Melisa Hancock sidled up to her .22 rifle and took aim at the snake sunning in her fathers backyard. She needed only one shot, no big deal for a native of these West Texas plains. And so she and her 83-year-old father, Buster Taylor, chuckled when he urged her to go Rambo on what was actually a piece of hose playing the role of the areas ever-present rattlesnakes. |

I heard a guy talking with another guy about a gun. This happened Thursday, midmorning, as the No. 8 bus bounced along Greenmount Avenue in my gun-infested city of Baltimore. A middle-aged man in a blue windbreaker, seated across the aisle and one row back, spoke in a loud, gravelly voice. He was on his cellphone, which was set to speaker, with the volume between "loud" and "obnoxious." |

An unusually intense fight with squirt guns brought police to an Oakville neighbourhood where they had some stern words with a group of teenage girls. The teens were playing what's often called the Assassin Game. It's fought with squirt guns, often in a large public area and over an extended time. But area residents, who didn't know that, were alarmed to see people in black hoods and ski masks, brandishing what looked to be weapons. |

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal was a straight shooter when he decided last week to veto a bill that would have allowed guns to be carried on college campuses. No longer worried about facing the prospect of re-election, the governor wisely rejected the bill that was also opposed by many public college presidents and faculty. |

It is time for me to start a second career. Im going to become a lawyer if Secretary Rodham Hillary Clinton is elected. Im going to make a ton of money.. and you can too.
Hillary has already proposed that firearms manufacturers should be held liable when criminals use their guns. That would end gun sales in the United States.
You could always sue the gun manufacturer if the gun failed during its intended use, but now the manufacturer is liable for misuse as well. Damn, but that works for lawyers $$$. |

Around the country statistics show that gun sales are through the roof, many of which are sold to women to prepare for moments like the one Kathie Gerber experienced two years ago. I was car jacked at gun point in one of the seven cities. An individual literally jumped through my passenger side of my vehicle, held a gun to my head, and it was at that point that I realized I needed a way to protect myself, Gerber said. |

Its impossible, in this day and age, to pick up a strangers password-protected mobile phone and send a text. Its easy to steal anyones gun and fire away. It makes no sense for lethal weapons to be less protected than communications and entertainment devices. So, President Barack Obama wants the government to assist in the development of smart-gun technology, which has the potential to reduce the number of preventable deaths.

In November, Maines public will be asked to decide whether lawful owners of firearms should be required to go to a gun dealer, pay a reasonable fee and be required to fill out a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Form 4473 to buy or sell a firearm. The referendums proponents claim that these requirements are easy, will make us safer, and that this will not be gun registration. Such claims are misleading. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
...If a man lies under oath or procures the lie of another under oath, if he perjures himself or suborns perjury, he is guilty under the statute law. Under the higher law, under the great law of morality and righteousness, he is precisely as guilty if, instead of lying in a court, he lies in a newspaper or on the stump; and in all probability, the evil effects of his conduct are infinitely more widespread and more pernicious. Teddy Roosevelt - May 12, 1900 |
