"The antis know they cant take our guns from us, so theyve got to engage in deception to con people into believing momentum and political demand are on their side, and elite mother-fronters like Bloomberg have the wealth, the organization, the technical resources, the media reach and the political clout to produce powerful illusions to that effect. "Pressing events in the country, namely, Barack Obama and Dianne Feinsteins attempted gun confiscation proposals, made it necessary for me to devote my column to specifically addressing that issue. Accordingly, the anniversary of the fall of the Alamo passed without my annual tribute. I will rectify that with todays column. Plus, the story of the Alamo only augments the need for strict adherence to the Second Amendment and the rejection of Obama and Feinsteins Machiavellian gun-control measures." ... |

... "It has occurred to me since last week's article that all my references to 'vicious pit bulls' might have given the impression that I share the all-too-common hysterical fear and loathing of the breed, which manifests itself in (successful, in some jurisdictions) calls for breed-specific bans, and even death penalties for dogs that have shown no inclination to viciousness. That attitude, come to think of it, has rather a lot in common with the equally hysterical fear and loathing of firearms." ... |

"Are my hands bad? They can be. An inanimate object cannot be bad; only its use can. Yet most gun control measures are aimed at the object and not the use. Why is that? It is because we already have laws against the bad use of guns and they are failing to deter people. The anti-gun crowd seems to be taking the easy route. Rather than tackle the difficult social reasons why people are using guns in bad ways, they focus their fears on the object and not the person who uses the object. ..." ... |

"What does an outstanding, all-around, utility bolt action rifle look like? Have you ever found one? It seems like most all of the centerfire bolt guns I grew up around were niche based, singular focus type rifles. The exception was typically found with my great grandfathers Remington Model 34 .22 rifle for squirrels and plinking and Dads Marlin model 25M .22 WMR rifle for close range coyotes, ground hogs and all around varmint shooting. Bolt guns were purposed for large game during a particular part of the year, and you had rimfires and shotguns to handle the rest. It wasnt a prejudice, it was just our mentality." ... |
