"It appears that Michael Daly, a writer at the New York Daily News, has a problem with guns."
"He writes articles decrying the '500,000 illegal handguns' that apparently flood this city. ... In his thinking, it's clearly the gun's fault these heinous crimes were committed, not the gun user's." ...
"So I will offer here a modest solution to the problem of a half-million illegal handguns in New York. ... We'll offer a 'path to legalization' for these weapons. (Please don't call it 'amnesty.') Those who own these guns will be asked to simply register them. After standing in line, filling out forms, paying some fines, ... these gun-owners will be henceforth 'legalized,' with full conceal-carry permits ..." ... |

"The first gun I shot was a Stevens Crack Shot 22 rimfire rifle that belonged to my Grandfather Platt. This was during WW II about the time I started grade school. We would go to Uncle Harve Brooks' house at Avilla and shoot 22 shorts at tin cans. Ammunition wasn't available during WW II but my father had two cartons of Federal 22 shorts saved from before the war. After Uncle Harve returned from the Army we would hunt sitting rabbits in the corn fields and blackberry patches. There were no high-powered rifles in the family but everyone had a 22 and a shotgun. Two of my uncles had Stevens Crack Shot rifles like the one I shot, but everywhere I went, there would be a 22 hanging on the wall or standing in the corner and they were all different. ..." ... |
