acting in self-defense, Reno police said Tuesday. The shooter, who has not been identified, was at the scene when police arrived at Mixers Bar at about 11:30 p.m. on April 28. The bar owner said that officers told him that a fight started after a "fender bender" in the lot and then escalated, according to the Reno Gazette Journal. |

After procedural responses, we will see if SCOTUS takes on the case or denies it without a word in another act of deliberate indifference the Roberts court has disappointed in the past. Questions about the Chief Justice have eroded confidence in the courts being a venue where recourse for gun owners is possible.
Add to that questions about the new judges added by Donald Trump, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. When are we going to see some of that pro-Second Amendment fidelity our national gun advocacy groups were promising us was just around the corner when they were exhorting us to loudly support their confirmations?
If SCOTUS either punts on or rules against George Young, gun owners will have their answers. |

Leonard Woolsey gave a spirited defense of our First Amendment titled (Sunshine Week all about protecting your rights, The Daily News, March 6-7). Woolsey wrote, Essentially, our core freedoms come from the Bill of Rights ... As citizens, we owe it to our future generations to watch and protect the liberties we rightfully own.
I hope this newspaper will remember their own publisher's words when the Second Amendment comes under attack.
The Constitution's Second Amendment provides us with the legal right to bear and keep arms, it's among our inalienable rights. |

To vote in Wisconsin, you have to register with the government, provide proof of where you live, and show election workers an official identification card.
To buy a gun in Wisconsin even a military-style weapon you can quickly and discreetly get one from an unlicensed dealer with little or no scrutiny. You dont even have to pass a background check when you purchase a gun from a private seller online or at a gun show. |

House Bill (HB) 1927, the constitutional carry bill to allow the carry of a handgun in public without a permit moved over one more hurdle as the Texas House rejected the Senate amendments and requested a conference committee. The Houses appointees to the proposed conference committee will be the bills author, Rep. Matt Schaefer (R-Tyler), as well as Reps. Terry Canales (D-Edinburg), James White (R-Hillister), Ryan Guillen (D-Rio Grande City), and Dustin Burrows (R-Lubbock) all of whom supported the original House version.
Earlier in the evening, Rep. Chris Turner (D-Grand Prairie) had raised a point of order soon after Schaefer began to lay out the Senate-amended bill. |
