BAD NEWS: "Sen. McCain, who is the group's poster boy, is threatening to offer his bill (S.890) as an amendment to any one of a number of bills. S.890 would ban private sales at gun shows unless the gun buyer submits to a registration background check." KABA NOTE: Which, of course, according to federal "law," they cannot do -- you must have an FFL to access NICS. Contact U.S. Officials

"THE RECENT Keystone Poll showing Ed Rendell up by 10 points in the governor's race included an odd finding: Gun people like Ed. He led rival Bob Casey among gun owners and voters strongly opposed to new gun laws."

"What that tells us is that voters aren't terribly familiar with the candidates' views," said pollster Terry Madonna.

"That's about to change. The anticipated assault on Rendell by Pennsylvania's gun lobby has begun with hard-hitting radio ads, with TV attacks soon to follow."

"American citizens have the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, a Southern Baptist public policy expert affirmed May 13. Richard Land said it was a 1939 Supreme Court decision centered on the government's right to ban sawed-off shotguns that institutionalized the faulty view that the Second Amendment pertained only to the states' right to organize a militia. The Clinton administration and others made the argument that the nation's founding fathers intended for the right to keep and bear arms to refer only to a state militia or National Guard before them, he explained."

--I guess a child being murdered by a knife-and-stun-gun-bearing criminal, does not rate high enough for extended news coverage. I further suppose that it would have been more news worthy if the child was murdered by a criminal using a gun.

Needless to say, the media bias is exposed again; it's not about crime, it's about political agendas. I have not yet heard any calls from the whackos for knife and stun-gun controls.

Hypocrites!

R.I.P little Andy!

The lead-in: "Here's a good lesson on the danger of guns."

The story: People are making false reports. ("Philadelphia police say they have charged or will charge seven people who shot themselves ... while handling guns and then made up elaborate cover stories.")

What does one have to do with the other?

KABA NOTE: Why, nothing Jeff, except that the reason for these "false reports" is another excuse to justify pushing gun control. -- Did they do a study of the false reports by people who had equally stupid car accidents? Are those people now going to be arrested?

"We commend Attorney General John Ashcroft and the Justice Department for officially altering the government's view of the Second Amendment, recognizing an individual's right to possess a firearm.
The largely symbolic legal brief, filed last week with the U.S. Supreme Court in connection with two cases it is considering for review, is attracting plenty of criticism from gun- control advocates and as such shows no shortage of courage." -- Opinion of The Oklahoman

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.... We've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of government himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price. Ronald Reagan
