Lieutenant Colonel Terry S. Russell is no stranger to firearms. During his 27 years as a soldier, Russell has been fully trained and qualified, at a minimum annually, to skillfully employ handguns and rifles. Now, he is stationed at New Jerseys Picatinny Arsenal, where he serves as the Product Manager for the Armys Individual Weapons and Small Arms program. ... There are few people in the United States of America who know more about guns.
And yet the state of New Jersey will not give Russell a concealed-carry permit.

Rising gun sales have triggered a new trend in furniture fashion -- coffee tables, cabinets, headboards and hutches with secret compartments for firearms.

'Gun concealment furniture' sales, once the province of solitary craftsmen making custom goods have gone mainstream, allowing firearms owners to maintain easy in-home access to hidden handguns and rifles.

Many have stated that Oklahoma's consideration of open carry is a bad idea. They state that religion and common sense don't support open carry of any kind. However, if you look to other states that have already adopted open carry, like Vermont, you see their crime rates have fallen. Many liberals claim the contrary and use a debunked study that shows gun-friendly states have higher violent crime. What they don't tell you is they have to artificially inflate the number of gun deaths by including self-defense, suicides and justified police shootings in order to come to this conclusion.

The avid proponent of American liberty and individualism, Sen. Rand Paul took the stage at the NRA-ILA forum and spoke of our natural right to own and bear arms.

"We must always remember that the Second Amendment can only properly be defended when we defend the rest of the bill of rights. You can't defend the second Amendment unless you defend the First amendment," Paul said.

He went on to warn the audience of the trampling of the Fourth Amendment and how important it is for governing bodies to acquire search warrants before investigating individual citizens.

A man doing construction outside a Lake City restaurant Sunday night told police he fired a shot at a teenager who tried to rob him.

The man said the person, believed to be in his late teens, approached him outside a restaurant on Duval Street and asked for money. When told no, the person went away, but returned a short time later, pulled out a semiautomatic handgun and said, "Put your hands up."

Instead the victim pulled his own weapon, which Lake City police say he carries with a valid permit, and fired two shots. The robber ran, apparently not hit.

...

Police said the victim's actions were determined to be proper and in self-defense, so no charges were filed.

"If she gets to appoint her judges, she will abolish the Second Amendment," Trump told an enthusiastic crowd in Louisville. "In my opinion, that's what she's going to go for."

"We're not going to let that happen," Trump said. "We're going to preserve it, we're going to cherish it."

Judge Mark Klingensmith knew the stakes when he wrote the Fourth District Court of Appeal decision issued Feb. 18, 2015, in Norman's case.

The Fourth District was entering a "vast terra incognita of Second Amendment jurisprudence to answer a question of first impression, specifically whether the Second Amendment forbids the state of Florida from prohibiting the open carry of firearms while permitting the concealed carry of weapons under a licensing scheme," he wrote.

The court found no constitutional impediment to affirming Norman's misdemeanor conviction. Allowing individuals to have concealed weapons permits preserves the state regulation, Klingensmith concluded.

In the first case, out of California, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the right to buy and sell firearms as part and parcel of the historically recognized right to keep and bear arms. In its 2-1 ruling, a court panel sided with a gun business that was denied a permit based on zoning, which the businessmen said prohibited them from opening a gun shop anywhere in Alameda County.

As Judge Diarmuid O'Scannlain wrote for the majority, one cannot keep arms when the State prevents him from purchasing them. And should the state impose laws on the presumption that gun stores increase crime or harm neighborhoods, it needs to substantiate its claims.

Taft resident Wesley Morris is a history teacher by day and a gun store owner by night. And he's suing the state of California.

Morris is one of several co-plaintiffs affiliated with the Calguns Foundation bringing a First Amendment challenge to a decades-old California law that regulates the advertisement of handguns.

Morris became involved in the case several years ago after the state's Bureau of Firearms ordered he and his business partners at 10 Percent Firearms to remove a sign hung outside their shop that resembled a revolver.

The replica revolver was made out of sheet metal by a customer.

[RS]: Do you support any laws that would restrict gun ownership?

[Gary Johnson]: I do not. And I get why people do. I got into hot water in the libertarian debates over the question, "Should you, as the Libertarian president, be open to a discussion on how you take weapons out of the hands of the mentally ill?" And my response was, absolutely you should be open to a discussion. I mean, my goodness. But I have not heard any suggestion [of legislation] that actually accomplishes that. The [legislative] suggestions that I end up hearing, I could see myself being denied ownership of a weapon because I am not going to qualify under the litmus test that is being established.

Friends, this past year has been crazy. Ive traveled all over America and gun owners know that theres far more at stake in this election than just left vs. right. Theres a growing belief that this is a do-or-die fight for the soul of our country. Because after eight years of dishonesty, corruption and failure, the America we know is becoming unrecognizable.

Now that Judge Richard J. Leon ruled the District of Columbias similar good cause restrictions as unconstitutional, it will be interesting to see how this ruling will impact similar gun legislation across the country. Ideally, this ruling should set the precedent for law-abiding citizens to obtain a concealed carry permit, regardless of their reason for carrying a firearm. The handful of may-issue states that require good cause may face a court ruling that will force them to change their polices on concealed carry permits. Ideally, they will become shall-issue states, which generally mandates the license be issued if the applicant meets the requirement for a CCW permit.

Donald Trump on Friday told the National Rifle Association that Hillary Clinton would take away the right to bear arms -- a position the Democratic front-runner has never taken and immediately denounced.

Moments after the gun group endorsed Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee dove right into attacking Clinton, saying she "wants to abolish the Second Amendment."
"We're not going to let that happen," Trump said. "We're going to preserve it, we're going to cherish it."

We also thought it was important to show how responsible gun owners handle their weapons.

Sunny McGann is a well-armed woman. In fact, shes the leader of the local chapter of that organization which touts the slogan where the feminine and firearms meet.

A line must have at least two points, and its the same with line-of-sight. So, if your shotgun only has one bead for a sight and no rear apparatus by which to align it, your eye becomes that second point by default and, therefore, must remain in the exact same place relative to the bead from shot to shot. If you dont consistently weld your cheek to the stock, accuracy will suffer. Recreational shotgunners rarely worry about this, because at distance a shotguns spread negates slight disparities in POA/POI. Additionally, guns were built with full-contour stocks that would naturally align the eye directly down the rib of the gun to facilitate consistent alignment.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke's message to those attending Friday's NRA-ILA Leadership Forum was in part cautionary: Be wary of "freedom-loathing gun-haters."

"Don't be misled by phony sloganeering like 'common sense gun legislation' or 'smart guns,'" he said. "There is nothing smart about what they are up to, as you and I both know. None of this crap will reduce violence, suicides or mass shootings."

A federal judge in Washington, D.C. ruled Tuesday that part of D.C.s new gun law, which requires that individuals must show good reason to get a concealed-carry permit for firearms, is unconstitutional.

In his ruling, District Judge Richard J. Leon called the requirement inconsistent with the Second Amendment and put in place a preliminary injunction to stop its enforcement in the District.
