"You're almost there."
"Regardless of who wins the presidential election, you'll have a candidate who agrees with you on government seizure of control of the private sale of arms. ... you think that the next order of business after that will be a real 'assault weapons ban' ..."
"So things could not be brighter - you're almost there ..."
"Wrong."
"Not even close." ...
"Pass a ban on private sales of arms and we will defy it."
"Pass a ban on semiautomatic rifles of military utility -- in effect, try to disarm us -- and we will refuse to turn them in."
"Send thugs to come and take them from us and we will shoot back."
"People are going to die - lots of people."
"And that's only the beginning." ... |

There's plenty in this issue, including a look at "West Point's 'Library' of Guns," "Tommy Gun" marksmanship, Elmer Keith hunting lions, the story of "Pistol Pete" Eaton, and more, including the classic period gun ads.
But here's what really stands out:
"Sullivan Law: This Law Makes Crime Safe," is a must-read, and gives us an invaluable analysis and perspective on the background, effects and implications of this evil, unAmerican edict that provided the model for urban citizen disarmament. |

"I'll never understand how some people in our society relegate the responsibility of human behavior onto an inanimate object made of metal and wood."
"Guest columnist C.D. Chamberlain's concern for the safety of our children regarding firearm deaths is most certainly laudable. His column began with the anticipation of discussing real solutions for these terrible tragedies, but then sadly deteriorated into nothing more than unrealistic antigun rhetoric."
"Mr. Chamberlain's sarcastic answer for ending these deaths is to ban ammunition for all firearms. Gee, as simple as that! I'll admit it's a different and humorous spin by the antigun establishment, however, as usual, it is void of any positive substance." ... |

The case, District of Columbia v. Heller, deals with whether or not the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms, or whether it only covers a collective right of the states to have a militia."
"D.C. bans handguns, making it one of the strictest gun control laws in the country. "Women across the country are packing classes where they learn about all aspects of handgun ownership. One of the main reasons for attending these classes, they say, is to learn more about how to take charge of their own safety."
"Carol, a thirty-something mother from Connecticut, explained her participation in a class: 'My husband convinced me that it would be to my benefit to learn how to use a handgun. FULL TEXT BELOW:
A state legislator from Nassau County and law enforcement officials yesterday urged the state Senate to pass a bill mandating that new semi-automatic guns feature technology that would stamp each shell casing with details about the weapon.
The technology, called micro-stamping, would imprint bullet casings with the gun's make, model and serial number. That would enable detectives to analyze casings left at crime scenes to trace the weapon's original buyer and the shop where it was sold, said Assemb. Michelle Schimel (D-Great Neck), who sponsored a similar bill in the state Assembly. |
