Michael R. Bromwich, a former Justice Department inspector general who has firsthand knowledge of the agency's various shortcomings, offered this broad judgment to The Washington Post: "I just see poor management and bad databases and, unfortunately, an element of incompetence," he said.

We in Minnesota will have to wait another year for another chance to get concealed carry passed.
"The people of Minnesota aren't going to let it drop," said Sen. Pat Pariseau (R-Farmington), sponsor of the bill, which was supported by the National Rifle Association and other gun-rights groups. The House had passed the bill and Gov. Jesse Ventura endorsed it. |

"This fall, tens of thousands of bright-eyed and malleable young men and women will descend on American campuses to begin their academic careers in earnest. Most of them will face what we used to call freshman orientation. More than anything, though, it's looking more and more like indoctrination."--Wendy McElroy, FOXNews |

The courts this week took another stab at gutting the traditional power of jurors to refuse to enforce bad or stupid laws, as the seven-member California Supreme Court unanimously backed a Santa Clara County judge's actions in dismissing a juror who expressed the opinion during deliberations that statutory rape shouldn't be a crime. - column by Vin Suprynowicz |

The right of Americans to arm themselves still works in the United States, a University of Tennessee law professor told gun advocates yesterday on the steps of the state Capitol.
"People believe in it," Glenn Reynolds said of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. "If you don't believe it works, just ask Al Gore." |

"Bush this week cited well-worn anti-gun statistics and condemned the 'unacceptable' number of fatal shooting deaths in the United States. But like the liberal anti-gun lobby, the GOP president was silent about the untold number of gun shootings committed every year in self-defense. Just two weeks ago, a 12-year-old girl in Clarksdale, Miss., saved her mother's life when she shot and killed an abusive ex-boyfriend who had forced his way into the apartment and started choking her mom..." |

"The so-called "Million Mom March" represents a clear and present danger to every woman in this nation, especially every teenage girl in this nation. Every woman participating in this march is particpating in an act that may very well lead to her own death, assault, or rape, as well as the death, assault or rape of any woman or young girl in her family. Every individual participating in this march or financing this march is effectively sponsoring a future criminal assault on me and people I love, and I hold them as responsible as the criminal himself."--Liz Michael |

"U2 have declared war on Hollywood legend CHARLTON HESTON over his views on gun control."
I still don't understand how signing a recording contract elevates one to higher moral plane, particularly a foreigner from one of the most hate-filled societies in the free-world. Like their caricatures of Kmart on the ZooTV tour, expect these aging rockers to annoy stadiums full of GenX'ers once again with their sanctimonious criticism of their meal ticket nation. |

"A day's introduction to the shooting sports hadn't quite convinced me that a Glock was just another kind of golf ball. 'I hope you all come away from this feeling like most of us in "the gun culture" are very safe and fairly normal,' said Chris Edwards, as we packed up our goggles and headed off. It was a modest ambition. I hoped he'd learned the same about us."--Matt Bai, Newsweek
Article by MSNBC reporter on industry attempts to 'educate' media rank and file on why we love firearms so much. In spite of weak attempts to be 'objective' it's clear that this reporter, like many others, has an agenda, and for all intents and purposes, misses the point entirely. Perhaps using the 'Write Us' link at the bottom of the article would be in order. |

We here in Minnesota get screwed for another year! The liberal whackos put in what are called "Kill Amendments" to the concealed carry bill. The only thing we have going for us is that we did drum up more support for this bill. Some on the fence moved to our side and others who didn't care are now caring. This is a good thing. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The right of the people to keep and bear arms has been recognized by the General Government; but the best security of that right after all is, the military spirit, that taste for martial exercises, which has always distinguished the free citizens of these States....Such men form the best barrier to the liberties of America Gazette of the United States, October 14, 1789. |
