A new report from the Everytown for Gun Safety gun prohibition lobbying group asserts last years spike in homicides had two contributing factors, a record number of gun sales and the outbreak of COVID-19, according to CBS News.
But Everytown may have unintentionally affirmed that gun rights groups were right in their predictions at the outset of the coronavirus pandemic about social unrest and the inability of government to protect the public. |

Commonly referred to as non-U.S. ammunition (due to the U.S. leaning heavily toward Boxer-primed ammo), Berdan primers are often used in other countries around the world. But that doesn't take away from their significance within the ammo industry.
Ironically, Berdan bullet primers were created by an American named Hiram Berdan (while Boxer primers were created by Englishman Edward Boxer.) It's unclear as to why the use of these primers is inverted, however, we do know what distinguishes each type as its own. |

On May 18, Bloomberg Law reported that the Biden Administration was in the final stages of drafting a regulation to curb the use of pistol stabilizing braces. These commonly-owned items attach to the rear of many configurations of popular semi-automatic pistols and help stabilize the pistol on a shooters arm so that they may effectively shoot the firearm with one hand. Pistol stabilizing braces are particularly valuable for differently-abled shooters who may not have the use of two hands. According to Bloomberg Law, which is named for and owned by billionaire gun control financier Michael Bloomberg, the chief concern over these firearm accessories is that they can make pistols more accurate and deadlier. |

I am not sure what passes for required reading in high schools these days, however in my time many of the classics were required reading. I well remember Ivanhoe, Silas Marner and definitely large doses of William Shakespeare. I also recall the latter had rare insight into the human character. One of his passages I have never forgotten has to do with the Seven Stages of Man. The bard notes we started out in this life helpless, then go through a period of growth followed by our declining years, and if we live long enough, we end up the same way we started namely helpless and requiring constant care. |

Less than two weeks after 69 U.S. House members encouraged U.S. Senate leaders to block President Joe Bidens (D) nomination of David Chipman to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) because he is an enemy of the Second Amendment, 17 Democrat state attorneys general are encouraging Chipmans confirmation. The attorneys general, led by Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, wrote to Senate leaders: As the chief law and law enforcement officers in our respective states and territories, many of us regularly work with ATF to combat violent criminals and gun trafficking in our communities. |

Gun control proponents have latched onto a new mantra in their effort to reduce the number of gunsand gun ownerson the U.S. landscape, reluctantly recognizing that so-called universal background checks are not the solution to violent crime involving firearms, nor have they prevented criminals from getting guns. The latter fact is underscored in a recent online GUNS magazine report covering incidents in several states where suspects have been charged with felon in possession of firearms. The dirty little secret is that criminals dont obey gun control laws, a fact that seems elusive to gun control proponents.

In 1969, Chester Dombrowski, an off-duty Chicago police officer, had a single-vehicle accident while driving under the influence. Officers who responded to the scene did not find his service firearm on him. After the intoxicated (and later comatose) Dombrowski was taken to hospital and the wrecked car was towed, police searched the car for the missing gun and instead uncovered evidence that implicated him in a homicide. Dombrowski appealed his first-degree murder conviction on the basis that the warrantless, suspicionless vehicle search was unconstitutional under the Fourth Amendment.

Todays review is a bit different from the norm. It took four years of testing through many a 3-gun competition and practice session, but here is probably the most tested review of a Battle Arms Development AR-15. Also referred to as B.A.D., Battle Arms has been a top name in the competition shooting world. They have some of the most innovative and lightweight designs out there, but how do they hold up? Well, they hold up awesome. As a 3-gun petite competitor building her first AR-15 rifle about five years ago, I did extensive research on the best lightweight and most reliable parts out there. In fact, you might be researching your own build. My research led to Battle Arms, and Im happy it did. |

We all know that among modern firearm prohibitionists, the term gun control is out. As a writer for the New York Times recently explained, the word control has a ring of repression to it. True, he admitted, Its accurate: The legislation in question entails more government control over who can purchase guns and when and how. But for those actively seeking to impose such control over their fellow citizens, the language is off key and unhelpful.

As firearms continue to sell at record pace, manufacturers are struggling to keep up with demand for existing models. Nonetheless, innovation continues. We are seeing introductions of MRDS-ready, striker-fired, polymer-frame pistols, including higher-capacity micro-9s. Also hitting the market with some frequency are large-format pistols in both rifle and pistol calibers. And, of course, super-premium 1911s continue to be unveiled at the aspirational end of the market.

Welcome to todays Photo of the Day! Here we have a curious and interesting inadvertence in firearms history. Daisy, known for making BB guns such as the infamous Red Ryder BB Gun, created a rifle that fired caseless Daisy VL ammunition. This rifle was the Daisy VL and as stated below by Cody Firearms Museum, it used caseless ammunition that was set off by compressed hot air. Later the ATF would decide this was a firearm.
