Ashlyn Blake hasn't stopped smiling since she fired her first gun and hit her target 20 months ago.

The petite 14-year-old has lots to smile about. She won the New Jersey Junior Olympics in small bore or a .22 caliber and is headed for the junior national competition.

Late last week she stood in front of the patio door at her home, holding the paper target with the light showing through the 10-for-10 bullseyes she shot to win.

On the table behind her was the target from her air rifle competition. She first picked up an air rifle in November and finished second in the state championship. Her score, however, was high enough that she qualified for the nationals in that discipline as well.

Weve confirmed the Michigan Capitol Commission is about to take another look at their policy banning open carry at the Capitol. It comes after a CPL holder was allowed to carry a gun on him, after displaying it openly.

I was not aware there was a loophole, and really hope the Capitol Commission will address this, says Senator Dayna Polehanki.

Polehanki took the now famous photo one year ago of armed militia members protesting inside the capitol, after opposing tougher COVID restrictions.

In the 1930s, the famed Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield, renowned for their rifles, got into the revolver business and went on to produce an interesting wheel gun. Enfield, who had long made some of the best rifles in the world, had flirted with a handgun design once before when, in July 1879, the arsenal was ordered to produce a self-extracting revolver to compete against foreign models for an upcoming British Army test.

A key legislative panel on Thursday approved a measure that would make Texas the largest state in the country to recognize, "the United States Constitution as our permit to carry." The specially formed Constitutional Issues Committee in the state Senate approved HB 1927 by an easy 5-2 vote, sending the proposal to the floor next week for further debate. The Republican-backed bill was approved 84-56 by the state House last week, roughly along party lines.

In 1877, Smith & Wesson introduced .38 S&W (9x20mm) ammunition designed for its First Model, a single action, spur-triggered revolver. Introduced in the 1850s, metallic cartridge revolvers became an overnight success. Most were either large caliber guns or pocket pistols that used .22 or .32 short loads. The .38 was able to offer more power than the previous rounds, making it more appealing to the military as well as the general public.

The Economist labelled the state-level movement toward eliminating concealed carry permit requirements as a troubling trend.

The result of this push is permitless carry, or constitutional carry, as it is more often called. States that go this way view the Second Amendment as a sufficient carry permit and do not require law-abiding citizens to get a permit from the state government before exercising their right to bear arms.

The Second Amendment Foundation is applauding the Ninth U.S. District Court of Appeals for its decision to vacate an injunction obtained earlier in a lawsuit filed by 22 state attorneys general and the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, against an agreement between the State and Commerce departments and SAF and Defense Distributed allowing them to post data relating to 3-D printing of firearms on the Internet. The case is known as State of Washington v. U.S. Department of State.

This is a humongous loss for anti-gun Democrat State Attorneys General, said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. They consistently attack Second Amendment rights any way they can.

After multiple shootings across the United States this past year, including a shooting outside of a Wawa on the outskirts of Allentown last week that left two dead and another injured, calls for gun control have never been louder. But the issue remains divisive across the country as well as on Lafayettes campus, where many students continue to support the right to bear arms.

Both the College Republicans and Democrats often discuss the Second Amendment in their club meetings. Garan Comfort 21, a member of the College Republicans, explained that they discuss gun rights and mass shootings when they occur and that they encourage open and free discussion about gun laws and violence.

The U.S Supreme Court recently decided to hear and review its first case on an individuals right to bear arms since 2010. The litigation challenges a New York state law that requires residents to prove proper cause in order to obtain a pistol or a concealed carry permit. The challengers, supported by the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association (NYSRPA), claim this provision obstructs ordinary, lawful citizens from getting licensed.

Stephen Hunter is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author best known for his thrilling novel Point of Impact successfully transformed into a silverscreen hit, as Shooter, starring Mark Wahlberg. The movie introduced the world to hero and all-around vigilante badass Bob Lee Swagger, and his southern comfort cold-blooded prevalence for dark justice. Sometimes you cant wear a typical IWB or OWB holster, usually because you dont have a belt on. Its one of the only drawbacks to conventional holsters. So how do you carry a gun and be ready to protect yourself? One solution is a belly band. Just like most IWB and OWB holsters are basically the same design and function, so are most belly bands. But that doesnt mean they are identical. Far from it. Some are better than others. Raw Dog Tacticals Breathable Belly Band is one of those.
