"A grass roots action of gun rights supporters against the Marriott Hotel chain following the NRA Convention in Charlotte, NC, comes to Tom Greshams Gun Talk (R) Radio, the only nationally-syndicated radio talk show about guns and the shooting sports, airing 2-5PM Eastern."

"Paul Valone, president of Grass Roots North Carolina, will discuss how the Marriott Charlotte City Center put up 'no guns' signs during a gun rights event in the hotel, making those who were otherwise legally carrying guns criminals. Valone says that despite the hotel chains claim that it has removed the signs (after stating that it has a policy of not allowing firearms into any of its hotels), the signs have not come down" ...

"We have now learned that the Marriott has a long-standing anti-gun policy. I received an email from them in which they said,"
"It has been the hotel's long-standing policy to not allow firearms by the public on the premises. In accordance with applicable law, this policy is posted in several locations around the hotel. The permanent notice at the hotel's entrance had been removed during a recent renovation and was replaced with temporary signage. This temporary posting was removed for a brief period of time, which may have led to guest uncertainty. (emphasis added)"
"What is certain, however, is that if you legally carry a firearm, you are persona non grata at Marriott. ..." ...

"William Sherman's march to the sea, writes Victor Davis Hanson approvingly, was a war of 'terror' intended to destroy an aristocratic Southern culture he hated because of its impudence in resisting the central government's authority."

"Although rarely acknowledged as such, Sherman could be considered America's first 'civil rights' crusader. This isn't an endorsement of Sherman; it's an indictment of contemporary 'civil rights' ideology."

"While it's true that Sherman never descended to the depths of mass-murdering depravity plumbed by Westermann and his army of berserkers, he was prepared, by his own repeated admissions, to annihilate civilians by the hundreds of thousands in order to vindicate Washington's supposed authority." ...

"After several failed bomb attempts, what will the terrorists do next? STRATFOR.com is a web site of civilian intelligence resources, doing consulting for international businesses. Stratfor writer Scott Stewart has observed that the radical Islamists have a problem: Their excellent bomb makers don't travel well, and their cohorts who are able to blend in and travel to America and Europe aren't very good at making bombs. ... Their best bombers don't speak English, and can't really pass in western society. What do you do? STRATFOR believes that they will switch gears a bit. ... they may have to settle, for the time being, on hand weapon attacks such as Nidal Hasan at Ft. Hood, and the D.C. snipers accomplished." ...

"Wednesday morning (May 26) at about 5:20 a.m. in Chicago (hometown of former anti-gun Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels), a fatal shooting occurred that has created, in its aftermath, a public outcry that strongly signals bad times ahead for the gun prohibitionist movement in the United States."

"The incident, which cost the life of recidivist felon Anthony Nelson, known in the neighborhood as 'Big Ant,' is bringing a tidal wave of public support for the 80-year-old man who shot him with a handgun, which is essentially banned by law in the Windy City. ..." ...

"Early yesterday morning, an 80-year-old Korean War veteran in Chicago faced an armed home invader, whose first reaction upon seeing the homeowner was to fire two shots at him. Fortunately, both missed. Also fortunately, his was not the only gun on the scene."
"An 80-year-old Army veteran shot and killed an armed man whod broken in ..."
"Other accounts of the incident reveal that the homowner's firearm was a handgun, possession of which in Chicago is--at least pending the Supreme Court's McDonald v. Chicago decision expected next month--illegal. This upstanding citizen, in other words--by all accounts well liked and respected by neighbors--is a 'gun criminal.'" ...

"American gun owners might not feel besieged, but they should. This week, the Obama administration announced its support for the United Nations Small Arms Treaty. This international agreement poses real risks for freedom both in the United States and around the world by making it more difficult - if not outright illegal - for law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms."

"The U.N. claims that guns used in armed conflicts cause 300,000 deaths worldwide every year ..." ...

"Political scientist Rudy Rummel estimates that the 15 worst regimes during the 20th century killed 151 million of their own citizens ... Even if all 300,000 annual deaths from armed conflicts can be blamed on the small-arms trade (which they cannot), governments are a bigger threat to most people than their neighbors.

"California is one of 43 states which allow the open carry of handguns. Repeatedly over the past few years the California legislature has wisely rejected bills to ban open carry, and OpenCarry.org urges the legislature to reject Assemblywoman Lori Saldanas effort, AB 1934, as well."

"Last night at the Commonwealth Club debate in San Francisco, UC Berkley Law Professor Franklin Zimring, despite being a Second Amendment skeptic, said"
"'AB 1934 really has nothing to do with public safety. . . . the proponents of the bill are not introducing it because openly carrying has led to any violent incidents or crimes it hasn't. ...'" ...

Police used leads to locate Roach 20 minutes later at a nearby residence, deputies said, and he was arrested trying to flee through the back door.

Roach is being held at the sheriffs patrol building pending formal charges.

"Reversing an interpretation of the Gun Control Act that has been on the books for more than four decades, ATF today posted a ruling declaring any shipment of a firearm by a manufacturer (FFL) to any agent or business (e.g., an engineering-design firm, patent lawyer, testing lab, gun writer, etc.) for a bona fide business purpose to be a 'transfer' under the Gun Control Act of 1968. As a consequence, legitimate business-related shipments will now require the recipient to complete a Form 4473 and undergo a Brady criminal background check. In many instances, these requirements will force shipments to a third party, thereby lengthening the process and the time that the firearm is in transit." ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
To trust arms in the hands of the people at large has, in Europe, been believed...to be an experiment fraught only with danger. Here by a long trial it has been proved to be perfectly harmless...If the government be equitable; if it be reasonable in its exactions; if proper attention be paid to the education of children in knowledge and religion, few men will be disposed to use arms, unless for their amusement, and for the defence of themselves and their country. Timothy Dwight, Travels in New England and New York [London 1823]
