The Unionville-Sebewaing Area trapshooting team recently took home its first conference championship hardware.
The Patriots took first place in the Michigan State High School Clay Target League Conference 4, beating out Hemlock, Reading, Marine City, Big Rapids, Reese and Unity Christian.
"This was really big for the team this year," said head coach Aaron Holdwick. "Last year, we actually finished last in the conference. To go from last to first was a very big accomplishment. We had more than half of our team that were returning shooters and they really stepped up their game this year."
USA finished with weekly scores of 448, 407, 347.5, 381, and 374, for a total of 1,958.

Journalists who have become mouthpieces for gun control groups have loudly declared victory over the NRA following the recent adjournment of the Texas Legislature. They announced the resounding defeat with Texas legislators adding funds to the 2020-2021 budget for the Department of Public Safety to establish and promote a statewide safe gun storage campaign. Since the mainstream media wont, lets set the record straight. |

The gun debate is difficult for many reasons. It is often an emotional issue. Unfortunately, there isnt one gun debate, but perhaps dozens of gun debates. Even the questions that seem simple are difficult to answer well.
Are guns too easy to get? Does a firearm in your home put you at greater risk? How often do ordinary citizens defend themselves with a firearm? A simple answer is easy to find.. and often wrong. There are questions hidden within questions as we look for the truth. |

Mark Oliva, Second Amendment advocate and public-affairs director of the National Shooting Sports Foundations, called Salesforces anti-firearm ultimatum a corporate-policy virtue signal that discriminates against gun owners. It is a very chilling effect when a company as large as Salesforce puts out a policy like this, Oliva stated. Then again, he added, A policy like this is not surprising from a company based in that part of the country. |

On Wednesday, the Senate Codes Committee passed S.6151 (Kavanaugh) on a 9 to 4 vote. This legislation is a desperate attempt to moot United States Supreme Court review of New York Citys unconstitutional firearm travel laws in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. City of New York. The Supreme Court has already rejected New York Citys effort to moot the case by offering to amend its current regulation. Now, suddenly, there is a second effort to stop the Supreme Court from hearing this case by changing New York State penal law. |

Former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper is holding himself out as a centrist and a problem-solver. Well, thats nowhere close to the truth when it comes to Second Amendment issues. He lines up with most of the so-called mainstream of the Democratic Party.
In the wake of the tragic mass shootings in an Aurora, Colorado movie theater and a Newtown, Connecticut elementary school, Hickenlooper signed a lot of anti-Second Amendment legislation into law. This included a law setting an arbitrary cap on magazine capacity although the bill in question was 15 rounds instead of 10. Like were supposed to be grateful for that. Take a gander at the Duncan decision before you give Hickenlooper any credit on this one. |

To get an idea of how much such research is funded at the federal level, we queried the Federal RePORTER database, which lists allocation and recipient data for grants from 18 federal departments and agencies a subset of potential funding overall, but a starting point nonetheless. Looking at FY2018 and searching on the phrase gun* or firearm*, we found 86 projects across three entities the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), and Veterans Administration (VA) totaling $43 million. Perhaps not as much as some would like, but certainly not representative of abandoned efforts. |
