"If you own a gun in Illinois, take precautions. The state attorney general, Lisa Madigan, wants to release the names of gun owners in response to an Associated Press request. Publication of that list would tell the criminal class where the guns are, which could be useful to two different sorts of lawbreakers: gun thieves who want to know where the guns are and burglars who want to know where they are not."

"New York City released its list recently at The New York Times' request. It included 'dozens of boldface names and public figures: prominent business leaders, elected officials, celebrities, journalists, judges and lawyers,' the Times reported. It then named names." ...

"Has Mothers Day snuck up on you again? Thats right, if you havent been shopping yet, youre in deep kimchi. But never fear, your friends here at TTAG are here to help. Your first thought is probably flowers, right? Way too cliche. Chocolates? Theyll only make her fat. A Hallmark card? Please. You need to give her something unique. Something unusual. Something family and friends will ask her about . . . You need to give her a silver or gold flattened bullet . . ." ...

"... Before I retired from the Army, I spent 1968-1971 on the ground in sunny Vietnam. While in country, I had an M14a1, which I miss dearly, and an early M16. I refused to carry that weapon after the first dance with Charles. ... And then I found the 'girl of my dreams': an M3a1 Grease Gun. It never jammed, ate all the dirt, sand, and mud it was fed, wasnt picky about her make-up. A shower, dip in a rice paddy every now and then, and she was happy. In the same way, establishing a good armed home defense plan isnt a goal in itself. Its a process. Finding the right weapon or weapons is only one important part of the puzzle. Answer these five questions in the comments section below, and then well move on . . ." ...

Submitter's Note: It is indeed tragic that about 18 children 5 and under are accidentally killed with guns each year. It is horrifying that thirty times that many accidentally drown each year, but the much rarer accidental shootings get all the ink, leaving parents ignorant.

"I hate to say it but Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign, is a whiny loser. The press release below is because NRA News sent a cameraman to the Brady Campaign's press conference where they announced their state 'score cards'. That cameraman doubled the attendance at the press conference. What really must get Mr. Helmke is the realization that the media, though openly sympathetic to gun control, considers the Brady Campaign irrelevant." ...

Submitter's note: this has to be the most bigoted cartoon I have ever seen in my life. The insults towards gun owners come from multiple angles. I strongly suggest that you contact the left wing writer AND the editor. Some say this does no good, but if you are civil and intelligent, it really does have a small positive effect to stand against this kind of evil.

"As every good Boy Scout knows, its good to be prepared. Know thy enemy. As such, its always good to remember the viewpoint(s) from which the government (all of them, federal, state and local) operates. Its world view. How it looks at things. One of its main precepts is, no matter how big the deficit or how close we get to the fiscal precipice, the problem isnt too much spending, its not enough revenue. Thats right, America, youre just not paying enough taxes. Whats the latest brainstorm from the Administration for raising more tax dollars? Its called the vehicle miles traveled tax (VMT) and its a scheme for taxing drivers based on the miles they drive. Yes, this has something to do with guns . . . ." ...

Because 'accidents' like this, where an officer gets shot in the stomach during a training exercise, dont just happen to happen because one guy stumbles and trips with his finger on the trigger of his service weapon aimed at his brother officers center mass.  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46
