Citing the "make my day" law, officials announced Thursday that no charges will be filed against the man who shot Zoey Ripple, 21, after police say she drunkenly entered his home early Wednesday.
The Boulder County District Attorney's Office said prosecutors will decide in the next few days whether to file any trespassing or other charges against Ripple, who is listed as a University of Colorado student majoring in speech, language and hearing sciences.
The owners of the modern, 4,000-square-foot home at 425 College Ave. are Timothy Justice and Doreen Orion, according to county records. They are both psychiatrists, and Orion is also an author. |

An 18-year-old gunman killed two people and wounded seven early Saturday in a random shooting in a southern Finnish town, police said.
Officers arrested the suspect near Hyvinkaa, some five hours after he fired several shots from a low rooftop at people gathered outside a restaurant just before 2 a.m.
The suspect, a resident of Hyvinkaa, 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Helsinki, did not have a firearms permit. The two guns a small-bore rifle and a hunting rifle found nearby were legally registered, police said, but it was not clear how the shooter had acquired them. |

... Milwaukee is one of an increasing number of cities around the country just under 70 to date, including some in the New York area that are using a gunshot detection system, called ShotSpotter, to pinpoint the location of gunfire seconds after it occurs. Last year, the company that developed ShotSpotter began offering a more affordable system, and that has brought in new clients and led other cities to consider trying it.

The Army has ordered that soldiers may use only government-issued magazines with their M4 carbines, a move that effectively bans one of the most dependable and widely used commercial-made magazines on today's battlefield. The past decade of war has spawned a wave of innovation in the commercial soldier weapons and equipment market. ... Near the top of such advancements is the PMAG polymer M4 magazine, introduced by Magpul Industries Corp. in 2007. ... Of course when all these P-Mags are dutifully turned in, they will be promptly crushed. Insanity.
SUBMITTER'S COMMENT: Contact your congressman and demand that, if they must be turned in, they be sold on the surplus market. This could save millions. |

A far safer, less risky and more reliable option to having a gun or an alarm is readily available. A dog may easily deter a potential intruder by simply barking and may protect the home's occupant from harm by attacking an actual intruder. The cowards who murdered Cates and the Zantops would have run for their lives if they had been confronted by a snarling Akita or German shepherd! |

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is alerting North Carolina gun owners that state lawmakers are attempting to pass a new emergency powers law that may be more restrictive than the one a federal judge just struck down.
House Bill 489, according to Grass Roots North Carolina, would enable cities to restrict firearms rights in the home in emergencies, something they never had the authority to do. |

Whatever happened to concerns about patrons carrying guns in bars after Ohio legislators adopted a new law last year?
"It hasn't been long enough to come to any conclusions on it for sure," said Toby Hoover, executive director of the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence.
Police have not noticed a change either.
"I haven't heard anything about it since then," said Jay McDonald, president of the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio, which opposed the law.
Jim Irvine of the Buckeye Firearms Association, which supported the measure, said he never considered the law very controversial because of the many states that already allowed guns in bars. |

If youve heard the name Chris Kyle in recent months, chances are youve associated it with one (or more) of the following: (a) with 160 confirmed kills, Chris Kyle is the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history, (b) Chris Kyle is the Navy SEAL, from SEAL Team 3, who just wrote the book about his experiences as a sniper during four tours of duty in Iraq, and/or (c) Chris Kyle is the guy who may or may not have punched Jesse Ventura in the face at a SEAL bar in southern California.
But if thats all you know about him, then, you dont know enough. |

The concept behind Fin, Feather and Fur Outfitters has taken flight as owner Mike Goschinski is poised to open his third store later this month at Belden Village in Jackson Township.
Goschinski and his family opened the first store in a 2,400 square foot block building in Ashland in 1985, selling firearms, hunting, camping, fishing and hiking equipment. The following year, Goschinski bought the entire operations from his family members, and in 2000 he moved into a 72,000 square foot building a quarter of a mile down the road. The original store became a destination spot with as many as 500,000 customers visiting over the course of a year. |

This has caused the price of these automatic weapons to increase exponentially each year because there are a limited number of them.
For example, a semi-automatic Colt AR-15 sells for $1,500 while its fully-automatic version sells for $17,000. Prices will continue to go up each year with no end in sight. This is a pretty common machine gun, but the rare ones sell for more than a house. |

A shooting near the Space Needle Saturday that apparently involved an admitted gang member from Kent will almost certainly spark a new effort by the City of Seattle, no doubt with support from Washington Ceasefire, to attack Washington States preemption statute.
Seattle tried that in the courts and in March, that legal strategy was derailed by the state Supreme Court when it declined to review Seattles unanimous loss before the state Court of Appeals last fall. That was 20 months after Seattle lost at the trial court level in an effort to ban firearms from city park facilities. |

Recently I was watching Fox News showing a street in a Syrian city. People were running for cover, running from the Bashar military, trying to not be shot. The people want freedom from the Tyrant Bashar, but have no weapons. It is reported that 5,000 people were killed by the military of the Bashar regime in the Homs region of Syria in a time period of two weeks. The people have nothing with which to defend themselves. How well our founding fathers knew that a people must be armed to protect themselves. |

Can shooting someone on your property in self defense always clear you of charges under the Stand Your Ground laws, which has been recently brought under scrutiny by the Trayvon Martin shooting?
Several people in Lake and Sumter counties have successfully escaped murder or manslaughter charges, citing the castle doctrine law that says a person's home is his castle. However, one shooter could not duck prison despite using the defense during his murder trial. |

There is a danger to our Second Amendment right to bear arms in the form of a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) has introduced Senate Bill S.2205 to prohibit U.S. negotiations under this U.N. treaty that would restrict the rights of our citizens to bear arms under the Second Amendment. |
