Living off the grid can be extremely difficult, but also extremely rewarding. Few things are more in line with the spirit of American liberty than living completely unbeholden to the government and big corporations and going off grid gives you that freedom. While everyone else is complaining about government overreach, corporate consumerism and Wall Street banksters, youll be moving your life away from the rat race. And when our economy, politics or social structure take a turn for the worse, you and your family will be in a far better position to weather the storm from your off-grid locale than your former neighbors.

ID: For cancer survivors, Scooter's Youth Hunting Camp inspires joy after hardship

At the once yearly Scooter's Youth Hunting Camp Saturday, some 250 Idaho kids gathered at Emmett's "Rod and Gun Club" to learn to sharpen their knives, clean their own guns, and some-- even to find peace of mind again after medical struggles unfathomable at their age.

Some special young ladies-- in particular-- said shooting their target was only part of the reason they were smiling today; after what they've been through, the joys of hunting are therapeutic.

As I previously reported, you might remember 11-year-old cancer survivor Cortney Walter from when she "got [her] elk." I caught up with her for an update at today's camp which is put on by the same group.

As House Democrats continue hounding the Trump administration following the embarrassment of the no-smoking-gun Mueller report, polls show that President Donald Trumps popularity among voters remains high, which might be linked to recent good economic news.

Increasingly, it is beginning to appear that Democrats are vindictive over what seems to many like the failure of the Mueller report to bring Trumps presidency down. Instead, according to Gallup, a new survey shows the president with a 46 percent approval rating.

The pistol-caliber AR-style firearm revolution continues with the introduction of a new series of pistols from Rock River Arms. The company's new BT-9 series, chambered in 9 mm, is designed to work with commonly-available Glock magazines, letting you carry one style of magazine for both your primary and your secondary firearms. Compact, accurate and powerful, the BT-9 series takes Rock River Arms' experience and history in AR-15 manufacturing further into the world of pistol-caliber AR pistols and carbines.

It appears the 9 mm has gained its recognition as a proper defensive cartridge; I havent heard anyone refer to a 9 mm pistol as a mouse gun for quite some time. With the incredible growth in CCW permits throughout the United States, handgun manufacturers have worked hard to reduce the size and weight of service pistols so citizens can carry a full-power 9 mm handgun properly concealed. From the early days, a leader in this movement has been Kahr Arms with its compact, striker-fired, double-action-only semi-automatics. One of its latest efforts is the Kahr Arms CT9, with an interesting polymer frame featuring a carbon-fiber-weave pattern.

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., released his plan Tuesday to combat firearm-related violence. For starters, most of it would violate the Constitution. Bookers 14-point plan includes measures that have become a staple in progressive and anti-gun circles, such as universal background checks and bans on the civilian possession of semi-automatic rifles or factory-standard magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds.

The Battle Ground City Council has taken a position on Initiative 1639, deferring to the courts on the constitutionality of the gun control measure. Battle Ground Mayor Mike Dalesandro read an official statement from the council during its May 6 meeting, preceding testimony by several community members both against and in support of I-1639. The initiative, passed by Washington state voters last November, imposes restrictions on ownership of semi-automatic rifles ranging from age of purchase, interstate sales, mandating safety classes for purchases and regarding storage and liability on those firearms if used to commit a crime.

Santa Clara County officials launched a campaign Monday to urge residents with unused guns to turn in weapons around the clock, any day of the year, without waiting for a gun buyback event. Unlike the buybacks, the program will not be anonymous, but sheriff's officials say the program is supposed to be "no questions asked."

Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., says gun violence should be considered a public health issue, and she is promoting legislation that would require the federal government to treat it as such. Kelly is the author of a first-of-its-kind bill to require the surgeon general to study gun violence as a public health issue. An annual report on gun violence, in Kelly's view, could help tip the balance of the gun control debate toward stricter regulation.

On the same day that hundreds of gun-rights supporters rallied in the state Capitol, a firebrand member of Pennsylvanias House of Representatives said he would begin impeachment proceedings against Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto over the citys new gun control ordinances. State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, whos circulating the impeachment resolution, told the Capital-Star Monday that Peduto brazenly violated the state Constitution when he signed the bills, which include restrictions on the use of assault-style weapons and high capacity ammunition magazines. Peduto also signed into law a measure that allows authorities to temporarily seize firearms from a person deemed at risk of harming himself or others.

For a long time the state of West Virginia didnt know how many vehicles it owned. Nobody could come up with a coherent list and, in the end, the state found it was paying insurance on cars it didnt even own anymore. It was silly, embarrassing and downright frustrating. But legislation a few years back helped the state get a hold on the situation and now we have a pretty accurate inventory of our state vehicle fleet.

In a robocall to parents, Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie addressed recently passed state legislation allowing teachers to carry firearms. Runcie said that, despite lawmakers voting in favor of the legislation on Wednesday, the district would not allow more classroom teachers to carry guns. We do not want to create a psychological impact on our children knowing their teachers have guns, nor create stress on our teachers as they deal with more non-instructional duties, he said in the recording.

In the early part of the 1990s, there was both good news and bad news for the tradition-minded handgunner. The good news wasafter 150 yearsthe DA/SA revolver had reached a very advanced state of development. The bad news was that nobody cared. That is of course an exaggeration, made for emphasis. There were plenty of people who did care and did buy, use and respect the great revolvers made by Ruger, Taurus and Smith & Wesson. However, consider that the beginning of the decade saw the great majority of police officers armed with DA/SA revolvers. At the end, they had converted to semi-automatic pistols.

Springtime is rattlesnake hunting season for Bob Steinbruck.
Thats when the snakes come out of their dens to warm themselves on rocks and are more visible, he said. Steinbruck has been hunting rattlesnakes for 45 years. His interest was sparked during a hunting trip in the Owyhee Reservoir area. We caught some snakes and ate them for a lark, he said.

Big game populations are doing well in Utah this year, and Utah's Division of Wildlife Resources approved an increase of permits for several hunts this fall. The wildlife board approved additional permits for several increasing big game populations like deer and pronghorn antelope. This year, the state saw the biggest increase in the doe deer population. DWR approved 2,220 permits for doe deer this year compared to last year's 1,133.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
There is no doubt in my mind that millions of lives could have been saved if the people had not been "brainwashed" about gun ownership and they had been well armed. Hitler's thugs and goons were not very brave when confronted by a gun. Gun haters always want to forget the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, which is a perfect example of how a ragtag, half starved group of Jews took up 10 handguns and made asses out of the Nazi's. Theodore Haas, former prisoner of the infamous Dachau prisoner concentration camp
