Since my youth spent watching TV westerns and films featuring Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Randolph Scott, Joel McCrea and Audie Murphy, Ive been fascinated with cartridge belts, especially the ones that were fully loaded with nary an empty loop. Remember how the hero could do all kinds of shooting and never seemed to empty his gunbelt? Richard Boones Paladin was like that. He might plug a bad guy or two during his 30-minute adventures in Have Gun-Will Travel, but he seemed to violate one of the most common-sense rules of the western hero-for-hire: never holster an empty sixgun, which would necessitate pulling cartridges from his gunbelt. |

Hopkins, like dozens of other machine gun owners, attended the Big Sandy Shoot in March 2021. Many of his machine guns are dealer samples, which means they're not transferable. This makes them worth considerably less than machine guns manufactured before 1986, which are finite in number and can be bought or sold with a $200 tax stamp from the ATF. But Hopkins can still play with his machine guns all he wants, and that is perhaps more important. He had quite a selection on hand at the shoot and was more than happy to share with us what he thought were some of the best machine guns in his collection.

The jacketed hollow point (JHP) is designed to expand rapidly when hitting its target, which increases the effectiveness of the bullet and decreases the chances of over-penetration. Jacketed hollow points come in a massive variety, separated by shape, design or simply the company that manufactures them. When comparing JHP vs. HP, some jacketed hollow points will look just like traditional hollow points, but will be obviously coated. Others will have a more advanced and high-tech appearance. The nose is coated in a harder metal, helping prevent lead issues in your gun as well as the air and ground. The coating also helps this type of ammunition function better in automatic feeding pistols and rifles. |

Colt revolvers have a very special place in my heart. I grew up shooting my dads 1969 Colt Cobra, which he carried until he passed and I inherited it. It was a tangible symbol of craftsmanship and reliability. When Colt started producing revolvers again in 2017, I was excited, and I have fired every single model they have produced since. Earlier this year, Colt reintroduced one of my favoritesthe Anaconda. |

The National Instant Background Check System (NICS) has always been a flashpoint of contention among Second Amendment supporters. No compromise types viewed the push for NICS in 1993 as a sellout, while those who were of the incrementalist school of thought pointed out justifiably that NICS prevented a permanent waiting period. |

Now that the Supreme Court has granted review in New York Rifle & Pistol Association v. Corlett and Dobbs v. Jackson Womens Health Organization, Democratic politicians and left-wing dark-money groups are ramping up their threats to increase the size of the Court. Of course, the Lefts Court-packing threats are nothing new. In recent years, we have seen the bullying extend to sitting justices in the Democrats quest for Supreme Court decisions that advance their agenda. |

Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., joined Senate colleagues to introduce legislation Tuesday directing the Consumer Product Safety Commission to establish safety standards for firearm locks and firearm safes. Storing guns safely can mean the difference between life and death, Wyden said. Close to 20 percent of all gun injuries in our nation occur because of the high rate of improperly stored guns in homes. This problem can be easily remedied with proper and commonsense safety standards. |

The Wisconsin Assemblys Committee on State Affairs on Tuesday heard testimony on a proposal that would stop the federal government from seizing guns in the state and would limit how new federal gun laws could be enforced. But while the bill has significant support from lawmakers in the Republican-controlled Legislature, it's seen as unlikely to gain the signature of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers. |

Leave it to one of Americas oldest and most respected bow companies to build a compound bow that a barely-able-to-draw tot can handleand yet that same bow can grow with that tiny shooter until he gets serious about shooting and hunting. Thats what Bear Archery did when they introduced the Cruzer years back. While the design and components have been tweaked and upgraded, the basic concepts of that first Cruzer live on in the Bear Cruzer G2 bow. It is one of the best beginner compound bow options available today. |

The confirmation hearing for David Chipman to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is scheduled Wednesday morning before the Senate Judiciary Committee, and it comes on the heels of a remark by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki that there is a gun problem in this country.
The New York Post quoted Psaki in a report on rising gun-related homicides. The newspaper noted, A study released in February of this year that looked at crime rates in 34 cities of varying size found a 30 percent spike in homicides in 2020 compared to 2019. |
