One student is dead and either others were reportedly injured in a school shooting incident in Highlands Ranch, Colo., and while some people are already clamoring for more gun control, some activists on social media are calling this another failure of the gun-free zone concept.
According to the Denver Post, the school has private security, but there is no school resources officer as other schools frequently have. The STEM School has 1,850 students ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade, the newspaper added. |

After the 2018 school shooting in Parkland, Fla. that killed 17 people, President Donald Trump called for teachers to be armed. A little more than a year later, lawmakers in Florida approve a bill allowing educators to carry guns in classrooms after undergoing police-style training and a psychiatric evaluation.
But would that really protect students and make them feel safer? Should Michigan pass similar legislation? Our Let it Rip guests gave their opinions on this controversy topic.

Being that this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world I didnt finish the line from the 1970s movie, Dirty Harry, which put the .44 Magnum on the map. My hunting buddys laughter as he said, I dont think he cares, had me laughing at myself.
We werent hunting at the time, just out scouting for moose before the season. The seismic trail we followed was lined with thick brush on either side and the brown bear, whom I was speaking to, had stepped onto the trail maybe 30 yards ahead of us.

As an admirer of a short barreled rifle, or carbine as most would call it, I am rarely without one in my truck as I travel. Understand not all states are gun friendly as we know and it seems to get worse by the day. Therefore, know the laws of your state and wherever you travel when it comes to gun carry inside your car. I have been an advocate of carbine carry inside a vehicle, ready and accessible, for decades and continue to do so today. Aside from admiring short rifles, why would I want to carry one in the first place? |

Boonville, MO-based CMMG Inc. has come up with a unique third way of running 9mm in an AR. The company's new 9 ARC magazine, developed in collaboration with Mean Arms, makes it possible to shoot 9mm from an AR-15 lower receiver when used with CMMGs proprietary 9mm Radial Delayed Blowback BANSHEE or RESOLUTE upper.
The 9 ARC Magazine is ideal for those who have a standard AR-15 lower receiver and want to shoot 9mm. It also offers an affordable way to train or enjoy an outing at the range by allowing users to shoot inexpensive 9mm ammunition while still maintaining the familiar furniture and controls on their existing AR15 lower receiver. |

The venerable Glock is synonymous with reliability and ruggedness, proving itself over the years as a worthy contender in the self-defense and personal protection realms. With five total iterations to its name, Gaston Glocks creations each come with their own quirks and attributes making them unique in their own right. I snagged three generations of Glock 19 pistols from the Guns.com warehouse the Gen 3, Gen 4 and Gen 5 to evaluate the similarities and differences among these series. |

When we discuss the track record of Senator Kamala Harris on Second Amendment issues, it comes down as pretty horrid. Shes really no better voting-wise than Dianne Feinstein, who famously declared that if she could have gotten 51 votes, she would have said Mr. and Mrs. America, turn `em in.
However, there is one decision related to firearms that Second Amendment supporters must back whole-heartedly and fiercely. She made the choice at one point to purchase a firearm for personal protection, and she has come under fire for making that choice. It is time for Second Amendment supporters to defend Kamala Harris.
I can hear the reactions to this now. |

The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association (NYSRPA) filed its main brief in the United States Supreme Court case NYSRPA, et al v. the City of New York and the New York City Police Department-License Division. The NRA supported case challenges a New York City ordinance that violates the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding New York City residents by restricting lawful travel with firearms outside of city limits.
Despite New York Citys transparent attempts to delay and derail this landmark case, it is one step closer to affirming that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms applies outside the home, said Chris W. Cox, executive director, NRA-ILA. " |

German authorities have dropped an investigation of a U.S. Army employee who killed a burglar during a home break-in, saying he acted within his rights to defend his family.
Prosecutors said the 41-year-old American fought off three masked men at his Landstuhl home in February, but a fourth pushed past him, ran upstairs to where his wife and three children were and attacked his wife.
Prosecutors say the husband, a civilian employee of the U.S. Army's Regional Health Command Europe, heard her screams, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the burglar twice while fighting with him. The wounded intruder fled and later died. |

Shares in Brazilian gunmaker Taurus Armas SA surged on Wednesday, the day after President Jair Bolsonaro signed a decree to ease restrictions on gun imports and increase the amount of ammunition a person can buy.
Taurus stock surged 21 percent to 4.5 reais.
An earlier executive order signed by Bolsonaro had eased restrictions for collectors, marksmen and hunters, for example allowing them to carry loaded guns to shooting clubs.
The latest decree was expanded to lift a ban on imported arms if there was a similar domestic-made product. Taurus has a factory in Miami and may benefit from imports too. |

So far in the first 120 days of this year according to the press there have been more than 100 mass shootings, more than 4,500 gun deaths not counting suicides with many being by assault weapons, and more than 8,400 gun injuries. These numbers have increased exponentially over the last couple of decades and show no indication of decline.
Reasonable gun safety legislation would not confiscate all guns despite what the fear mongers who lead the opposition to any gun safety legislation would have us believe. I support gun safety legislationnot eliminating gun ownership. We need to continue digging out the truth and do the hard work to have future generations act on facts and not fear. |

This is not about the justification for owning long guns, rifles and shotguns. Thats a given. What this is about is taking care of the ones you already own and use, or may intend to buy in the future. Quality firearms are a huge investment. They require, demand, maintenance and protection from the elements.
A big part of prepping and survival is building the constitution for self-preservation and self-reliance through self-defense. A component of that mission is to arm yourselves appropriately and to take care of the tools you have. For long guns that means a good, secure and protective gun case. |

Detectives ... pieced together a timeline that shows Jimenez had been acting out of character in an apparent "altered state of consciousness," according to police, when he started an unprovoked and violent fight with a resident of the complex who had been sitting on the landing outside his apartment.
Another resident of the complex, who has a concealed carry permit and was armed with a handgun, saw the fight and tried to intervene. Witnesses say Jimenez stopped his attack on the first person and rushed the resident with the gun, who then stepped back and told Jimenez to stop, but Jimenez instead starting fighting him. That's when the resident with the gun fired a round and stopped the attack. |

Presidential candidate Cory Booker unveiled a suite of proposals on Monday aimed at tackling the growing epidemic of gun violence. The senator from New Jersey touted his reform package as the most sweeping gun violence prevention proposal ever advanced by a presidential candidate.
But the proposals would incur significant opposition from Republican lawmakers and organizations like the National Rifle Association, the latter of which frequently challenges gun regulations in court. According to one gun law expert, Booker's plan is likely to have mixed success complying with courts' interpretation of the Second Amendment. |
