The state of New Jersey is seeking a refund after its state police received a shipment of allegedly defective P2229 Legacy handguns from Sig Sauer in the summer of 2014. The Garden State has filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against the gun manufacturer, claiming the weapons failed to eject spent shell casings from the barrels of the guns after being fired. |

According to official U.S. government documents compiled under the Obama administration, if youre not in line with their government agenda you may be on the potential terrorist list.
According to thetruthwins:
At one time, the term terrorist was used very narrowly. The government only applied that label to people like Osama bin Laden and other Islamic jihadists. Then the Obama administration removed all references to Islam from terror training materials and began applying the term potential terrorist to large groups of American citizens. |

A man with a concealed handgun thwarted an attempted armed robbery on the evening of Saturday, May 20 in Ypsilanti, police say. A 62-year-old man reported that another person - identified by police as a 54-year-old man - approached him and attempted to rob him, police said. Police believe the 54-year-old demanded that the 62-year-old empty his pockets or he would be shot, said Ypsilanti police Lt. Deric Gress. The 54-year-old had his hand partially in a pocket at the time, Gress said, and it's believed he was implying he had a gun.

Sherry Dmitruchina surprised herself Sunday years after she last picked up a gun, she hit the bull's-eye all 20 times from five yards away during target practice at a Taylor firearms range.
"I sure did. Twenty shots, all in the same hole," she said, holding up her hot-pink target at Top Gun Shooting Sports to applause. "I'm going to show my husband."
Dmitruchina of Trenton was one of hundreds of women who turned out for a day of lessons on gun safety and personal protection put on by Legally Armed in Detroit, a gun rights advocacy group.
Rick Ector, a firearms trainer and founder of Legally Armed, said 700 women registered for the sixth annual event, and he was hoping to get at least 600 through the doors... |

In recent months, federal and state officials have cited at least eight Chinese students at the UA for fraudulently obtaining resident hunting licenses, and also seized from them a number of firearms obtained using those licenses. A high-ranking federal official told the Star his agency has no evidence of malicious intent by the eight students. Nevertheless, the purchases reveal what officials say is a potentially troubling vulnerability in federal and Arizona firearms laws, which exempt international students and other nonimmigrant visa holders with hunting licenses from prohibitions on gun ownership. |

The first double-action pistol that really worked, the Walther PP (for Polizei Pistole) changed how semi-automatic triggers would operate. Originally a police and pocket pistol, the double-action trigger mechanism would translate to other designs, as would its decocker. Oh, and the James Bond thing with the later PPK doesn't hurt either. But not all Walther PPs were made for Polizei or personal protection. No, the beautifully made Walther PPs were also made as a training and plinking guns in .22 Long Rifle not long after the .32 ACP was introduced, and the rimfires went back into production after World War II. |

The vigils are over. So is the funeral. Nearly two months after 16-year-old Deven Holloway was shot and killed outside Linton Middle School in Penn Hills all that remains are the grief and the questions. Among them: Why have no charges been filed against the still unnamed shooter? As recently as two weeks ago, area Facebook users were still asking questions about the March 28 shooting. Who is the shooter? Is he the son of a police officer? Is he White? Is he Black? And, even if it was self-defense as claimed, why hasnt he, at least, been charged with carrying a gun on school property? |

Unless a bill introduced this session is passed, North Carolina still requires a permit issued by the state to conceal a weapon, whether on your person or in a vehicle. But even if you never plan to carry a concealed weapon, there are other reasons to consider obtaining a concealed-carry permit for handguns. One of the primary reasons involves transporting a handgun in a vehicle.

Were certainly gratified if youre enjoying and following our Open Glock build. Better still is the fact that were getting very close to a fully operational pistolan installment, maybe two, awayso it wont be long before the gestures and hand-waving manifest some actual holes in targets. Or dings on steel. Last time out, we dealt with the trigger; by any account, the front of the ignition system. Now were at the back, so to speak, of that crucial operationigniting the all-important primer. |

The Chicago Police Department has had plenty of bad days in recent years, but few as dismal as Jan. 13. That was when the U.S. Department of Justice published a report blistering the department for excessive reliance on force, "systemic deficiencies in training and accountability" and a code of silence that protects bad cops. The only good news DOJ could report was that, in its view, the city and the CPD had shown themselves to be "committed to reform." One sign of it is a new set of guidelines on the use of force, the product of months of deliberation and revision. |

Studies show that while 79 percent of Americans support ethical hunting, the number of hunters in the United States today is about the same as 50 years ago when there were half as many people. Why dont more people hunt? Theres plenty of game. According to a survey by Responsive Management, lack of free time, family and work obligations, and lack of access are the most common reasons why people give up hunting. Theres another reason. According to Penn State psychologist Simon Bronner, 56 percent of hunters say they have been confronted with anti-hunting sentiments and people. |

I showed up for my first hunter safety field training class 26 years old, 10 minutes late and holding a fluorescent orange vest two sizes too small. Bracing myself as I stepped into the Fish, Wildlife and Parks building on the shores of Lake Elmo in Billings, I felt sure that shortly I was going to be ogled and tracked across the room by sharp-eyed 12-year-olds sizing me up for the kill shot.

This years spring wild turkey hunting season is now in the history books and I hope everyone had as an enjoyable time as me. As Ive said before, our hunting adventures are more about the entire ride, not a click and a bang! It was the mid 1980s when I began taking to the woods for one of our nations premier game birds. Back then my exploits took me to neighboring states. Even the places I had permission to hunt in southern Indiana required a drive of several hours. The reason for the travels was simple: There were no wild turkeys in central Indiana. But that has changed. Now nearly every Indiana County boasts of sizable populations. |
