While the overwhelming number of knife users prefer a folding knife as their everyday carry, a respectable number prefer fixed-blade. There are two main reasons these proponents choose a fixer for an EDC. First off, a fixed-blade can be deployed quicker than a folder, skipping the steps of opening the blade. You just grab and go. Secondly, with a fixer there are no intricate parts to loosen or break during use. The K.I.S.S. principle applies here. Bradford Knives Guardian 3 is just such a knife. |

A state gun-control law opposed by the New York affiliate of the National Rifle Association and supported by the Hochul administration has officials preparing for the possibility that the statute could be struck down by the nation's highest court.
A ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court is expected next month in a case involving a challenge to limitations in New York on discretionary concealed carry permits.
Under the state's licensing regime, law enforcement personnel conduct reviews of applications to determine if those seeking concealed carry permits have "proper cause" to carry a firearm for self-defense. |

This intermediate standard is inappropriate in determining whether a law violates a constitutional right, the advocates added in saying the Second Amendment should be on the same constitutional footing as the First Amendment right to free speech.
The courts would not apply intermediate scrutiny to a ban as burdensome as Marylands in the context of any other enumerated constitutional right and the Second Amendment cannot be singled out for special and specially unfavorable treatment, wrote David H. Thompson, the advocates lead attorney at the Supreme Court. A contrary rule would allow the government to eliminate the Second Amendment by degrees first banning one type of arm, then another, and then another. |

The short answer is: If you can afford it, you should have concealed carry insurance.
Now let me give a more thorough answer of why I think this type of coverage is important.
First, I understand not every company that offers these policies is technically insurance by a strict, legal definition. So please don't come to my door with torches and pitchforks. However, because the plans act essentially like insurance, that is how I'll refer to them. |

As the end of the school year approaches, games of Assassins are popping up in schools, leaving police worried.
Police in Exeter, New Hampshire, specifically had a warning for Exeter High School students who may be participating in the game.
A major concern is that participants of the game will present as suspicious or armed persons, or as causing suspicious activity to third persons that may prompt a civilian self-defense reaction and/or a police response, the department said in a Facebook post on Tuesday. |

Gene Coughlins wife hates it when he hunts alone. But the 64-year-old bowhunter prepares as best as he can and goes anyway. The lifelong Montanan has rules: Dont go anywhere without a shotgun. Load it with alternating slugs and 00 buckshot. Never cow call from the ground. Get meat out fast. Expect to lose some anyway.
When he hikes in to one of his treestands along the Blackfoot River, Coughlin carries that 12-gauge in one hand, his bow in the other. Strapped to his chest is a can of pepper spray and a .44 Magnum; a 10 mm Glock rides on his hip. |

Want to carry a gun? Go ahead. No background check. No training. No registration. Take it anywhere you like. Hide it or carry it openly. Your call.
Take it to work. To church. To campus. A sporting event. A state park. Use it as a convenient place to rest your hand while arguing with a store clerk about return policies.
Do you have a history of violence related to mental illness? A felony record? An injunction ordering you to stay away from someone who is scared you might hurt them? If so, youre not supposed to have a gun, much less carry one in public. But it may get a lot harder to catch you. |

That's when Kile told police the victim ran at him in a threatening manner and attempted to grab Kile's firearm, according to court documents. Kile told police he feared for his life and backpedaled away from the victim approximately 15 feet, according to the documents. Kile said he fell backward, as he was moving away and fired two rounds striking the victim, in his statement to police.
"Was he in imminent danger of death, or serious physical injury and the amount of force that he used was that appropriate? Under the circumstances, we feel in this case that Sidney had no other choice," said Kile's defense attorney John Picerno. |

When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound and his roommate.
Deputies tried to help the man until the fire department arrived, but deputies said he died of his injuries.
According to Kim Cannaday, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, the roommate said the two had been fighting throughout the day.
Deputies said at one point the argument turned physical, and the man felt he had to shoot his roommate.
SCSO said the roommate will not be arrested at this time as the shooting appears to be in self-defense, but an investigation is ongoing. |

There are two things non-Americans can almost never understand about America and should probably never speak about. The first is guns. If you have a British accent and arrive in America, or talk about America, you should be very careful before opining on the Second Amendment.
It isnt a precise analogy, but you might compare it to an American arriving in Britain and suddenly talking about the rights and wrongs of hereditary monarchy. There are lots of reasons why countries end up with the institutions they have. |

On Monday, NRA-ILA filed an amicus curiae (or friend of the court) brief in a case challenging Hawaiis draconian permit-to-purchase and firearm-registration laws in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
The Aloha State does not make it easy for an individual to exercise their Second Amendment Rights. State law imposes many repetitive steps on tight deadlines. First, one needs to apply for a permit to purchase a handgun, which requires providing the Chief of Police with the handguns make, model, serial number, etc. If the permit is approved, the individual then has 10 days to complete the purchase. |

Pa State Reps. Jim Marshall and Josh Kail will host a concealed carry seminar on Thursday, May 26, from 6-8 p.m. at the Midland Sportsman Club, 142 Eastwood Drive, Industry.
Marshall said in a release that Anyone who is new to exercising his or her Second Amendment rights, and even those who have been carrying for years, can benefit from the information that will be shared at the seminar. Its designed to give law-abiding citizens information about how they can protect people they love and themselves. |

Sales of firearms have fallen from their recent highs but are continuing in a nearly three-year-long string of 1.25 million sales a month.
A new analysis of FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System data indicates that gun sale background checks have crossed the 1.25 million threshold for 33 straight months, sustaining the highest-ever era of gun purchases.
And, according to industry officials, 1.25 million may be the bottom in a new normal for presale background checks, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation. |

Much to the chagrin of state Sen. Tom Brewer of Gordon and other supporters, the Nebraska Legislature did not pass a constitutional carry measure in the 2022 session.
If a majority of state senators had voted in favor, Nebraska would have joined a growing number of states with such a law. When Georgia passed a constitutional carry bill earlier this year, it marked the 25th state with such legislation. More states are likely to follow suit in the months ahead.
What exactly is constitutional carry? It simply means that if a person lawfully owns a gun, he (or she) can carry that firearm (concealed or not) without additional bureaucratic paperwork required by a state. Its also often referred to as permitless carry legislation. |

GForce Arms GF2P series of shotguns offer close-range, defense-minded features such as a 20-inch barrel, which is perfect for maneuvering around in confined spaces. There is also a 3-inch chamber, which provides a good array of ammunition that is well set up for personal defense, as many lethal loads are in 3-inch shells Though these GForces can use 2.75 inchers, too.
The 20-inch barrel also features a cylinder bore, which basically means there is no choke to pattern the spread of the shot and it's already set up to be used for self-defense patterns at closer ranges. This keeps the spray of the beads wider, which is ideal for self-defense scenarios in a confined space. But its not meant for slug loads in these particular guns. |

Once his time with LEAP was done, Franklin explored using medical marijuana himself to treat chronic pain. He said after he was approved, he learned something that gave him pause.
"I'm like, 'This doesn't make any sense,'" Franklin said.
He's one of the plaintiffs in Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried's lawsuit against the Biden administration. It alleges discrimination against Florida medical marijuana patients because of a federal rule that prohibits them from buying firearms.
"It's about damn time," said Christopher Cano, executive director of the Suncoast Chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) when asked about his reaction to the lawsuit. |

Existing state law requires individuals wishing to carry their legally owned firearm to first complete a handgun training and safety course; fill out a concealed handgun permit application; and then travel to the nearest Nebraska State Patrol Troop Headquarters to submit the application and undergo fingerprinting and a background check. Then, they must wait until the application is processed and the permit is issued. At best, these steps are a nuisance to law-abiding citizens looking to exercise their Second Amendment rights. |

The story would be the same for any other gun-carriers there. Something the gun in every hand folks never talk about is how hard it is to hit your target unless you are very well-trained. Police, who practice a lot, miss their targets more than they succeed. When a police officer fires at a suspect at less than seven yards, the hit rate is 37 percent. (NYPD Hit Rates 1998-2006)
If the officer is being fired on, the hit rate drops to 18 percent. And these are trained professionals. Another fact Greene conveniently forgets is that in states with looser gun laws, a higher percentage of people are killed by guns. |
