The Chippewa County Shooting Association (CCSA) and Chippewa County Relay for Life are teaming to shoot old household appliances at the range off Ridge Road on Friday night with the aim of raising funds to gun down cancer.
The collaboration, dubbed Lets Shoot Out Cancer, came from CCSA member and Relay for Life supporters Brenda Ransom and her husband. Ransom thought it would be a fun and unique way to raise money for Relay for Life. When she brought the idea to the CCSA, they were on board.
I approached the club about doing something there, Ransom said over the phone. Its an opportunity for people whove never shot before to come experience it. |

The ex gets out of his car wielding a pair of nun chucks. Apparently in a rage, the ex charged toward the couple. The current husband warned the attacker off while pointing his pistol at him.
As the ex closed the distance swinging his nun chucks, the husband fired a number of shots, hitting the ex six times. As of this writing he was in critical condition in the ICU at a local hospital.
Since they have two children together, the wife calls the shooting bittersweet. I think its finally over. Unfortunately it came to this but, he is in the situation hes in because he put himself there.
Police say the husband does not face criminal charges at this time, because he was acting in self-defense and defense of his wife. |

A divided federal appeals court in California ruled Thursday that there is no constitutional right to carry a concealed handgun, adding to a division among the lower courts on gun rights outside the home.
By a vote of 7-4, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco upheld a California law that requires gun owners to show a good reason before they can get a license to carry a concealed handgun.
"The protection of the Second Amendment whatever the scope of that protection may be simply does not extend to the carrying of concealed firearms in public by members of the general public." |

The 8th Judicial District Attorney's Office will not file charges against 26-year-old Sean Halla in connection with a May 2 shooting in northwest Loveland that sent his brother Jason Halla, 30, to the hospital.
Officers arrested Sean Halla on suspicion of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, a Class 3 felony, after an argument with his brother turned violent and Sean Halla shot Jason Halla in the neck.
On Thursday, 8th Judicial District Attorney Clifford Riedel painted a slightly different picture of events than originally reported that led to prosecutors' decision not to press charges. |

A federal appeals court ruling is causing concern among local gun owners.
The 11-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that gun owners do not have a constitutional right to conceal carry.
California law enforcement can now require those who apply for a concealed weapons permit to show that they are in immediate danger or have a good reason to obtain a permit beyond self-defense.
"The problem is we have activist judges, specifically like judge Fletcher here that simply don't believe that the Constitution is relevant," said gun owner Adam Frugoli. "They think it's an anecdotic document. It is in the Constitution. That's what's so frightening about this." |

Newsom also managed to seriously piss off the NRA with his "Safety for All Act of 2016," which would proposes background checks on ammunition sales. The Coalition for Civil Liberties, a sneakily-named NRA affiliate, responded with a truly bizarre ad released Wednesday that features a transgender character using a gun for self defense, and is reportedly targeted at California's LGBT population.
In an advance clip (see above!) from Chelsea, Chelsea Handler's new Netflix show, Newsom responds to the NRA video, skewering the gun group's faux-show of support for the LGBT community ("They've been leaders on transgender equality," he sarcastically intones), and engages in a passionate discussion with Handler on the need for gun control. |

Law-abiding Floridians should be allowed to openly carry firearms in public, a gun-rights groups argued Wednesday to the Florida Supreme Court on behalf of a man arrested four years ago while strolling with a visibly holstered weapon in Fort Pierce.
Florida Carry attorney Eric Friday said the states nearly 30-year-old concealed-weapons law violates the U.S. Constitutions Second Amendment, which he said requires people to be allowed to openly carry guns. Lawmakers this year considered a proposal to allow people with concealed-weapons licenses to openly carry firearms, but the bill did not pass. |

It is easy to get hung up on firearm-hardware questions when it comes to legally carrying a firearm for self-defense. Do I want a semi-automatic pistol or a snub-nose revolver? Do I pick a teensy .380 or a chopped .45? It can all be so overwhelming that when you finally select your firearm and matching ammunition, it is easy to be lulled into thinking you are donebut that is not the case. You still need to select a way to carry that firearm. You need to choose a holster.

Bill Hixon recently walked into his usual breakfast meeting with friends at an Augusta hotel and received a standing ovation.
In fact, he may be the most popular legislator in Georgia right now.
And hes not even a legislator in Georgia.
The North Augusta, S.C., state representative spearheaded a six-year battle in Columbia to achieve concealed-carry reciprocity between his state and Georgia and last Friday got it done, with Gov. Nikki Haleys signature on the law.
That means, effective immediately, residents of the two states who have permits to carry concealed guns may cross the state line with impunity. |

Based on the overwhelming consensus of historical sources, we conclude that the protection of the Second Amendment whatever the scope of that protection may be simply does not extend to the carrying of concealed firearms in public by members of the general public, the court said in a ruling written by Judge William A. Fletcher.
The case was brought by gun owners who were denied permits in Yolo and San Diego Counties. The plaintiffs did not immediately say whether they planned to appeal to the United States Supreme Court. |

There is some truth in that. Donald Trump does not have a legislative record to show actions to back up his words. But words have meanings. If a nominee is unwilling to give us words in support of the Second Amendment, why should we believe that he will go to bat for us in the legislature, in the executive branch, or in the courts? If the nominee is too concerned with being politically correct when running for office, even in the primary, why should we believe that they will be willing to take more heat while in office, facing re-election, or under media pressure?
If a nominee will not specifically defend the Second Amendment verbally and in writing before being elected, why would we expect them to do so afterwards? |

"I was aware of Operation Choke Point and that it was intended to make it impossible for people with a fraudulent business to do banking, Lichterman said. But I sell firearms, which is constitutionally protected, and am licensed by the federal government to sell firearms.
Fortunately for Lichterman, after several discussions with bank officials, some negative publicity and pressure from Second Amendment advocacy groups, the bank reversed its position.

Conservatives have always been loud and resounding voices on the issue of defending the Second Amendment. However, oftentimes, it seems that our representatives in government, Republicans and Democrats alike, lack that same aggressive defense of the rest of the liberties and freedoms granted to us by the Constitution.
A few weeks ago, I took the stage at the National Rifle Associations Annual Meeting in Louisville to address a crowd of liberty-loving, pro-gun Kentuckians, eager to hear how their elected officials are working to defend their right to bear arms. |

Your honor, Friday replied, it depends whether there is a method of exercising the right as constitutional right rather than a licensed privilege. To give an example what youre discussing would be Mississippi. Mississippi has constitutional open carry, so no permit required. They have a regular permit that is almost pro-forma to get that allows us to carry concealed firearm. ... They have a broad range but at The end of the day they have a constitutional right where they do not have to seek government permission ahead of time, as long as theyre a law-abiding citizen theyre allowed to carry a firearm. |

Its no secret to Americas law-abiding gun owners that one of the most important aspects of the upcoming presidential election is the future of the U.S. Supreme Courtwhich is, indeed, inextricably tied to the very future of freedom in our country.
When the next president takes the oath of office in January, Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be 83, Anthony M. Kennedy will be 80 and Stephen G. Breyer will be 78. That, combined with the passing of Justice Antonin Scalia in February, means the next president will likely appoint three or more justices over the next four or eight years, shaping the court for the next generation. |

As Massachusetts' governor, he backed the drug war and restrictions on gun ownership.
Today, about Iraq, he said, "I wasn't exactly waving flags when the invasion occurred ... That Iraq thing has turned out to be one of the worst mistakes ever."
Why did he push gun regulation? "There are a lot of bills kicking around in Massachusetts. I've been a hunter my entire life, a gun owner my entire life. I really consider myself a Second Amendment guy."
Ed.: For values of 'Second Amendment guy' that includes banning an entire class of commonly owned guns. |

You hate Democrats because theyre pro war, anti-self-defense, pro spying on Americans not suspected of committing a crime, pro using the IRS as a weapon against their political enemies, pro enormous government they made ObamaCare (one of the most hated laws ever) the law of the land, they hand over tax dollars to politically favored corporations (e.g. Solyndra, too big to fail bank bailouts, etc.), theyre crushing the economy by over-regulating businesses, and they cant keep their hands out of your wallets and purses.
Libertarians get all of these issues right. |
