"Minnesotans who fear that the state's new handgun law will make it a more dangerous place to live outnumber those who think it will be safer by a ratio of more than 3 to 1, the latest Star Tribune Minnesota Poll shows." ...
"Said Rep. Nora Slawik, DFL-Maplewood: 'Before an accident happens, we have to repeal this law and we have to repeal it now.' "
------- Apparently the concept of "Constitutional right" evades this legislator. And regardless of what "most" poll respondents may or may not believe, there's nothing less safe for a populace than to be disarmed by the government and left at the mercy of armed thugs. |

"Gun control advocates should fear the new concealed handgun law, but not for the reason that most people think. The law allows trained, law-abiding citizens to carry concealed handguns for their protection, but despite claims that it is 'radical' and 'is really a conceal and kill bill,' here is a prediction: A year from now Minnesota's newspapers will report that all the horror stories about letting citizens carry concealed handguns were wrong. "But our skillful masters have made an art of manipulating public opinion and convincing voters to do their bidding. The modern concept of democracy as it is so widely touted by the leftist Socialist/Communists is reduced to nothing more than redistribution of wealth from those who produce to those who do not. The inherent right to keep your own property and do with it as you see fit has been crucified on the cross of 'social justice'. The mob screams, 'give us this' or 'give us that' and our modern day Pilates are all too happy to sacrifice the rights given us by God and wash their hands of the consequences in the water of the 'common good'. They do not even need a Judas in order to betray our precious Liberty and even worse, they take the thirty pieces of silver out of our asses." |

------- An April 30 letter writer stated that "every time I board a Metro Transit bus, I will be worried about how many people are packing guns."
That's the whole point. As anxious as you may be, think how this will affect the muggers.

------- Use caution, not guns
A May 2 letter writer states that the point of the new gun law is that everyone will feel worried, whether they are on a bus or in a dark alley, and this will in turn prevent muggers from attacking people in dark alleys.
I would rather just avoid walking down dark alleys alone, as I have for the past five years, than worry about who has a gun in the public place I'm visiting.
