"The entire pro-gun community is aware of Mayor Bloomberg of New York Citys lawsuit against licensed FFLs - the lawsuit that was a result of his sending private investigators to their stores to break the law and then try and sue them for it." ...
"The ATF throwing Adventure Outdoors under the bus pertains to the original case, which is still being fought in court. Earlier in the year, Adventure Outdoors had subpoenaed three BATFE agents to be deposed in regards to the case pending against Adventure Outdoors. After the initial subpoenas were withdrawn, the BATFE 'agreed' to allow the agents to be deposed in written question - now BATFE is going back on that agreement and has filed motions to exempt the agents from their written depositions." ... -------

"The Second Amendment very clearly recognizes our God-given right to own firearms without infringement. Yet, many in the government, media, and education system have made careers out of trampling on this right. The government has ignored the Second Amendment, enacted anti-gun legislation, and even jailed innocent people for decades without repercussion. Even as the Supreme Court is debating the issue, the government is still wreaking havoc on American citizens."
"David Olofson, a Wisconsin gun owner, was convicted for transferring a machine gun. In actuality, Mr. Olofson owns a perfectly legal, AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. ..." ... -------

"Is America's largest retailer getting out of the hunting and fishing business?"
"If not, it certainly seems to be cutting back." ...
"... Nor is the company turning its back on hunters, they added."
"But recently, Wal-Mart joined New York mayor Michael Bloomberg at a gathering of his group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, to announce a series of changes to the way the company handles firearm transactions."
"In the future, firearm purchases at Wal-Mart will involve a video record of the sale, which the store will keep on file as a database of gun buyers. Employees also will be given the discretion to deny firearms sales to anyone who's had a firearm traced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for any reason." ... |

"In the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, France was blessed with a creative and prolific arms industry, as forward-thinking as any in the world. Two French innovations alone completely changed the nature of land warfare. First was the hydraulically-buffered quick-firing field piece... The second innovation was just as significant."
"Experimenting with new types of propellant yielded a high-energy powder that burned cleanly, without the barrel fouling and attendant white smoke clouds generated by the black powder that had been used in guns for the last half-millennium. The new powder allowed much higher velocities, especially from the smaller-diameter bullets made possible by the lack of fouling ..." ... |

"While America awaits the decision from the Supreme Court of the United States about whether Washington, D.C.'s handgun ban violates the Second Amendment, we'll take advantage of the legal cease-fire to have a closer look at this landmark case."
"By the time the Supreme Court heard District of Columbia v. Heller on March 18, the case had been in the works for six years. It was not initiated by the NRA (National Rifle Association) or the six plaintiffs but by a businessman, lawyer, and private citizen who said he has never owned a gun." ... |

"A Des Moines homeowner fired a gun during a burglary this morning but it was only a warning shot."
"Randy Owens, 42, said he fired a shot into an old furnace so the burglar would know he wasn't holding a BB gun. He said he did not shoot at the burglar." ...
"Owens heard a garage alarm about 5:30 a.m. and went to investigate. A side door had been kicked open; it had the outline of a large footprint on it. The lock was broken."
"When he entered his shop, Owens said he noticed someone under one of his tables."
"Police said ... 'He told the suspect to come out and a verbal argument ensued. As they argued Randy stated that he drew his 9 mm handgun. The suspect lunged forward, striking Randy in the forearm with a cane.'" ... |

FULL TEXT BELOW:
National Rifle Association chief Wayne LaPierre says Republican John McCain isn't in lockstep with the group on every issue, but the nation's gun owners aren't "foolish enough" to ignore their common ground.
LaPierre sized up the presidential candidates in an interview Tuesday, a few days before the NRA opens its convention in Louisville. McCain is scheduled to speak to the group Friday.
McCain has voted against a ban on assault-type weapons, but he favors requiring background checks at gun shows. McCain also voted to shield gun-makers and dealers from civil suits.
LaPierre was critical of Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, saying both are pandering to gun owners by "mouthing pro-Second Amendment words." |

Former US congressman Bob Barr on Monday announced plans to run for president on the Libertarian Party's ticket, in a move some analysts say could hurt Republican presumptive nominee John McCain. "My name is Bob Barr and I'm a candidate for the presidency of the United States of America," said the former Republican lawmaker, who played a key role in the congressional impeachment of former president Bill Clinton. Barr said he was running because there was not "currently or anywhere on the horizon" any candidate who understood the principles of fiscal conservatism and basic principles on which he said America was founded.

"Although mostly hidden by his campaign ... Sen. John McCain will participate in the 137th NRA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky--in the same event as right-wing pundit Ted Nugent." ...
"Why might McCain be reluctant to have himself officially listed on the NRA's event? The answer may well be his concern about being associated with Nugent who, less than one year ago, held up two machine guns at a concert and ... threatened the lives of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sen. Diane Feinstein, Sen. Hillary Clinton, and Sen. Barack Obama." ... -------
Submitter's Note: Mr. Feldman has kindly provided the link which shows nothing of the sort. Ted told each of those individuals to perform sexual activities not condoned in the Bible, but I heard no threats. |

"During his six years in the House representing the 3rd Congressional District, former Rep. Doug Ose's votes on such issues as abortion, guns, spending and immigration placed him squarely on the moderate end of the Republican caucus."
"Now ... Ose's record is rearing up as his biggest hurdle as he competes against state Sen. Tom McClintock, a champion of the far right, for the Republican nomination in a neighboring district ... that is arguably the most conservative in the state."
"Ose's record is Issue No. 1 for McClintock, who cites his voting record in denouncing him as a liberal." ...
"Ose's votes ... tend to back the Second Amendment but are more apt to tolerate local controls to combat rising big-city death tolls." ... |

"...Should its recommendations be followed, men belonging to other political organizations will feel their personal and political safety endangered, and would be driven for purposes of self-defense to resort to similar measures. Thus we should have two or more political parties in the State, armed and organized . . . Bob Hezzelwood said he has been visiting Bonita Beach for years and no one has bothered or complained about his bathing suit.
However, recently, a Lee County sheriff's deputy gave Hezzelwood a ticket for trespass and told him not to return to the beach.
A judge tossed out the case.
However, Hezzelwood said he plans to sue the sheriff's department, saying his civil rights were violated.
"It frightens me and embarrasses me to go public with it. But by the same token, I don't know what else to do," Hezzelwood told The Naples News. "I'm a civilian out here whos been picked on by a little bully deputy and thats wrong. Its just wrong."
