Many gun experts totally dismiss the viability of the .380 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) cartridge AKA 9x17mm, 9mm Short, 9mm Corto, 9mm Kurz, as a viable self-defense cartridge, while other experts, such as Massad F. Ayoob of the Lethal Force Institute and John S. Farnam of Defensive Training Solutions consider the caliber to be marginal, the absolute bare minimum acceptable defense caliber.

It was all done in less than 3-minutes early Wednesday morning on May 10. When FOX13 crews went inside the store several glass casings remained empty, a few shards of glass still on the floor as owners contemplated what to do next.

CBS: So how do you map Americas firearm ecosystem?

Porfiri: Basically, the way we see the firearm ecosystem is a combination of different layers, that includes individual behavior, state-level behavior and the national level. We have to understand how policies shape individual behavior and then overall how these interactions define where we stand as a country.

An elderly Arizona man was found with serious and bleeding face injuries after an altercation with his stepson that resulted in justifiable homicide. Last month, Arizona police responded to a 911 call from 74-year-old Stan French who explained that he had shot his stepson in self defense. French, who had an order of protection against his stepson, was greeted at his home by 40-year-old Derek Christopher Farar. Farar violated his order and assaulted French. From there, the twos physical altercation escalated until French feared for his life and shot Farar with his handgun.

We find ourselves living in a highly consequential time for the legal clarification of the 2nd Amendment. Extremely aggressive, wide-ranging bans of semi-automatic firearms have been enacted in various parts of the country, drawing legal challenges. While the ultimate resolution of these challenges is unknowable, many observers believe the Supreme Court will eventually arrive at a decision prohibiting the wholesale banning of semi-automatic firearms. Those who dream of eliminating all private gun ownership in the United States face the prospect of a devastating legal defeat.

Turkish firearms manufacturer Tisas has been cranking out budget-friendly 1911s for several years, but perhaps none comes as close to the classic U.S. military service pistol as the companys affordable Model 1911 A1 U.S. Army. Imported to the states under the SDS Imports banner, this GI-style 1911 hosts only the most basic of sights while still sporting Series 70 internals and nicely textured grip panels made from Turkish walnut. Its a close though not perfect clone of John Moses Brownings ingenious design.
