'I showed her how to use the gun and I'll never forget that,' Imperati, 39, told The Post. 'I think she thought of me when she pulled the trigger, and that's what kills me.' "

"President Bush keeps talking about the spreading of Democracy in the Mideast and more specifically in Iraq. That will never work in any way. There are at least three major factions in that country and they couldn't even agree on table manners. There are many things they can agree on but more they can't. Democracy is always mob rule. It is always a precursor to unbridled tyranny. It is time to talk about forming a Constitutional Republic over there. I was surprised when I heard some of the guys we are putting in there talk about setting up a form of Federalism. Unlike a lot of people here, it appears he may have brushed the dust off of the Constitution and actually given it a good read."

Consider this

A few points about Minnesota's new conceal-carry law:

The law won't inspire an influx of new guns; those guns are already out there in the closet. Passing such a law in other states did not cause a grand rush to purchase new weapons.

Just because a person has a legitimate permit to carry a weapon doesn't mean he/she will carry one -- a gun is heavy, bulky, and gets in the way.

A permit to carry a concealed weapon will require that the gun be registered. Isn't this what the antigun groups have been advocating for so many years? Think of all the guns which will now be registered and therefore become impotent.

"The Cincinnati City Council voted 8-0 to drop its lawsuit against the gun industry, acting on the recommendation of a city attorney. Cincinnati was among dozens of cities and counties suing the gun industry in an effort to recover the costs associated with crimes involving guns. In a statement, the Second Amendment Foundation said it's long past time for the case to be dropped. 'Cincinnati threw in the towel after gun makers challenged the city to substantiate its wild allegations,' SAF founder Alan Gottlieb said. 'If nothing else,' he continued, 'ending the lawsuit so soon after gun makers demanded to see the evidence behind the city's claims is a strong indication that the lawsuit was nothing but a flimsy sham all along.' Gottlieb called Cincinnati's lawsuit 'a no-win campaign by anti-gunners in Cincinnati, designed only to drain the finances of gun companies.' "

"No, no, our new concealed carry law is all about being "consistent" with the way gun permits are issued in Minnesota. It's about creating a 'uniform policy,' in the words of Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who complained on his radio show recently that the old law was 'highly subjective,' forcing many decent citizens to leave their sheriff's office with an empty holster."

"This, despite the fact that a Bureau of Criminal Apprehension survey found that 93 percent of permit applicants got one in 2002."

Strange how this particular anti-gun bigot doesn't ask the obvious follow-up question: How many of those permit holders have committed a crime with their firearms? "It is interesting to note that Senator Feinstein and then-Representative Schumer were the original sponsors of the ban, and in 1995 the House of Representatives actually voted to repeal the ban! The semi-auto ban was a major part of a fanatical anti-gun agenda to ban legitimate firearms, which was repudiated in the elections of 1994 and 2000. It is now time for us to stand up against this unconstitutional gun-grabbing and help our nation in this time of great need by allowing law-abiding citizens to use the weapon of their choice."

"The semi-auto ban is useless in preventing violent crime. Contrary to the propaganda of gun control supporters, only a very small percentage of crimes were committed with so-called assault weapons. If you want to lower crime, then make sure the federal courts are not hamstringing state and local governments from putting (and keeping) the guilty offenders in prison. Furthermore, at a time of increased threats of terrorism, sniper attacks, and other forms of violent crime, the last thing the federal government should do is continue preventing citizens from protecting themselves with the weapons they find most effective for their cause. Whether it be for self-defense, target practice, hunting or other lawful purposes, the federal government is prohibited by the Second Amendment from telling people what types of arms they can, and cannot, 'keep and bear.' "
