New York City Mayor Eric Adams predicted doom and gloom for the Big Apple on Thursday and said residents of the city should be very afraid if the U.S. Supreme Court strikes down the states concealed carry law.
After what we saw the Supreme Court did on abortion, we should be very afraid, Adams told reporters at an even in Harlem, referencing the leaked draft opinion that indicated a majority of the justices are ready to overturn Roe v. Wade, the New York Daily News reported.
In densely populated communities like New York, this ruling could have a major impact on us, the mayor said. So we are now looking with our legal experts to see what we can do. But we should all be concerned. |

Now, come November, that Legislature is asking Iowas voters to make it nearly impossible to reinstate any popular common-sense gun laws or adopt any new ones. Unlike previous changes, this one requires an amendment to Iowas Constitution. Amendments lock in changes for years to come, requiring multiple legislative votes by different assemblies and, ultimately, a majority vote by the people of Iowa. |

Dougherty showed police to his truck, parked off-campus near the corner of North 14th Street and West State Street, where his handgun was locked away. There was no evidence of a threat or that Dougherty broke any laws, according to Williams.
The district originally suspended Dougherty for nine days and barred him from walking at graduation, according to his mother Jessica Dougherty. The district later reduced Daniel's punishment and will allow him to walk in the graduation ceremony. |

A Nassau County, N.Y., rule that requires citizens who lose their license to own handguns to surrender all their guns, including their rifles, may violate the Second Amendment as applied to a challenger of the law, the Second Circuit said Thursday.
Victor Juzumas, who was a customs broker, lost his pistol license after pleading guilty to a charge connected to a drug trafficking scheme. Under New York law, his pistol license was revoked and he was required to surrender all of his guns to the county. |

America has long been flooded with handguns and assault rifles. Today, it is utterly awash, unable to keep its head above water. Such easy access to deadly weapons, combined with a pandemic thats unleashed economic and societal ills and statutes that in some cases have made it easier for shooters to escape consequences, is sending ever more Americans to graveyards.
And if the Supreme Court this summer issues an expansive ruling invalidating strict state concealed-carry permitting laws, all this will be mere prelude to far greater carnage. Thursday, Mayor Adams said, Be very afraid of this possibility. We say amen. |

Signs line Willow Creek Road in Eagle, reading build the gun range away from our homes, our horses and our hills. They refer to a proposed 80-acre target shooting range in the eagle foothills, one that the city of Eagle is pushing heavily.
The city heard from the public over the past three months and said it will update its shooting sports park plan based on feedback, but many feel the city will not listen to them, including people who live right next to the proposed site, along with people who use the land every day.

Armenias ruling party is seeking to significantly loosen the rules for civilians to obtain guns, proposing new legislation that they say will help the country better defend itself in the wake of the 2020 military defeat to Azerbaijan. But opponents of the bill worry that it could lead to an increase in gun-related crime in the country.
The bill, introduced by members of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyans ruling Civil Contract party on April 18, would reduce the requirements for first-time buyers of rifles, eliminate limits on purchases of ammunition, and extend the term of validity for weapons licenses. It also adds some new regulations, forcing new licensees to pass an exam and raising the age for legal gun ownership from 18 to 21. |

Gun Owners of America (GOA) and Grass Roots North Carolina (GRNC) won a preliminary injunction against Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Sheriff, and reality TV star Garry McFadden.
Residents of the state need a handgun purchase permit or a concealed carry permit to buy a handgun in North Carolina. Local Sheriffs departments issue these permits within the state. During the COVID pandemic, the Mecklenburg Sheriffs Department fell behind on issuing permits. According to state law, the Sheriff has 45 days to issue the permit. It took up to ten months for the Sheriffs Department to issue either permit. |
