"A bumper sticker is often someone's idea of the last word on a subject."
KABA NOTE: It is interesting, the note that was left on a woman's windsheild in response to her anti-gun stickers. It gives us a reminder to not assume things about anti-gunners, but to stick to the facts when trying to get them to see things our way. |

KABA NOTE: "While the debate over weapons heats up, Mr. Anderson, an Ohio resident who asked not to be identified by where he lives or his place of work, continues to carry his gun without the state's blessing. Knife weilding man attacks elementary school children in an Anchorage, Alaska "disarmed victim zone".
KABA NOTE: Another submitter, D. Smith, asked: "Four boys stabbed at school in Alaska. At least one of the boys is critical. Where are the media headlines blaring about banning knives?" Indeed, where are the media headlines blaring about 4 boys seriously wounded by a criminal? If it had been a student using a gun, instead of an adult using a knife, you can be sure the whole country would know about it by now. |

This was the article in the May 6, 2001 Hartford Courant about a Pro-Second Amendment rally on the Capitol Building steps. The event was co-sponsored by Gunsafe, CT Sportsmen Association, and the NRA. Attendence was estimated at 500 supporters! |

John Leaf did the right thing Friday night, and that may be why he died Saturday morning. Leaf had been out partying with friends until about midnight He'd had a few drinks, so he called a cab to take him home to the Lake Nora Arms Apartments on the Far Northside. Then he gave his car keys to a friend. That set into motion a tragic chain of events that ended about 1:30a.m. with Leaf dead on his floor, and Leaf's bereaved friends wondering how it all went so wrong.
KABA NOTE: This is sad, for sure. But it's tough to lay blame on the police in this case. The man was drunk -- probably why he didn't respond when they yelled to drop the knife. There was no way the policemen could have *known* he was the owner of the house.
Sad thing is, even though they found him in the bedroom, that he was drunk and likely didn't respond by identifying himself cost him his life. Very, very sad situation. |

Another 13-year-old showing off his father's pistol shot Joshua in the abdomen Saturday afternoon on the South Side, Chicago police said Sunday. The boy's father is a Cook County sheriff's correctional officer, said Bill Cunningham, spokesman for the sheriff.
Sheriff Michael Sheahan issued an order last year requiring employees to secure their weapons in a lock box or with a gun lock when off duty.
