NV: Las Vegas gun owner recalls deadly shootout: 'I got all of my hits'

Years of training helped prepare a Las Vegas gun owner for a shootout last month that resulted in the death of an attacking gunman, he told Fox News on Wednesday.

B.J. Baldwin, a defensive pistol practitioner and champion off-road racer, said he and his girlfriend had just grabbed a late-night dinner at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant and were in a parking lot when their ordeal began around 1:46 a.m. April 22.

The gunman died after being hit with 10 shots in a shootout that Baldwin estimated lasted about four seconds.

Each shot Baldwin fired at the gunman hit its target, including nine to the chest and one to "the central nervous system." (The second suspect fled.)

Submitter's note: Poor choice in victim selection.

The liberal, left wing media in Louisiana is calling basic 2A protections "extremism" and "ridiculous." Last week, a House committee passed four pro-gun bills to the House Floor where they will be considered for a vote tomorrow. NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters are encouraged to contact State Representatives and ask them to stand with gun owners and the Second Amendment by voting YES on the following bills:

Four AmmoLand News correspondentsDavid Codrea, John Crump, Don McDougall and Alexander Roubianhave recently been involved in legal actions in defense of Second Amendment rights. Their cases may not seem like much individually, but each represents a piece of a larger landscape where, as the Second Amendment Foundations Alan Gottlieb has observed, their efforts will help make the Second Amendment great again.

Starting with David Codrea, he recently filed a legal actionreported herechallenging the Justice Departments alleged failure to turn over records relating to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking documentation of department actions in defense of the Second Amendment.

In a video posted last week, Open Carry Texas Vice President David Amad said the group will return to Odessa and teach Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis a lesson following the arrests of some group members for carrying guns outside a West Odessa bar.

Six men were arrested earlier this month after openly carrying rifles in a lot adjacent to Big Daddy Zanes. They said they were supporting the owner, who opened against Gov. Greg Abbotts executive orders. She was also arrested for violating those orders, as was another employee.

U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) tried her best to knock former Vice President Joe Biden off the debate stage last June. Now shes playing nice, trying to make it up to him and land the coveted spot as his running mate on the most antigun Democratic presidential ticket in history.

Sen. Harris was forced to suspend her presidential campaign because of little voter support and lackluster fundraising, decrying Im not a billionaire. I cant fund my own campaign. But that attitude didnt stop her from joining Moms Demand Actions Shannon Watts and Everytown for Gun Safety President John Feinblatt for the latest installment of their antigun Veepstakes to stay in the spotlight.

It should go without saying that criminals dont want to be shot, but this point was driven home when someone asked the guy who sheltered the Nova Scotia shooters girlfriend why the shooter did not come to his house. The reply was basically, He knew I have guns.

I believed all along the BRN-180s would be a great pistol option, but its imperative that I approach each project like this with a healthy skepticism. I was concerned about the weight and my fears were laid to rest. When the dust settled, the AR180 configuration I chose came in just over 6.2lbs without a magazine. I have several sticks, but a couple of my Go-To ARs are a 7.5 piston machine gun I built up years ago that comes in at 7.2lbs, and an SBR 10.5 LMT upper on my CCA lower that tips the scales at 6.9lbs. Im used to these guns, and handle them routinely. The BRN-180 was lighter overall.

The three incoming council members replaced Democratic incumbents Erik Curren, Ophie Kier, and James Harrington.

The three Republicans scored this victory despite Curren, Kier and Harrington doubling the number of votes theyd earned during the 2016 presidential election.

Chris Graham of the Augusta Free Press noted that while Democrats got their voters out better than they have in a May cycle in years, Republicans got turnout more akin to, not quite a presidential year, but approaching gubernatorial.

Canada: Gun advocates changing definition of assault rifles is meant to sow confusion

The decision of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to carry out his 2019 campaign promise to prohibit many semi-automatic rifles has sparked another round in the gun-control debate. Gun lobby groups allege that advocates of stronger firearm laws unfairly label firearms such as the AR-15 assault rifles. Historical evidence, however, suggests that members of the firearms community have themselves played word games with guns, changing how they describe some weapons in response to shifting political winds. In fact, many gun owners once called the AR-15 and similar weapons assault rifles. They only abandoned this term because of fears that the federal government might ban these firearms in the aftermath of the 1989 Montreal Massacre.

The nations first anti-red flag gun law is now on the books in Oklahoma to strengthen and protect citizens Second Amendment rights. Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, authored the measure, which was signed into law by the governor on Tuesday.

Senate Bill 1081, also known as the Anti-Red Flag Act, prohibits the state or any city, county or political subdivision from enacting red flag laws. It also prohibits the acceptance of any grants or funding to enact red flag laws.

In fact, a good argument can be made that a majority of our legislators have spent considerable time putting their constituents at greater risk.

Consider, for example, a pair of pro-Second Amendment bills that House members will take up Friday afternoon. No doubt the National Rifle Association fully supports HB140 and HB334, for the two bills would significantly increase the freedom to carry firearms into places where theyre currently banned.
